Before losing Bird and Cashin (and Sibs?) having seen the quality of Warne's signings is the breaking point. Watching his excuse for football and all our homegrown youngsters gone - too much, way too much to bare.

They'd probably spend months re-looking over our accounts and arguing over whether we need that money to cover running costs before making a decision...and the window would be shut by then anyway. Just part of the conspiracy to keep us down.

    Agree.
I pay to watch professional footballers do the things I could never do as a player.
I loved watching McGoldrick play and currently enjoying watching Bird in possession.
Other than that, it’s just energy and effort. I could do those and whilst laudable they’re kind of a given.
Those qualities don’t provide entertainment. I could almost hear Eddie Waring commentating ‘It’s an up and under!’ on Tuesday.
It was ugly football and stupid football given our lack of tall strikers.
In my opinion we need to get youth in the team and get the ball back on the ground. It’s round so it rolls.
I don’t want to watch rugby.

In my opinion I couldn’t care less if we sit around in league 1 or league 2 for the next 5 or so years. We nearly went bust as a club and David Clowes literally stepped in last minute to save us from extinction. It’s been little over a year and we are already trying to blame the owner for stuff it’s honestly madness. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would never even think of blaming him for anything the next few years at least while the club gets its self together again. His plan is to obviously stabilise us as a club and get us back to being competitive again. It’s a long process so I really wouldn’t expect quick results; it’s going to be a tough few years.

Nine months ago we drew 0-0 aet at Liverpool.
This season we have been outplayed by Wigan and Oxford.
The body language of the players is poor and the tactics make no sense.
The two centre halves on whom we pinned our hopes look poor.
I’d say there’s trouble at mill.
I really hope Warne, Bradley and Nelson can all turn things around. There is no joy in any of them failing.

I mean, I’m lost for words at this stage. 8Leeds has certainly got some of the details right, but I can’t understand how we consistently put in such embarrassing performances and results. Even playing our worst 11 and getting tactics wrong, we should still be able to beat Oxford. I’ve never even heard of any of their players.
I don’t care about contracts, and I don’t care about those of you who continue to defend him, Warne has to go for the sake of the club and for my sanity.
(The usual suspects can save the ‘you can sod off then’ posts, I won’t dignify them with a response.)

Hate to say I told you so, but this league isn't the cake walk you lot made it out to be 12 months ago.
All the tinpot sides raise their game when the 'big boys' are in town. You can't ever get an away ticket as allocation is always so low. The appeal of new grounds/teams also rubs off pretty quickly once you've failed to get up in that first season down there; which, if you fail to do, can result in you getting stranded for several years. Ask Pompy, Leeds, Sunderland, and us of course.
I also couldn't get my head around why so many pundits thought you were going to walk it this year. You've an ageing squad, signed a bunch of over the hill players, and lost your best player/goalscorer to a L2 side. Who's replacing the goals that Didsy bought you last year? Waghorn was never that good even during his first stint.
I think you'll do well to make the playoffs again to be honest.

Twelve months ago we looked like a Championship side, relegated by a points deduction and trying to play its way out of the division. Now we look like a League 1 team trying to scrap its way out of the division. The former may not have got us promoted but I know which I preferred.

    Lee Carsley?
I would rather Paul Warne turned into a competent football manager who played the formation best suited to our players, played round pegs in round holes, drilled the team tactically so all knew what we were doing on and off the ball and showed signs that he was building a progressive team playing attractive football. That is clearly the best option because we can’t afford to sack them all but if this continues can’t afford not to.
I feel sorry for Clowes but a 4 year contract is not looking like a good move is it. Pretty sure we are all feeling terrible this morning - imagine how he’s feeling.

His multiple promotions from league one came from being unable to keep Rotherham in the championship… funny how they’ve managed to establish themselves in that league after he came to us

The football is horrible to watch. We can’t pass, so many balls are hit aimlessly long, our defence is being asked to play in a way that doesn’t suit it at all, the midfield is lost, wing backs offering next to nothing defensively and their sole purpose is to try and cross a ball in which is predictable and they often find them selves completely isolated.
This is nothing to do with the formation, it’s how it’s being applied tactically. The manager appears either to stubborn to change it or hasn’t got the ability to.
The excuses that are coming after poor performances are starting to grate.
On paper, this squad should have enough ability to finish top six but that will only happen if it’s played to it’s strengths.

