It’s one of these for me:

    1) Genuinely believes that the biggest takeaway from the Mel era was that chopping and changing managers constantly was the problem, as opposed to just hiring bad ones (which was the problem)

    2) He can’t afford to sack him, which is troubling in itself because that’s something you really need to be able to afford in order to run a football club…

    3) He is publicly backing him but has different thoughts privately (a bit like @Duracellwas suggesting)

    4) He is quite happy to let us go through years of being a League One club because a League One Derby County is something he can afford to run, as opposed to a Championship one.

Regarding 4. He won't be able up afford a league 1 club if he sticks with Warne and the attendances drop. It was 24K last week. I wouldn't be surprised if it soon gets down to the 21K mark.

  2. He has had over 12 months to shape us. He has had a transfer window to bring in his own players. I would say we are a worse side than we were a year ago.

He has had to cope with injuries but the players we have should be more than enough to get promoted.

If we stick as is then I think we will finish top half of the league but not in the top six. The football has flashes of brilliance but overall is very poor to watch.

Oh, and our top scorer was signed through luck.

Loose tomorrow and he has to go.

  3. My thoughts

I can't see Warne getting us promoted this year.

The football is pretty dire to watch.

    Home performances are bad.

The players that have been signed don't look to have improved us.

The team from this time last year was better than now.

There have been some crucial injuries.

We have too many old players that flatter to deceive.

I think we have a team with no balance.

We have a team with no credible scoring threat

Our top scorer was signed as a fluke because he came along to a mates testimonial

Can Warne improve what we have got? I'm not sure he can. He has had a while to influence the team and we should be seeing improvements. This is league 1 not the premier league. Not saying that these things can't take time but i'm not seeing any improvement in the side.

I am very reluctant to say a manager should go as that can cause more problems but I don't really want to spend another season in league 1.

I think give Warne until December. If we see improved performances and we are in with a fighting chance of play offs then he stays but if performances remain as they are and play-offs are looking out of reach then he should go to give a new manager time to sign new players and possibly make a fist of getting in the play offs.

Not to sound arrogant but we really shouldn't be in the position we are.

I would drop hourihane he is passager and lose the ball to easley and puts us into trouble and take captain off him and give to craig Forsyth.

I agree. I couldn't quite believe the love in for him on Radio Derby. I don't see it with Hourihane. He seems to have no influence on the game. He made one shocking pass, pinged it blindly into the center of midfield from the left, i couldn't fathom what he was trying to do. He runs around a bit, rarely tackles (although Radio derby were trying to suggest the goal only came about because he made a routine tackle in the middle of the park that Cashin would have got anyway), can't seem to head anything and yes he takes the set pieces but I wouldn't say he's that great at it ( how many goals have come from them). However we don't really have any other options in CM, Maybe Sibley. I think he's living off his history and his name. If he was someone who had come up through the academy he wouldn't be getting a game.

  5. I just looked through the squad and we are very light in the CM position. If bird is out injured (or gone) we only really have 2 genuine CMs.  I am amazed we haven't signed players in this position. No wonder we are struggling. We've lost knight and now looks like bird. Can we really play in the current formation being so weak in the centre.

  6. I think why everyone has jumped on the bandwagon of Warne out is the benefit of doubt of last season is gone. Last season he came in and had to change things with no time to work with the players and they were players that were effectively other teams cast offs.

It was understandable Warne had problems because he had aging players and he couldn't really bring anyone in. He has now had a full pre season with some of his own signings and we don't look any better than last year ( a disjointed mess, with players out of position and making silly individual errors). Being objective were OK against Wigan until the first goal. But even for all that early promise against Wigan we still had the same problem of not being able to score.

For me we should have had more pre season games and tried this system along with a plan B. Also we haven't recruited to replace those that have left. It just seems odd we can't do that when you see teams like Fleetwood, Oxford etc making some good signings ( no disrespect to those teams).

The difference, for me, this season is Warne is solely responsible for the results. He has had the time to make the team how he wants and the way we play is firmly on his shoulders.

  7. It's a tough one for Clowes. I'm sure Warne is better than the current results are showing but he needs to find a way to start making it work. he needs to adapt and I'm not sure he wants to adapt. I know we are only three games in but it is carrying on the pattern of last year. We should be at least achieving a play off spot but I can't see that happening if Warne is still in charge.

For Clowes it is then a matter of finance. How much it would cost to get rid and then the cost of the subsequent turmoil and change without the guarantees it will bring any better results.

Warne's relationship with the players may not be good at the moment and he picks the team but it is the players individual mistakes that have cost us two games. I actually thought up until Wigan scored we looked a really good side in the opening game.

