  2. Here is hoping he can do us a solid and bang a few in the net🀞
  3. watched this too last night, really harrowing. pathos and bathos aplenty. Could barely watch the angst of David Roper , telling the reporter of how his mate hanged himself. I lived in Bestwood /Hucknall area then and for years after the mere mention of Thatcher would cause a round of spitting on the floor. These were ordinary folk misled by their own and brutalised by a Tory govt, certainly not the villiains they were cast as
  4. The game play was dull up to the hour mark, they took the dark arts to a new level on and off the ball, thankfully Adams fought /blocked/cheated and generally was a thorn in their side also, then Smith came on,which seemed to signal far more attacking intent, culminating in a fine save by their keeper from Bird Once the crowd joined in as well, we proper got our tails up and that sublime pass from Smith set NML on his way, and Sibley scored a peach of a goal. MOTM was definitely Adams, though all the back four should get a shout out too.
  5. Brother I love your word Bring 'em on watch 'em fall COYR. 🦍🦍🦍
  6. I like the sound of this, with our support we should be at least lower prem /upper ccc or am I missing something? How Bournemouth are sustainable in the prem beats me πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
  7. 45 wasted mins first half Is Warne that naive/stupid? has he/management team done their homework? what lead them to believe that 3 at the back was the way to go when they had one guy up front, does it take 3 defenders to cover that? 4-3-3 was the obvious way, or 4-4-2 but no lets persist for half an hour in a formation, that the players flounder in and then expect them to change in game time by the way. I am firmly starting to believe that a better manager would be getting more from this squad. Just because we are second does not detract that we could easily be a country mile ahead in the table. Loved Adams' contribution was just what we are missing, and I almost put my head in my hands when he ran out of steam, why is his fitness level so low?
  8. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/feb/08/blue-cards-and-sin-bins-could-be-introduced-to-football-under-ifab-plans Not sure if this has been discussed on here, but I do like the idea of blueing for the cynical professional foul that all to often ruins a promising move. How that would be implemented goodness knows ????
  9. I love posts like this as men seldom "out " their feelings and sometimes the feeling of belonging is the start you need. I met Mostyn many years back via another forum (rj) and a meet up at the Brewery Tap pub along with Mucker and others, he is a top bloke and I am so glad to hear your life is now shaping up. As a man of a certain vintage, dealing with family issues aplenty, prostate problems, retirement issues etc, I can offer some insight into many of life's traumas as I have probably already been there. For me retirement from a busy business, proved to be far more traumatic than I had first envisaged. Wifey encouraged me to try an allotment as I have always had a keen interest in growing stuff. At first I was dubious thinking I was just exchanging one type of work for another. Anyways on the principle "it cant hurt to try"I got my name down and eventually got my first half plot. Two years on I have 3 further plots and a group of friends with similar age and outlooks. The improvement in my mental and physical well being is immeasurable, and whilst I doubt it would suit some people, the principal of joining in with the group of any activity can provide a focus and an outlet. We usually have coffee together around ten each day and get stuck in to all kinds of topics. Once we have put the world to rights its back to the weeding lol. Just hope you can all enjoy your later life as much as I am, and don't be shy about meeting people, they will welcome you warmly into the group in most cases 🦍
  10. Good news Bucko with talent Rock on Tommy πŸ‘
  11. I stated in the Lincoln thread that I would be interested to see how P/Boro perform at Sincil Bank as they are the best team I have seen at PP this year. Lo and behold 2 points dropped We are not as bad as some on here would have it, we do struggle with the high press /hoofball tactics (Crewe/Bradford etc) The difference in this game was we finally got the ball on the ground as they tired and we had enough class in the team to force a result. I am finding it difficult to understand how some supporters expect to see Man City dominance from a team in League one. We are keeping pace and the top 5/6 are so close, so one "off" performances are acceptable, providing we keep racking up the points COYR 🦍
  12. No point moaning about the pitch, since the all barely touched it. They play hoofball, we joined in first half, second was better once the subs came on. Two lovely hits for the goals, and I believe we deserved the win as the only team playing football Skyball is so dull to watch. Sibley MOTM really ????? Also loved the formation mowing team at the very end πŸ˜‚
  13. to state the bleeding obvious............. I would think by now young Mr Warne would know the shortcomings of the squad and each individual player therein. We went on a run because we were limiting the opposition to a few shots/goals, and we had the ability to outscore them as they tried to get the better of us. This goal scoring has now been all but eradicated by packing the box and having a player or two, who can use the ball at speed and overcome our defences. The lack of goals is more of an issue for me than anything, hopefully, new signings and players returning from injury will go some way to easing this. One thing else, we need to leave someone back who can match the speed and /or read the game, of their attacker. Cashin is wanting in both departments and neither he or Nelson seem able to match the speed, Elder doesn,t read the game well enough. Maybe leave two back is the answer? 🦍
  14. Reasons to be cheerful Many teams have sussed our style(such as it is ) this is quite common around the half way point We are in a very strong position to make the play offs, which I would have taken at the start When we have a blip the size of Pompey and Oxford then is the time for flapping We have new blood in the forward line and every reason to expect a strong run in Reasons to flap My only criticism is that by pushing too hard we are leaving ourselves light at the back and teams are using fast counters to beat us, I would like to see a measured/controlled approach Feel free to add to either list 🦍
  15. I want to see how Pboro fare against them next week before commenting too much A draw seems a decent return today. Would have taken it before kick off. Tricky place to come
