  1. You're a good egg mate but blimey are you grumpy 😂
  2. You were wrong because as usual, you wrote him off after only 80 minutes of football, something you appear to have forgotten. Perhaps this absolute doozy will help refresh your memory.
  3. One for any dad's out there. https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2024/04/community-trust-dads-space-mental-health-podcast-episode-5
  4. I think it was quite brave of them to end it as they were obviously making serious shekels both here and in the UK. Jason Sudeikis was, I think, keen not to outstay his welcome so to speak and I think the most of the cast were gutted when it was made clear that there'd be no season 4. I saw them interviewed and it's clear how much fun they had making it as it is very silly, but in a enjoyable way. That said, it was the right decision, but I do miss some of the characters. It's just fluff, of course, but it was fun and did not take itself remotely and I found it quite endearing. Unusual for me as I typically hate sitcoms.
  5. Lance has actually ended up being better than I thought he would be, but as you've alluded to yourself, it's rather a unique set of circumstances that have afforded him the opportunity. I suppose the elite nature of F1 is in part, at least, what makes it so fascinating. The best of the best, going head-to-head in some of the most advanced cars ever built. It's a heady mix. On a different note, had watch of the MotoGP races and kept an eye on Acosta and boy, that lad is rapid. His style reminds me of Rossi, as he has that knack of arriving at a corner with me thinking, no feckin way he's slowing down quick enough and just waiting for the off, but somehow he does. Great dice with Marquez. Thanks for the heads up anyway. Might pay it more attention moving forwards.
  6. Now I'm even more confused...
  7. Kings is where my lad did his postdoc - pharmacology. If I understand you correctly, you've completed your DPhil and are looking to remain in Academia? In any case, it's a highly prestigious seat of learning and if you can secure work there, I'm sure it'll make things much easier in the future, as you'll be even more employable. Hopefully you get the nod soon anyway, as I know how stressful the wind down period of any contract can be.
  8. I loved Ted Lasso. Not sure why folk keep singling it out to be slated. I think it was a comfy pair of slippers for folk when they needed it (lockdown / Covid / the aftermath) and it's harmless enough even if you don't take the the characters. An 8.8 IMDB score tells its own tale, even if it's not for everybody.
  9. What's this about mate? Genuine question. I buy their training gear as it's really good quality, being the reason I ask.
  10. I always rated Yuki tbh. Even at the beginning, as when he wasn't going off-piste he was blindingly quick at times. I think also they've had to work hard to get him to take it seriously, as by all accounts, he's a bit of a lad! They even got him a personal fitness trainer with predictably hilarious results. He's got bags of talent if he can be 100% focussed, but that's a big if. As for Logan, well he's still one of a select group of current drivers who secured an F1 seat and they can't take that away from him. I do feel for him a bit, despite the mickey-taking, as he does seem a sound lad and it must be incredibly stressful for young lads when things aren't going well. I'm sure he'll find success in time, though perhaps in a somewhat less rarefied atmosphere than F1.
  11. Suspect it was as much a commercial decision as one based on talent, what with Liberty and the growing fanbase in the US. He did briefly flatter to deceive, but it's so hard for young drivers whose daddies don't own teams to crack F1. You literally have to be a driving god to stand any chance.
  12. Trick question - they're all true, though #3 is an exaggeration as they just frown upon the use of one's left hand, they don't actually slap you for it. Not often anyway. Have a great trip mate.
  13. Blimey, didn't ask for your life history mate 🤣
  14. Here's some fun facts mate, try and guess which one is not actually true... 1) They produce shedloads of hash but you need to smoke half a pound of it as it's weak as pish. 2) All buildings in Marrakech must be red. The city is built on red clay and all original buildings were made out of it. Not hard to see how the city earnt the moniker ‘the Red City’ 3) If you use your left hand to handle food, they'll slap you 4) The most popular drink in Morocco is green tea with mint and sugar and it's fookin foul 5) The have a city named Ass 6) Some Morrocans drink camel pee
  15. The72 crew are clueless mate. Word to the wise, don't take anything they say seriously. That's pure doom-scroll clickbait. How many forums are you on btw? After spotting you on the Wycombe board, a quick google reveals quite a lot, though given recent history, Wycombe is definitely the weirdest.
  16. Because it was a theorem first posited by a really intelligent French mackerel.
  17. Chin up lad. It's hard at certain times of the year. My mum went very early and despite that, I still dread October. All I can offer by way of encouragement is to think about what your dad would want for you. He'd not want his memory being something that weighs you down, I'm sure, at least that's what I tell myself when I get morose. As for the work thing, that's the nature of contracting, I'm afraid and most I know have seen things slow down recently. Contractors do earn a pretty penny when in gainful employment and there are lots of benefits to not being tied into one entity, so my advice would be squirrel as much away as you can while you're contracted, to carry you through the periods when you're not. Also, don't be afraid to spread your wings and look outside the UK. Most other countries are not being crushed by high interest rates and you might well find gainful (and very well paid) employment elsewhere and you're young enough to take a risk or two, though not knowing what it is you do, I'm not sure whether this is relevant.
