Q&A with SM and SR...

Fecking ell....

7m in transfer fees and an extra 3 (or 4million) on wages and we've arguably gone backwards.

But but but.... we've got the best coach in the world who only ever improves the dross signed by the last fella, he's so good he has managed to cut out every single individual player mistake from the likes of Forsyth and Grant and he's made Jake Buxton into a player (oh hang on a minute)

I know.

Sigh.

If that is how you feel why don't you go along and ask the question yourself? Although I believe Mac has had a part to play in our 'failure' to get automatic promotion to say he has 'fooked our season up by not getting a target man and D/M in' is ridiculous in my opinion.

Anyway after you have asked your question would you mind asking them how they feel about the negative fans that have failed to get behind the team during their first real bad spell in 2 years, and also how they feel about the fans who sit there demanding more signings despite nearly £7m already being spent on transfer fees etc this season.

That's you opinion , which you are perfectly entitled to have, so am I.

Do you not think it was an huge oversight not to get a specialised D/M in even before the start of the season , knowing that Thorne could not be relied upon, and the only other recognised one being in the twilight of his career and not guaranteed to last too many consecutive games.

Despite what one of your fellow conspirators continues to say Mascarell is NOT a D/M and never will be , don't mean he isn't a decent player.

Do not think we have ever played Hughes , Eustace , Mascarell together have we ? , may have been something .

Contrary to what you may think I am not an habitual moaner , I had us to win 6-0 the other night, not like some on here who even predicted us to lose .

I think the issue was to do with us trying to play the best "on the ball" football team

Mascarell at CDM is similar to Arteta playing there for Arsenal, great passer of the ball but other areas to play the role may be lacking.

Looking at Arsenal now with Coquelin, someone who's main objective is to protect the back 4, playing there you can see the difference in their play

I know you have an allegiance to Nigel, and I respect that, but while SM is far from the best coach in the World, he has improved the team hugely.

We are angry that we are 'only getting the playoffs'.

A playoff place in the 5 years previous to SM would have earned an open top bus parade through the City.

Don't count those chickens yet mate , lets get a result at Huddersfield first.;)

I've calmed down a lot now that I don't have to care about the personal side of it troy, hell I've even started enjoying some of your posts and finding myself quite liking you again :-)

Most of what I wrote above is "slightly" tongue in cheek.

But bloody hell that's a massive increase in spending and a lot of it on players who haven't made a jot of difference.

Personal allegiances to one side, if it was Clough who'd spent that much on benchwarmers he'd be getting strung up by now.

I don't believe the Mac is responsible for individual player errors as much as I didn't believe Nige was responsible for them either but to have read some of the stuff on here about how Mac has improved every aspect of the playing side, then to watch the same players making the same mistakes and Mac get absolved of any blame by the same lads who slated Nige week in week out. Hmmm, just a touch hypocritical I think.

Having said that as well, I really believe that after such an increase in spend, if the Mac doesn't get Derby up with the undoubted backing the board have given him, then it's a massive failure on his CV.

I agree. I think not getting promoted will have to go down as a failure. I also think that if we don't go up, the Toon job may not still be on the table.

I think some of SM signings will still come good. Personally I think Albentosa will be a hell of a player. He shows glimpses here and there and once he has adjusted, he will evolve. I think the same with Christie. The lad is very young.

I don't understand why Dawkins gets the grief he gets, and Thorne (injuries aside) is a future PL mainstay.

I think one problem that SM may have encountered is a loyalty to Clough from certain players. That is a compliment to Clough and he has already taken a fair few players to United. Bryson is massively loyal to Nigel and had Clough got a Championship job, I honestly believe Bryson would have gone with him. Possibly the same could be said of Buxton.

You are right though, the board have given SM the tools.

Hold on, we have three players on the books who can play the 1 defensive position - how many more do you want us to sign? Sometimes, unlucky is a word that can be applied.

I think you're grumpy head has got you confused again Edward.

The figures quoted for buying of players was 6.77m and the increase in wages was quoted as 3m (or 4 million with the pay offs)

Stil don't let that stop you from going off on one again.

Silly owld bugger.

Hi Ronnie, welcome back.

If you believe that league position is related to transfer fees and wages, then surely you must agree that Mac has DCFC in about the right position or maybe even higher? Don't forget Forest and Fulham spent probably our whole budget on one player!

Getting a team up out of this league should be nigh on impossible given the parachute payment debacle coupled with FFP.

To see us in with a shout and watching us play good football (up until 2 months ago) is a good achievement, not a failure in my opinion.

The accounts don't relate to the current season, do they?

You're off on your usual pro-Clough colonically irrigated hobbyhorse, blaming McClaren for fecking up this season, but the accounts relate to last season - when McClaren resurrected the season which your man had already condemned to the dustbin of history by October.

I might be old and baffled and making this up, of course.

I think you are baffled and making it up my old duffer of a friend.

The accounts relate to a year not a season.

Still don't let that stop you or indeed others having a go at me just for posting.

My usual pro Clough hobbyhorse? Thanks to bully boy keyboard warriors like you and your mate SRG I dont even post here anymore.

Still well done, at least you're a full fan.