  16. Magna Carta Large Cart? Not so dumb eh?
  17. Point well made, we have just been failing to get that "rub off the green" in a number of games, but still managing to get the points. I had this feeling for a while that once all the runes fall the right way, somebody is gonna get a right hammering from us. Hope its Lincoln 🦍
  18. glad to see Vickers in goal , this undoubtedly will signal a return to hoofball as very eloquently displayed v Bradford I look forward to being able to stretch my neck as my teeth chatter, it all helps to stay warm. Wonder how many headed keepie -uppies we can look forward to.πŸ€ͺ
  19. At one point they headed a ball between the 2 back fours ad nauseum, to the point where the crowd were actually cheering it like keep-e -uppies Hardly bloody football is it, I was under the impression it was played on the ground silly me
  20. Had to laugh when a wag in the crowd pointed out that at the end of the first half "we have brought them down to our level" Vickers not good enough at this level, was the starting point of our attacks and so slow in distributing, he was resorting to the tried and tested lump it up to their defenders who 100% won that battle. Their Number 15 was a beast in their back four (whose bright idea was it to put Ward a foot or so shorter to mark him????) MOTM for me. Cue the midfield who won virtually nothing all night and when they did they were outnumbered and outclassed. They couldnt make a pass in a brothel. So they overran us again and again, luckily they had no idea where our net was (as pointed out by an earlier poster) or they could have been at least 2 or 3 up by HT HT Subs made an impact and but for some superb blocks and tackles we may have just sneaked a goal but again against a compact defence we tried everything, more hoofball, passing around and down the wings, a ton of over/under hit crosses etc but alas no joy. Twas inevitable that a smash and grab was on the cards and when they scored there was no way we were coming back in to it. As a team they were far better than us, and most certainly wanted it more. Having been a supporter for 50+ years I am used to the inevitable collapses (see England Cricket team batting) and fully expect something similar V Burton on Monday. The fixture list looks reasonable weighted in our favour in the coming months, but I still doubt we have the wherewithal to beat Bolton in March, so I suggest we should be still possibly up for a trip to Wembley, but for a different reason.
  21. Just back from a super game to watch. We gave as good as we got, but for the last 15mins they pressured us relentlessly and we looked like a boxer on the ropes. Thought we had done enough to draw but they got the final punch in. I loved their man 14 Randall absolutely bossed the midfield passing and made hourihane and bird look rubbish. Perhaps a Jan target? Anyways was a marvellous game, two sides wanting to win, unfortunately we fell a bit short at the end but given a bit of rest we could have done them. On to Fleetwood COYR 🦍
  22. They threw the kitchen sink at us early doors, but once we calmed and started playing there was only gonna be one winner. The corners and possession etc took its toll and we drove through what could have been a train wreck with heads held high Holy moly if we can take 'boro on monday I will have to believe, thats when it gets really scary 🦍 COYR
  23. Forest fan goes for a job as Santa coz he heard they only ask one question......What is your name? He got 75% πŸ€ͺ
  24. I have had ST in West and East. and can confirm that there is a time line in the centre of the pitch similar to Quantum Leap (70's TV ) Sonny Bradley operates in this area and often disappears when the opposition are in attack
