Ambitious
1million pound and we'd struggle to find a player with the same ability, not that we'd get the million to re-invest anyway! but, Leeds don't have that sort of money to splash on any one player, so wouldn't expect it to be Leeds but could be wrong! to quote Warnock "If I get £1m I'll have to spend that on five players!" in response to the Davies bid. Ambitious
McCormack wouldn't want to come here, and there is no interest in Davies from Leeds at all!
McRamFan
Don't think Leeds will be spending a lot of money, they will be looking for freebies.
ramexpat
Davies signed a three year deal with Derby on 12 June 2008.[2] As the two clubs could not agree a fee for Davies, on the 26th August 2008 a tribunal ordered Derby to pay Tranmere up to £725,000 in compensation. This figure comprises an initial fee of £275,000, an extra £250,000 based on appearances and an additional £200,000 if Derby win promotion to the Premiership within 3 years. randombc
So if he only cost us £275k, you'd expect us to get three times that back on a sale. This is the first player in a while we've actually bought and sold for decent profit!

davenportram
If it were about appearances why would we activate the 1 year, possibly have to pay wages when we could have let him leave for free and make instant savings on wages budget?

So far he has made 80 apps for us ,, wouldnt suprise me we had to pay 250k if he reached 100 apps I very much doubt it will be one lump sum. It's far more likely to be something like £50k for every 50 appearances or something like that. There may well be a sell-on clause though - that's quite common with tribunal set fee's at the moment. Danny Graham's tribunal fee when he signed for Watford had a 15% one included.

I doubt that the Davies family would have allowed that to be said if there was not an issue. Besides- why would we sell our top scorer, disrupt the squad and probably have spend more than 250k on top of what we receive for him to "save" 250k? I know this may sound crazy but......maybe he wants to leave for personal reasons? Just throwing it out there, sometimes clubs do tell the truth you know
