Noble decided to go back?

Was it not Clough that chose not to pursue Sunderland for an extension of the loan deal as we have enough players in that position?

Keeping him would not be a good use of the clubs already stretched finances.

Reading these makes it sound like it was Nobles decision.

Not sure about that.

NC quoted as saying "They have a few injuries up front at the moment so they may want him back up there, we will have to wait and see. We would like to keep him around the place if we can as you can't have enough strikers and options to call upon."

All nice and positive. Clough cannot guarantee him a starting place so he's off. He did his job which was to be available should we suffer an injury crisis.

"I have enjoyed my time at Derby, they are a great club and the boss has been excellent with me," Noble told Sky Sports.

Noble opted for a return to Sunderland in order to gert first team football - he`s not likely to get it there so we may see him back at PP in someone elses shirt !

My point is we should not have gone for this loan unless we could offer the lad a chance and the loan period was at least till the end of the month or with a view to permanent . We need till the end of the season and beyond :-

Cover for Left Back

possibly cover for Right back

an experienced and commanding figure in midfield

and FOR CHRIST SAKE A GENIUNE STRIKER

for those of you out there who do not seem to know what a `Striker` does I will spell it out for you ;

the position reqiure someone who has enough pace and physical presence to harass and beat the opposition back line in open play and dominate their box from dead ball situations. The ability to hold and bring into play other attackers, also an abilty to turn and shoot with the ball is also useful.

I refer you to last nights efforts - we DO NOT have anyone who fits this description .

Yes, players like Messi and Owen are known for their physical presence and dominance.........the only definition of "striker" is someone who has the job of putting the ball in the net on a regular basis. The myth that a CF needs to be 6'2" and built like a brick outhouse is ridiculous!

Id heard the rumour about Owen coming to Derby, but not the one about Messi, a new one on me that.

If these players are in our price bracket, then I take your point about the physical presence not required, however as I guess they are not, then the type of player that is successfull in this league is normally a player in the mold that was being talked about

The majority of football that is played at this level is not on the ground, and it would be interesting to see the impact Messi would have had on that team last night compared to say a Steve Howard player, the latter being in our price range 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
