I’m with you on that but for me my biggest bug bear is trying to use it as a reliable prediction tool , yes it can be an indicator but an indicator at best , things change so fast in football, players click and un click in the blink of an eye , we see this regularly from half to half let alone game to game , they are interesting but people put far to much store in them

Looking at league table over and over again thinking if this hadn’t happened or that had or if we do this next game ect is one of my compulsions and for a team we all thought would really struggle for goals and had kind of sorted the defence we are 3 rd top scorers but giving away stupid individual error goals , cut out those and the stupid refereeing decisions and we may be right up there just now 🤷🏻‍♂️
for all the Bolton stats I reckon with a decent ref and 11 men we at the very least take a point at Bolton and actually fancy a smash and grab win

The biggest statistical reason why Brighton are where they are is the £500, million that Tony Bloom has put into the club, mostly in loans.

Stats arnt meaningless in my view , they play a small part but a part nonetheless, where your mixing me up is I’m replying to a few who think stats are EVERYTHING and tell you EVERYTHING you need to know  and if you follow them and spout a load of letters and numbers it somehow makes you a genius on some higher plain than the fans who turn up at games week after week , year after year , decade after decade 🤷🏻‍♂️,
when I feel it’s time for warne to go I will know and it won’t be stats that tell me , it will be goals for , goals against , points gained and lost and how I feel sitting in the ground

But aren’t we judging the likes of Plymouth , Bolton , ipswitch ect ect ect against the like of Accrington Stanley ,,, come on let’s at least be open handed and fair with these comparisons, one of these teams you mention / aspire to be like blow away the likes of Accrington Stanley and they are the new Man City , we do the same and it’s.    Ffs it’s only Accrington Stanley 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @Chris_Martin
Which are these ‘worse teams with worse players’?
    How do you quantify this?
Bear in mind, Wigan, Bolton and Blackpool all finished in a higher position than us last season.
Oxford have looked one good appointment and one good transfer window from being a threat in League 1 for some time.
Some of our fans would build a shrine to Brannagan before the ink was dry on his contract if he signed for us, for instance.
I think you are doing the teams we have played a disservice.

We could also count ourselves unlucky to not get a point or perhaps more in the three games we have lost.
A few chances and a few decisions go our way and by the same logic, we could easily have 3-4 points more and be considered flying.
Football is often down to very fine margins.

How do you demonstrate progress six games into the season and especially when the squad has had 11 new arrivals, 4-5 significant first team outgoings, and a significant number of injuries? What are we comparing? By what objective metric exactly?
We’re actually 4 points better off now v comparable fixtures in 2022-23. Is that progression? I don’t think anyone in favour of Warne would argue that because we are only six games in, not 36. Things are still taking shape. We won’t know how much we’ve progressed until March or April next year and whether we mount and sustain a promotion challenge.
Do they hand out trophies and prize money now? How do you define progress less than 20% into the season? Final positions are decided after 46 games. 40 games from now, if we finish 6th or above, isn’t that progression?

It might not be his first season in charge, but whether it’s your first or fifth season in charge, there is the possibility for things to go wrong.
There is the possibility for unforeseen circumstances and plans that seemed good in theory but look less good in practice.
Pre-season can only prepare for you so much. It’s not until you play some competitive football that you can see what works and what doesn’t.
The hope now is that Warne has seen this and moves to correct things.

The debate always seems to be Warne v Rosenior, but personally at this moment it’s Warne v Warne.
The manager he is v the manager he could be.
I think the start to the season has underlined that Warne needs to read the situation and adjust accordingly to save his job.
He has some reflecting and some learning to do and hopefully now is the ideal time. He has a two week break to assess the situation and see how we can get things right and move the team forward.
We have a squad set in place now until January, so he has to decide on the best eleven and the best system and style to get acceptable results and performances.
The question is whether the club and the fans will be patient enough to allow him this time to figure things out.

The Rosenior angle is just so lazy and uninteresting yet it repeatedly crops up. Posters that are anti Warne will just make statements about the amazing football they reckon Rosenior was going to get us playing (completely unrelated to the football we actually played under him and not grounded in any reality). Let it go. Rosenior is gone, your made is scenario isn't real.

Well pre-season seemed to be preparing our squad for the Great North Run. Giving them a football to kick in competitive match play caught a great many unawares.

I still think the effect of administration is under estimated.  Not just the obvious impact of relegation but everything behind the scenes.  The club was decimated and needs a rebuild from the bottom up.  This takes time, and money.
We should have expectation of getting out of L1.  But should we expect it quickly?  I recommend watching the documentary “The Fall and Rise of Luton Town”.  After administration and relegation from the EFL it took them 5 years to get back.  Their CEO said they wanted to come straight back but they benefited from it taking longer as the club was ready due to the rebuild required.  I’m sure if you asked their fans back then they’d be frustrated, but I bet now they wouldn’t swap it for anything.
I know there are no guarantees, etc, etc, etc but I’m using this as context for our situation.  Even without administration, Sunderland, Sheff Wed, Ipswich and more have had to be patient.

To be fair you started with the phrase EVERYONE could see he was building something good ,
we made it to the halfway line and we’ll beyond under warne and scored some cracking goals
possession football of the kind you yearn for is fine but by duck it needs an extremely good manager and extremely good players who understand and are capable of a change of pace , without that in the main you get turgid toothless boring teams ,
yes agree to disagree but please remember yours ( as is mine ) is only AN opinion it’s not THE opinion of everyone

I know what it is and it’s very much my point that any system style of play takes time and  can look honking , with the greatest respect I’ve been watching derby over 50 years and seen us play all types of styles under many many managers , keep ball bores me senseless, it’s just posh time wasting, give me toe to toe open games all day long ,I don’t drive a 6 hour round trip to fall asleep watching one of those pre game warm up pass it round routines for 90 minutes

The bit your not getting is the we bit , no offence but you see the we as everybody or even the majority, I didn’t see Liam in the same way as you and at the time most people I spoke to felt similar,
I felt totally frustrated watching us break to the halfway line then turn back , had kittens watching us faff around and lose it constantly in dangerous positions leaving us wide open and can honestly tell you my early thoughts were thank Christ the standard of finishing in league one was so poor or else we would be getting battered every week , either liam was poor at coaching the players to do what he wanted or they wernt up to it , I see plenty saying warne is trying to get players to play a system/ style they aren’t suited to ,
as someone has already stated there really is no point in all this liam v warne stuff , warne either gets the results in a results driven business or he s out
