  1. Comrade 86

    Timi Max Elsnik

When you look at some of the young players who have slipped through our fingers, by fair means or foul, it's quite depressing. As I recall, Timi had a couple of chances at senior level and took to it like a duck to water and for me, this was bad one as it was our call, not the lure of the top 6. I'm not at all surprised that he's carving out a decent career for himself.
  2. Looks tidy enough in this division, but I think you're right. Not sure whether he's quick enough, as I've only seen him a couple of times, but at Championship level I suspect he'd struggle to look so effective.
  3. If I were his agent I'd try to find a club abroad. I think he needs a time out from the English game, but yes, I absolutely agree he has to leave Utd. He's clearly not happy there.
  4. A good few clubs sang that song, but the vitriol of the Brum mob really left an impression on me. I'd love to see them suffer what we did, not that it'll happen. I know I should not be so small-minded but I feckin loathe them.
  5. I think he's fallen out of love with the game and possibly a deal of the Utd fanbase. It's a shame as when he's on it, he's almost unplayable.
  6. Don't recall saying it was terrible, rather that we were the better side 2nd half prior to DR's brain fade. I'm aware of of where hammers sit in the table too.
  7. I thought in the 2nd half we looked the better side until DR shat the bed. Two atrocious tackles and I use the term 'tackle' in its loosest sense. I've not seen that much of these lads this year, but based on what I have seen, I'm not sure any are ready for men's football just yet. Weston and Allen both look to have a deal of technical ability and I thought JT played well without getting much luck. Otherwise a game to forget really, though our lads kept at it which I liked. Sidenote, but had to turn the commentary off. One of the commentators seemed pretty balanced but the one who said 'enjoy the ball' a gazillion times was boiling my swede. As @Ghost of Clough pointed out, this was a tough ask anyway, but I don't think we'd have been too far away from beating these all the same, had it stayed 11 vs 11.
  8. You're a good egg mate but blimey are you grumpy 😂
  9. You were wrong because as usual, you wrote him off after only 80 minutes of football, something you appear to have forgotten. Perhaps this absolute doozy will help refresh your memory.
  10. One for any dad's out there. https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2024/04/community-trust-dads-space-mental-health-podcast-episode-5
  11. I think it was quite brave of them to end it as they were obviously making serious shekels both here and in the UK. Jason Sudeikis was, I think, keen not to outstay his welcome so to speak and I think the most of the cast were gutted when it was made clear that there'd be no season 4. I saw them interviewed and it's clear how much fun they had making it as it is very silly, but in a enjoyable way. That said, it was the right decision, but I do miss some of the characters. It's just fluff, of course, but it was fun and did not take itself remotely and I found it quite endearing. Unusual for me as I typically hate sitcoms.
  12. Lance has actually ended up being better than I thought he would be, but as you've alluded to yourself, it's rather a unique set of circumstances that have afforded him the opportunity. I suppose the elite nature of F1 is in part, at least, what makes it so fascinating. The best of the best, going head-to-head in some of the most advanced cars ever built. It's a heady mix. On a different note, had watch of the MotoGP races and kept an eye on Acosta and boy, that lad is rapid. His style reminds me of Rossi, as he has that knack of arriving at a corner with me thinking, no feckin way he's slowing down quick enough and just waiting for the off, but somehow he does. Great dice with Marquez. Thanks for the heads up anyway. Might pay it more attention moving forwards.
  13. Now I'm even more confused...
  14. Kings is where my lad did his postdoc - pharmacology. If I understand you correctly, you've completed your DPhil and are looking to remain in Academia? In any case, it's a highly prestigious seat of learning and if you can secure work there, I'm sure it'll make things much easier in the future, as you'll be even more employable. Hopefully you get the nod soon anyway, as I know how stressful the wind down period of any contract can be.
  15. I loved Ted Lasso. Not sure why folk keep singling it out to be slated. I think it was a comfy pair of slippers for folk when they needed it (lockdown / Covid / the aftermath) and it's harmless enough even if you don't take the the characters. An 8.8 IMDB score tells its own tale, even if it's not for everybody.
  16. What's this about mate? Genuine question. I buy their training gear as it's really good quality, being the reason I ask.
  17. I always rated Yuki tbh. Even at the beginning, as when he wasn't going off-piste he was blindingly quick at times. I think also they've had to work hard to get him to take it seriously, as by all accounts, he's a bit of a lad! They even got him a personal fitness trainer with predictably hilarious results. He's got bags of talent if he can be 100% focussed, but that's a big if. As for Logan, well he's still one of a select group of current drivers who secured an F1 seat and they can't take that away from him. I do feel for him a bit, despite the mickey-taking, as he does seem a sound lad and it must be incredibly stressful for young lads when things aren't going well. I'm sure he'll find success in time, though perhaps in a somewhat less rarefied atmosphere than F1.
  18. Suspect it was as much a commercial decision as one based on talent, what with Liberty and the growing fanbase in the US. He did briefly flatter to deceive, but it's so hard for young drivers whose daddies don't own teams to crack F1. You literally have to be a driving god to stand any chance.
  19. Trick question - they're all true, though #3 is an exaggeration as they just frown upon the use of one's left hand, they don't actually slap you for it. Not often anyway. Have a great trip mate.
