When people insist on "read receipts" when they send you a work email. Seems to be more popular nowadays.
It just shows a lack of trust IMO.

Actually, a good story about Costa. I recently employed 2 ladies that were working in my local Costa. I had 2 pretty entry level jobs that did not pay much but was still a better deal than Costa. They had never worked in my industry but my lot had a gut feeling about them.
Both are absolutely brilliant and have doubled their wages in less than a year. Hard working, multi-lingual superstars. Could not me more happy with them. They both admit that Costa did teach them some good things and they learnt a lot..
Moral is I suppose, just because you may not hold the greatest job in the world at any given time, it does not mean that you cannot achieve anything, given a bit of luck and dedication.

Sat waiting in the barbers. What is it with blokes having their haircuts every 2 weeks now? There’s no difference and you’ve wasted £10. 3 people in front of me and they’re getting their beards cut, ear hair flamed, nose hair trimmed, eyebrows. Christ, I just want a haircut ??

De-constructed food in restaurants and people thinking it's a revelation. I ordered a lemon meringue pie for Sunday lunch and out came a spoonful of lemon curd, some shop packed merguines and some broken Mcvitie buscuits on a plate. Poo.

People promoting Red Nose Day. A day raising money for the poorest people in the world. Yet where are the red noses made? China, where people work for pennies in awful conditions........ a big reason why I promote local charities instead.

Getting prepared for their Saturday night down in Revolution later.
Was on a second date with a girl, somehow we decided to go to Revs. Think she had girl mates she wanted to me to meet. Anyway, I nip upstairs for a whizz, come back down to find a couple of gym meatheads were surrounding her. I thought ah bugger it, got no chance here, this is awkward. 6 foot plus, with shirts that were two sizes too small. And skinny jeans showing their ballerina legs.
Just as I started making conversation with the "one more rep" men, my date grabbed me and shouted "I'm bored of getting stared at by these tw*ts. Can we get a taxi back to your house?" She kissed me in front of the men and stuck her middle finger up at them. Their faces were a picture. After all their efforts sweating profusely in the gym, being arrogant by trying to take another man's girl for the evening, my skinny pipe arms defeated them.
Even though things never happened long-term between me and the girl, that night gave me a lot of confidence and showed me not to be intimated by baby oil rubbers ?

And I’m sure most peoples “small” suitcases are well over the maximum dims limit. Cheeky gits. And then they proceed to empty the contents of the suitcases whilst on board. Take all that out whilst you’re waiting in the departure lounge?

Businessmen on planes, particularly short haul, who race to passport control like their life depends on it. So utterly important to society, they need to barge past anything living or otherwise for fear that the world might miss thirty seconds of their brilliance.
Honorary mention to the bloke at Birmingham last week - he simply say on a bench at passport control, logged into the free wi-fi and caught up on whatever he needed to do while he waited for the queue to die down. Lateral thinking - respect to that.

I returned to work today to the news that one of my colleagues had tried to kill himself late on Christmas Eve and has been sectioned for his own safety.
Normally a lovely gentle giant type of bloke, he was behaving strangely at our work do on the 21st - being the life & soul of the party from the start and then very aggressive towards some of the others as the night went on - both of which are out of character. We all thought at the time that he was just getting drunk quickly but apparently he'd been battling his demons for months but only his wife knew.
Of course all us colleagues who would describe him as a friend are now looking for the signs that we missed along the way but there really weren't any until that night and even then, we just put it down to drinking too much & too quickly.
It's been said on here before but, for goodness sake, just talk & share your problems with those close to you - or strangers if that doesn't appeal. Help is there but you'll probably have to make the first move.
I shudder to think what two young kids almost woke up to on Christmas morning. I'm sure it was bad enough as it was.

I watched the Tyson Fury interviews and I was shocked at how much I related to his experiences with mental health. It shows money and success doesn’t matter. Granted, I’ve thankfully never been at the crossroads of if I want to live or die and I don’t think I ever will. I’m incredibly lucky to have people in my life who care about me. It helps ease any negative thoughts that might pass through my mind.
I unfortunately take things very personally and I believe it’s down to past bullying at school for years and mental scars sometimes don’t heal fully. It’s so bizarre because I can have someone yell at me and not affect  my day. However the next day, a tiny harmless remark can trigger the emotions, which is frustrating and has the knock on effect of having negative thoughts. I can go into my shell and not talk to anyone and even go to the work toilet and cry. Mental health does the stranges things and it’s unpredictable nature sadly costs lives.
In the interview, Fury mentions the time he had a panic attack and felt like dying. Having experienced a severe one, it flooded back the memories. You can’t breathe, you’re passing out, you can’t hold your waters, it’s the worst nightmare imaginable. And 18 months on, I still haven’t fully recovered. Granted, it’s about trying to retrain the brain but you can easily lose focus and the airways mentally close up. It’s a feeling like nothing else.
I know what I have is genetic and my sister is mentally unwell. Where as I’m open to talk about my issues, nobody can talk about it with her. She’s aggressive if you talk about her condition which is sad, so sad. But that’s not her fault. It never will be.
Mental Health has a stigma and is a silent killer of men and women. If I ever raise money it’s for mental health charities. We hear a lot about it being difficult to spot and I agree. I can quite easily put a poker face on for most of the day if needed. This is why we need to encourage more folks to get involved with talking about feelings and stop shying away from issues. Talking is the hardest yet the best starting point on the path to get help. And thankfully I have a platform to express my thoughts ??
