  1. My son is in the South upper and said it was a bit of a nuisance but no big deal. They will quickly learn from it, things are always like this to start with when something new is introduced
  2. Well simmo the thread is called January reinforcements so we sure aren't getting that. I reckon we will get 2 players, but perhaps up to 4 if Bird and Cashin leave. But for the summer we are going to need at least that sort of list. I'm really hoping all those out of contract that were brought in after admin are let go plus anyone else over 30 who is out of contract. I think those players are all on big contracts, we had to offer really good money to get them to come because we were desperate. I think we will be in a good position to really strengthen the squad with much younger players in the summer even if we are still in this division
  3. What about a quality left back as well
  4. FFS I meant why make a tactical change then change it again 5 minutes later!
  5. I think what Roy Mac was driving at was why not get it right in the first place
  6. No I mean by giving them a pasting and scoring a few goals. Just beating them say 2-1 wouldn't be much of a marker I agree
  7. I fancy us to really put down a marker today. Kiss of death I know, but we have been building up a head of steam I think
  8. Very positive I think. Proof of the pudding and all that of course, but at least we are no longer putting out a message that we as poor as church mice and it will be a long hard haul etc etc
  9. The emergence of Wilson, Ward coming back, maybe JJ starting to make a contribution and NML looking fitter has given us an edge that we didn't have before. Depends who we lose in the window but from where we are now, I think we don't need much. I'd love to see a proper target man number 9 added to the squad, someone who can really get up and head it
  10. If you look at the mix of players signed there have been mainly older players to do a job for now but the younger ones, Fornah, Wilson and JJ(only a loan I know but maybe with a view to a permanent) and arguably Ward(27 when he signed and a 3 year contract) aren’t just athletes. They are all athletes of course but they can also play and have quality. So for me that evidence doesn’t support an argument that we are only after big strong lads who can run about and are physical but have no skill
  11. I don't think we need to worry about this for now though its fun to speculate I suppose. We need to put one foot in front of the other and see where it takes us. My personal hope is that Mr Clowes enjoys his project and at some point gets his money back and then some. That will happen naturally I think when we get to the position of challenging for promotion to the Prem. I say 'when' because we are one of the biggest clubs outside of the Prem and its the natural order of things. Its just a question of how long, it could be 2 years it could be 10. In terms of Mr Clowes planning, I think that will evolve as we evolve. We just don't know if he would want to carry on owning the club if somebody made him a really good offer, but my guess is he would sell provided he felt it was also in the clubs interest
  12. Playing better football now and getting good results. What's not to like? January will be key. It looks like Cashin will be going but for a very good fee which we can use to strengthen several positions as well as bring in a replacement for him. Hopefully the disappointments of the summer window in terms of bringing in a quality striker can be addressed. I think if we can get someone good up front plus get JJ fit and keep him for the rest of the season we will be cooking on gas
  13. Think we are a bit fortunate to be winning let’s be honest. Swop Fornah for Hourihane and we would compete better in midfield
  14. I don’t think we will still be under a restrictive business plan, other than one which we have imposed on ourselves. Controls required by the EFL ran for two years. I agree with your points though. But can we attract top loans? Evidence so far doesn’t suggest so
  15. Do you really think he achieved all that much? From a neutral standpoint he achieved promotion with a number of top class loan players in a most fortunate manner in a play off final playing a much weaker team than Villa who we had to play. Since then Forest have spent a fortune and struggled continuously. Where is the great achievement?
  16. I felt like that when I saw the team but thinking about it afterwards we didn't have a game Saturday so he needed to give them a run out
  17. If Bird is still here after January but sadly I feel he will not be. But if he is then he plays in the middle of the 3 behind the striker with Wilson to his right and NML to his left. If he is not here then Sibley to play there. Neither Hourihane or Smith get in my team as first choice starters.
  18. Thats great news. We are going to need him I think. I really like the idea of Thompson and Fornah as a double pivot in a 4-2-3-1.
  19. Fair play to him, that's the way to answer your critics, including me. Well done Paul
  20. Is he really playing that team? I was hoping to see some of the young players. Still it was Collins birthday I guess so him and Waggy it is. I had an alert on my phone to say we have a 'huge' injury boost ahead of tonight's game. Clicked on it to find that maybe Korey Smith might be available. I nearly fell over with excitement. I'm surprised he's not playing though I guess Warne doesn't want to rush him back
  21. I started going in 1970 and have no doubt whatsoever that behaviour and language was far worse in the 1970's and 80's than it is now. However it improved tremendously though the 90's and up to maybe 10 years or so ago. I think though it has got worse in recent years and is continuing to do so. I think the hooliganism that we exported to the continent is now being exported back to us and the latest generation of young lads appear willing to get involved. As I say, still nothing like the days when fans were herded like cattle along Osmaston Road - us on one side, away fans on the other - by Police on horses and with dogs. When there were pitched battles in the ground and outside(as opposed to the odd skirmish that you get now) when goals for the away team and their celebrations would be met immediately with the chant 'Your going to get your f****** heads kicked in'
