Curtains
Ward and Robinson won't work although I think Ward is a very good wide player. Clough at end of last season said we need a new striker as we couldn't finish off the loads of chances we created. !! He's changed his tune. DcFc Dyycheee
When Davies sells I imagine. We don't need to rush, plenty of time!
BorneoRam
Ball went to sweeten the Keogh deal, Clough said he would have liked him around but the made a call that if it took him leaving to get Keogh in then so be it and in theory he will start at Cov so good move for him - we defo need a new striker and I believe we will get one but Davies will go first. Maguire didn't factor last season (rightly or wrongly) so no loss there until he scores against us on opening day (which would seem inevitable) - I don't gamble very often but may put a few quid on that. Then it will be Robinson and the new guy with Ward, Bennett and Tyson as back up - would be great to lose Tyson and get another new face but cannot see it happening. I do know what you are saying about a change in tack from Clough though - at the end of the season he wanted a new striker and then when it became clear Davies was going he again stated we needed a striker before Davies was going so now we need 2 - It now appears we are back to 1 to replace Davies - I think Keogh blew the budget as they were planning on getting Lynch on a free...pure speculation mind
Brammie Steve
I remember once shopping about for a new car and telling the salesman "I want a car that is cheap to buy, doesn't break down every five minutes and is economical to run". His answer..."Doesn't everyone?" Nigel wants a player with a good goalscoring record, low transfer fee, loyal to the team and who will accept average wages. Doesn't everyone? It's always just around the next corner Nige. Tell the board that and make them get real. (BTW why is Nathan still here?)
jg96ram
They've said they're going to send scouts to the olympics, so we might be getting someone young from them (not Neymar!) Link on here, but nothing about what positions as I remember... The tournament features 16 countries and kicks off today. There are four groups of four and Great Britain are in Group A along with Senegal, whom they play tonight at Old Trafford. United Arab Emirates and Uruguay make up the group. Brazil scored a comfortable victory over Great Britain in a warm-up match last week and they and Spain are favourites to win gold. Derby manager Nigel Clough confirmed that the Rams would be represented at some matches. "There is not much point in us watching Brazil, unfortunately," he smiled before adding: "We also know all the GB players, so there is not much point being at their matches either. "We have received tip-offs about a couple of players from other countries, so we feel there is a good reason to be at certain games, and we will have a presence there." BorneoRam
doubt it - we tried to get him already and Clough is basically saying that scouts will be going to watch players they don't already know about.
RamOfKansas
Why get a new one? Doyle will do just fine with a bit of seasoning. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Duracell
My god we've missed out again. Ball was supposed to be our new Steve Howard He still can be if he develops well at Coventry. In answer to your thread, when we sell Davies. I thought we all knew that...
Asanovic
In answer to your question - we'll sign a striker when we find one we want. I'm not sure we'll wait to sell Davies. We didn't wait to offload before we bought Jacobs, and spent more on Keogh than we made from the sale of Shackell, so it doesn't seem to be a 'one in, one out' policy at the moment. The board know they'll get a decent price for Davies, I reckon they might gamble if they can land someone before they move him on.
davenportram
Julie is not signing Steve Howard missing out again. He scored 1,5 and 5 goals in his last three seasons at championship level.

Duracell
Ok I bow to your superior knowledge. We this striker be better than our Callum ! Why take that tone! Clough has been saying this in almost every article going.
davenportram
Foxes had good strikers didn't they. Find us a striker Clough. He had over 39 and 35 appearances in 9/10 and 10/11 (mainly starts) he obviously wasn't one of their good strikers was he.
