2-0 up away from home. An excellent hangover cure!
Would be good to see Washington get one today, to get him off the mark.

I don't think anyone is realistically saying Warne is immune from criticism, just that it would be sensible to stick with a manager for a while rather than sacking him early on with money we don't have.
For what it's worth I can see why people think PW is a bit limited, but if we wanted a manager with a proven record in this division we couldn't really have appointed anyone better (at least that we could afford or would want to leave another job for us).
Warne might be limited but so is Neil Warnock, yet if you want to navigate the Championship he's the man you go to.

I cherry picked to prove my point of how easy it was to skew stats and how easy it was to regurgitate data to fit a narrative, and it was fairly effective.

We didn't look a mess Vs Wigan. People keep repeating it, it doesn't make it anymore true. We were fine against Wigan and more than matched them, and they are likely to be one of the stronger sides in the division. Last year on opening day we scraped past Oxford who were in my opinion a weaker team.

Why 20 games? Is that a valuable arbitrary cut off point? If you factored in 25 games, the stats are 11 - 5 - 9. You have included our slump in form, and cut it off right before we came to form. That's a blatantly cherry picked statistic.

Realistically, how much can you really take away from 180 minutes of football? Did you genuinely think we played poorly against Wigan? I felt it was two pretty evenly matched sides personally. We were pretty crap last night, but bad performances happen. I think the Wigan result is also pretty hard to appraise given the obvious failings were due to player error rather than tactical error. And naturally you can say that the mistakes happened due to the system, I don't really buy that but the thing is that the sample size is so small it's pretty difficult to argue decisively one way or another.
If a supporter after one league game called for a manager out as some have on here, they would have also been a numpty last year. A sample size of one league game and one cup game isn't adequate.

It’s absolutely crazy, I’ve tried staying off twitter and just check this for transfer updated but I can’t actually believe the over reaction that’s happening, we’ve lost to Wigan after having the most attempts in the league, on another day we win tht game, we’ve lost a league cup game because of a mistake, first half way poor etc but we are literally 2 games in, the reaction is like we’re 15 games in having only won once, it’s mental, the team are gelling we are still 2/3 short give it bloody time, if in November/December time we aren’t any better then ask questions, this is the biggest over reaction I’ve seen for a long time, calm down

    …especially when they ‘boo’.
Now to be clear, I don’t believe any manager should get a ‘free pass’ - and as Warne himself has said it’s a results business.
However, I do find it sad that the camaraderie between fans and players seems to be disappearing so quickly after the club nearly went bust. God knows that David Clowes must think - but I suspect the word ‘ungrateful’ has popped into his mind a few times.
I really believe no judgement can be made until around Christmas about how we are doing. If we win the next 10 games everyone will be happy. If we’d won the first 10 games and then lost two everyone would be happy.

We should try not to lose perspective just because it’s the start of the season and everyone now feels deflated due to their pre season optimism evaporating. What did we expect really? These players need to gel- we are still short up front and we lost our best player from last season.

Give the club a chance, and if you’re booing don’t pile unnecessary pressure on the team. It won’t have the effect you’re hoping for!

Exactly. And what would they have us do anyway? Sack the manager? With what money? This is another thing people don't seem to have fully grasped - we don't have the funds we used to. I think many people deep down assume that being in administration is like a prison sentence or a time out for a naughty child, i.e. once your punishment is up you're back to normal. We still owe millions to various bodies, so we're still broke.

Plus Barnsley, Charlton, Preston, Millwall, Southampton and Hull were all beaten by lower league opposition tonight (the latter by Donny despite being managed by the idolised Liam Rosenior).
Wonder if their fans are all having nervous breakdowns as well?

I just don't understand this mentality. We already have fans calling for the manager to go 2 games into a season, and no doubt if it happened many of those fans would be giving it the whole 'the Derby County circus is back in town.'
As I've said before, people talk about how difficult it is being lower down the league system and how it's not going to be easy to get back to where we were but I'm increasingly inclined to say they don't actually believe that deep down. It's just something they think and say at surface level - in reality they expect us to waltz the league.
