  1. They "CAN", but it's not a given. It's not a case of cramming as many folk shoulder to shoulder in each row Γ  la ye olde terrace! There's a lot of criteria to meet (or surpass) to enable any standing ratio over and above the current 1 (standing):1 (seat). Seat pitch and width plays a part of course. As does the step of the concrete floor, if you are looking to double up on standing between each row of seats/safety barriers. (This could be two behind one, or one behind two, as they have in "The Yellow Wall" at B. Dortmund.) Also the number of toilets and associated facilities. And of course, dimensions, numbers and square footage of concourses, and specifically stairways/vomitoria/exit doors etc. It's not all about the physical space available. I believe in some instances... might be Dortmund again, but don't quote me... your match ticket not only gets you into the stadium, but also through the direct access from the concourse to your specific block, so overcrowding is not even possible. (A bit like a 400 space car park showing 87 spaces remaining type thing, I guess!) Stops folk sneaking from their assigned position in K block into B block, as that's where the chanting is loudest! πŸ‘€
  2. Must have scared the poo out of 'em! ... Oh no... at the thought of him leaving, I mean, not that! πŸ‘€
  3. Actually, That's made me realise I'd misworded my initial post. It is indeed 3 folk in a 2 seat width, not a 1 seat width (which would result in a 1:3 ratio!). Tvvat me! πŸ™„ However, in response to your post, I'd say there's a stark difference between "Easily doable" and "Satisfies the meticulously planned and measured requirements of the 37 page specifications and outline authoritorial* documentation of the H&S executive Bod at Hi-Viz Towers". πŸ‘€ *I know... but it looks good! πŸ˜‰
  4. That's nothing compared to what J Arthur would do to him! πŸ‘€
  5. I think you're dyson with death, with comments like that! πŸ‘€
  6. August 16th 2023* (*The 46th anniversary of Elvis' death, and the 27th anniversary of my marriage to the current Mrs Mucker! πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘¨) "Liverpool FC has been granted a Safe Standing Licence for the 2023-24 season following an application to the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) earlier this year." https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/lfc-awarded-safe-standing-licence-new-season Either they need to update their FAQs on this topic, or I inadvertently quoted from old links earlier. Either way, apologies for posting misinformation and/or outdated information.
  7. There appears to be some confusion (Or is it just me?) with terms such as "Safe standing", "Rail seats", "Rail standing" etc. In August this year, The Dail Fail referred to "Safe Standing" in their article headline, but then used the term "Rail seats" in the article itself. Within that article, when referring to "Rail Seats" they name Liverpool as one of the trialling clubs. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12416803/Safe-standing-return-Premier-League-flights-opening-weekend-not-keen-new-stadium-changes.html Liverpool themselves refer specifically to "a railed seat and not a safe standing area". They continue... "Anfield will remain an all-seater stadium and the trialled areas with the new seats and safety rails are not β€˜safe standing’ areas. We want fans to sit safely. Rail seating creates a barrier to protect supporters in those areas flagged as areas of concern by the SGSA." They then appear to ignore all that... and the respective laws(?)... by adding "Anfield is still an all-seater stadium and the rail above the seat is to protect fans and make areas where there is persistent standing safer." (One assumes the term "persistent standing" refers to "Law/Rule breaking standing"? https://faq.liverpoolfc.com/portal/en/kb/articles/tkt-railed-seating-trial-at-anfield#:~:text=Q%3A What is railed seating, there is persistent standing safer. That suggest to me that a blind eye is being turned? I hasten to add, I have in the past aimed a similar accusation at DCFC, but it appears they are now heading towards a licenced "SAFE STANDING AREA". That's fantastic news imo, as it effectively gives us all "A choice" (Limited numbers permitting, of course)... They get a standing ovation from me, on this move. πŸ‘ "Once the independent barriers are in place, the club will be able to apply for and be granted a Safe Standing Licence and club officials have been in close dialogue with the Sports Ground Safety Authority for some time to ensure the necessary steps have been taken meet the required criteria." https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2023/12/work-starts-at-pride-park-stadium-to-introduce-safe-standing Interestingly, the new Everton stadium is apparently being future-proofed to allow a ratio of 1:1.5 or even 1:2 (Seats:Standing) as and when future revised laws come in (In the UK/England). I believe Dortmund have a 1:2 ratio in place already, at least in some sections. It appears this is one standing in front of the other within the same seat width, NOT a narrower space per person (shoulder to shoulder). (There's obviously a need for seat pitches to be of a certain depth to allow this, as well as the concrete step being within the guidelines). The 1:1.5 ratio refers to a triangle of standing fans. Be that 2 behind one, or one behind two, but all on two steps (per seat), and within the existing seat width. I'm gonna take a wild guess (Rightly or wrongly) and assume this wouldn't be possible at PPS, as it currently stands (or sits! LOL!) I assume the ratio will remain as 1:1, but I need to check out the step formation and take a tape measure with me next game (For the seat pitch), so for now, I stand to be corrected on that score! πŸ˜‰ Interesting times... and well done to DCFC, and DC himself I assume, for making this giant leap. I hope the young 'uns have half as much fun as I did, when I was able and allowed to stand for the whole game, without any concern for a high-viz tap on the shoulder! *You'll never experience the buzz of the sway though! They'll never take those memories away! Ossie Enders, Ossie Enders, la la la la la la... 🐏
  8. Wait. Didn't you just delay any fellow Rams behind you, from entering the ground sooner? It's not like you delayed the end of his shift, or gave him extra work to do. He's not under pressure to ensure everyone is in before kick off. I suspect he would have been equally smiley if you had taken another 15 minutes. Was he shrugging his shoulders at the same time as smiling back at you? What flavour pie did you have? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  9. How so? I take it the rail seats are narrower then? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I didn't realise that. πŸ‘
  10. Cod almighty. How the fooks hake did that happen! On the scale of things, I've never been so em bass ed! πŸ˜²πŸ™„
  11. As harsh as that bobble was, that was an utterly horrendous pass "to him"! It should have been along the 6 yard line, and ended up going from the front RH corner of the 6 yard box towards the far post! I repeat... Horrendous! I'd be a little tempted to dish out a slap, If I was that keeper! https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/13020527/that-will-be-on-some-reels-goalkeeper-comically-laces-the-ball-into-his-own-net#:~:text=Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes, against city rivals St. Pauli.