    Have they? Which ones?
I think what he's trying to do is *very* different to the Warnock/Rowett types of setup.  Those teams are solid, well-organised, hard-to-break-down etc.  Warne's "everybody running all the time" type thing is the polar opposite of that.  We aren't setting out to be disciplined, or organised or anything like that.  As far as I can tell, the idea is basically to try and get overloads all over the pitch (defensively and offensively) by out-running them - we're effectively trying to play 2 fullbacks and 2 wingers, 4 defensive midfielders and 4 attacking midfielders, except it's the same 6 players running between both ends of the pitch.  It's by definition chaotic.
And personally, I think there's only so far that can take you.  The ball will always move quicker than players can, and as the standard of players gets better, you'll get diminishing returns as to how much you can close that gap by running more.  Better players will keep the ball better, you'll be chasing it more and getting tired quicker.  And better players will punish mistakes more, because no matter how much you run, in a system like that you will get caught out sometimes, when everyone goes forwards and doesn't get back in time

    hi all
What most concerns me about PW is his inability to just shut up when necessary.  Rambling interview answers, accidental revelations of what should be confidential and kept within the squad - he does seem to be verbally incontinent TBH and this needs to change.
In your workplace, if your boss (who after all is responsible for your career) wanted you plaster your cubicle with photos of your family and asked inappropriate questions about them all the time, how long would it be before you reported that boss to HR?  Players are entitled, as professionals in the public eye, to a private life and to confidentiality.  Some of the stuff he says on the radio makes even me squirm, so I wonder how some players must feel?
At what point does concern for his employees well-being morph into just David Brent-isms?  I wonder if we have now passed Peak Warne?  A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.  A footballer who has read a few Psychology books is also a dangerous thing.  This, remember, is a profession in which Roy Hodgson is regarded as a high level intellectual and Eric Cantona is apparently a philosopher by virtue of having a French accent and talking b******s.
I'm not accusing PW of any malice at all, but I do accuse him of naivety in the extreme.  There is a reason why most managers choose their words carefully in interviews.  Also, an apparent lack of verbal and cognitive discipline in public makes one wonder if he isn't actually similarly disorganised in other respects and relying on his staff to make the difficult calls behind the scenes.  Note also the "election" of the team captain, which is actually a complete abdication of his own responsibility to decide who has the necessary leadership qualities to wear the armband, accept the responsibility for that choice, and appoint the right player.  A football team is not a democracy.
PW is very typical of the modern zeitgeist, in which everyone is all nicey-nicey on the surface, but underneath lurks a refusal to (a) grow up and accept the passing of time, (b) accept adulthood and the burdens and tough decisions that go with it and (c) accept that we can't be all things to all people all the time.
At this club, bobble hats and bull***t will only take you so far.  He has adjusted badly to being at a larger club with much more press and public scrutiny, and the signs are that it's gone to his head.  Time to cut the c**p and focus on delivery IMO.
"Popularity is a crime from the moment that it is SOUGHT".  No employer can ever keep everyone completely happy all the time, it just isn't possible, especially when you have 22 players competing for 11 starting places.  Gaining respect is more important to a manager than cultivating popularity, and respect lasts longer than popularity too.  In seeking popularity, my thesis is that PW has actually lost the respect of many people, hence the flat performances.  And a desire to be universally popular is nothing more than the manifestation of his own inner insecurity, and if he is to address that properly then he needs to take a sabbatical.  Failing that, just rig him up to a machine that delivers an electric shock if any answer to a question goes on longer than 30 seconds.  A few days of that should do it LOL.
If PW lived up to his own hype, we should see (a) a team greater than the sum of the parts, (b) in an appropriate formation, (c) busting a gut for the manager and the club.  So what happened?  Last seasons' tropes are already evident again this season - lack of imagination, fragile under pressure, losing games in the last 15 minutes, wrong formation for the strengths of the available players etc etc.
Warne lovers, by all means disagree or tell me I'm wrong.  However, when he was appointed we were 7th and we finished...7th.  Not a disaster, but not earth-shattering either.

they have just brought a backup keeper that will cost more than anything we are likely to spend in the next 5 years combined we are worlds apart from competing at the minute