I can't see Clowes doing anything for at least another 4 or 5 games. It's when the crowds start to really drop that Warne is in trouble

  8. It's hard to say anything much positive about the team at the moment. It's like we're watching a mess of strangers playing. The players we have added don't seem to be showing anything and the team seems clueless.

Warne has to change things sharpish.

Saturday is a chance to show he can turn this around but It does feel like his time is coming to an end.

All managers are on borrowed time. A couple of wins and last nights abject first 45 mins will be forgotten.

My musings are .. if it’s 3 at the back then Fozzy has to play. If we do another adaptation that involves 4 in the back line then Bradly will do a great job. Will Warne try and push a single agenda or will he be brave enough to have more than one chosen set up ?

I agree about Fozzy. he did a superb job back there last year. I don't think he plays well on the left, wonder strike aside.

  10. Lets be honest the whole road system around there has been a bit of a b*lls up. The third lane on the A52 should have helped things but they didn't make it dual lanes coming off of the A52. They then crapped the plan to make the road go over the roundabout at Costco. this mean traffic lights were introduced and causes the traffic to back up as much as it did before when you had the pedestrian crossing. When you are going to the stadium, busses now park on the opposite side of the road. This means you have two lanes going into one and causes the traffic to back onto the costco roundabout. Someone some where needs to get some common sense.

Leaving car park A is always a problem. we have to wait for the away coaches to leave so it is always ages before we even get to move. Can't they hold the away fans back until we leave. Also on the road from the club shop roundabout to the costco round about, why don't they stop any traffic coming towards the stadium. until the car parks are clear use that road for all cars trying to get out so all 3 lanes. It's daft all that traffic has to go down to a single lane.

Some simple changes could make a big difference.

  11. I think we all need to be calm about this as it is only two games. Panicking will make it end up being a self fulfilling prophecy that he will go. You can't hide it hasn't been a good start but Warne deserves time to work on the way he wants to play. If players want out then get out and good riddance.

On Saturday I thought we looked good. Entertaining play, lots of opportunities but undone by individual errors and lack of top quality striker.

That's the thing we are crying out for, someone who can stick the ball in the net. We had the same issue last year but at least we had McGoldrick. If we want to do anything this year we need a striker.

I know he's there to "pass" into the net, but that stat is shocking. Three passes completed in 90 minutes on the pitch.

We really need to slow down this 100mph galloping around and get some control back into our game.

What mid-season form. I must have missed that. He really offers nothing and yet somehow gets selected every game. How he lasted the 90 minutes I don't know. His position, anticipation and runs are all over the shop.

  13. I always struggle to get a mobile signal at pride park so I can't check on scores as the game is happening. I understand the technical reasons and the limitation of a mobile network. What would be great is if Derby county could provide a free WiFi connection for supporters in the stadium. Would anyone know who you could approach in the club to ask about this. I know it wouldn't be cheap to set this up for 30,000 supporters and maybe it is just a perk for season ticket holders but I'm sure most people have the same problem.

  14. It was like a Plymouth love in on Sky. The commentators were clearly supporting Plymouth.

It was never a penalty. White's little toe may have contacted the Plymouth players big toe but it was in no way enough to have any effect on the Plymouth player. The ref couldn't wait to give the penalty.

What was really getting on my nerves was when the female host kept saying Harvey white brought down the Plymouth guy. That was not true. The guy dived, there was no criticism of that. Then them going on about how Plymouth got such a great record at home, yes because the referees just give you stuff.

Well hacked off today. Well done to all the fans that travelled.

Are we ever going to find out when this game is? They do realise we do other things and need to make arrangements. Perhaps I should put this in the ‘why I hate modern football, thread. It’s becoming frustrating and a bone of contention in my household, with me being told I have to do other things but me not committing because of the game.

My thoughts exactly. How hard can it be. West ham and ourselves agree. Tv to decide on which game they want to televise.

Registered and purchased 3 tickets, got as far as accepting card details then threw me out cos PostCode wasn't local, only option to phone the club.

    Ah well

They must be so certain that anyone who support MK dons must live in Milton Keynes. Seems reasonable though  ?

Although I was proud of all the players last night, I was particularly pleased for Birdy, Cash, Sibley, Fozzy, Knight and Tommo.

They endured with us last season, got relegated and still stuck around. Character and spirit shown by all of them and I'm pleased they got their opportunity to play at Anfield. Just sorry Curt wasn't fit enough to experience it.

    Truly our own.

True, I was particularly pleased for Tommo. He's had some stick recently but I thought he played very well when he came on.