  12. I do find it quite astonishing that some moaners are qualified to determine who is disabled, and who isn't! πŸ‘€
  13. Not sure the "anyone" will prove to be 100% correct. I hear what you are saying, and I suspect the number is c. 99.9%, but if nobody moans, and/or nobody moves out, because of this, I will be absolutely amazed! Moaner's gotta moan! 🀣 🍻🐏
  14. Yes. At first I thought anyone standing (in this area) couldn't impede the view of anyone preferring to sit (in this area), but then corrected myself, as I'd initially misunderstood. Hence my edit. Yes again... it appears it's the whole upper tear, so no other areas can have their view impeded. And thrice yes... The club are between a rock and a hard plaice, and there will be moaners... which I hasten to add doesn't include me, as it doesn't affect me. But @angieram is right... we've all known this for a good while now, so anyone sat in the SS has very little right to moan, imo. NIMBY, yer say?
  15. Yes of course, @angieram. I appreciate your comments, and I know, I know... you are right (as usual). πŸ‘ My "To hell with..." comment was totally OTT and unfair. I suspect a few may have been expecting this to take an eternity ("Never happen"), but now it's real, I can see a few moving out, as is their want of course... but I'm sure there'll be a longer list waiting to move in. 🍻🐏
  16. *Well, not sure about the local bar, but I'm up for standing in the cold, to clap and wave him off! 🐏
  17. Thank you Claire. xxx If you can clarify the route/timings once known, it would be most appreciated. Living locally, and moreover working even more locally (Off Ascot Drive) of a weekday mid-morning, I will be extremely disappointed in myself if I cannot wangle the hour off to come to stand by and wave goodbye to the friend I never met... and what better place to do so than outside his beloved home of DCFC. (I did wonder... but didn't like to ask/intrude... about the funeral arrangements, as it was always my intention to try and say goodbye to Daniel "in person"). *Given the seasonal temperatures, I may well be wrapped in a hoody or similar wussy garb, rather than a flimsy footy shirt, but rest assured, it will be a DCFC hoody, and it will bear the Ram proudly upon my chest. Daniel deserves no less. 🐏🀍
  18. I'm intrigued as to how Mr A, sat in row N, will not have his view of the game impacted by Messrs B, C, & D stood in front of him, in row M. Left as is above, for clarity... but edited to add: I think I may have misunderstood that. Reading again, it seems it's the whole safe standing area that must not impact the view from any other (non safe standing) area? So to hell with anyone in there that wishes to sit and watch! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  19. You asked "Are we over defending". I took that to mean "Defending too much". I would describe "Defending too much"... with the emphasis on "too"... to infer that we failed. Failed to keep a clean sheet. Failed to retain a lead. Failed to keep hold of a point. Etc. I would argue therefore that, if we don't concede, we weren't defending "Too much". Whether we are clinging on by our finger nails, or offering up a defensive masterclass, we would have defended adequately if we didn't concede. I'm a simple soul, admittedly. 🐏
  20. Is there a team out there that can remain on the front foot for the entire 90+ minutes? It's human nature to try even harder after going one goal down, so the oppo is gonna come at us after we take the lead. It doesn't mean we are consciously/deliberately "going defensive". That's not the same as "Being forced to defend, due to the oppos determination". Credit the oppo for not giving up (And hope we nick another on the break!). "Nearly conceding a goal" doesn't affect the scoreline, so that should be a moot point in this particular discussion.
  21. I shouldn't worry on that score mate. I got passed by a Corsa once that must have been going nigh on 80! 😲 Admittedly there was a tail wind. πŸ‘€
