18th birthdays are spesh, so you need to give her something she can keep forever.

How about a pandora bracelet - with an added 18th charm. She can collect different charms then.

Dunno if this link works, I'm on a crappy lappy but there's a nice 18th charm for £35 - with a silver bracelet for about £60.

You can buy her some chocolates (thorntons) with the fiver left.

buy a nice gold necklace with a little stone in it, something like a quartz stone 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />, or get a necklace with a heart which opens up and put a picture in of you and her inside. The hotels out of the question as we go to gran canaria the next day (she's spoilt!) Pandora bracelet is out the question she told her mum she doesn't want one. I like the idea of a new door, think she'd appreciate that more than an ironing board and iron 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Cheers for the suggestions everyone! My best lad suggested I get her a bottle of vodka then when she wakes up the next day not remembering anything convince her I spent £200 on some new jewellery and she'd lost it.

I've bought my girlfriend a watch before, that seemed to go down alright, and a meal out in Italy (the meal was the birthday present, her parents had to pay for her travel expenses derrrrrr).

Does she like music? Dancing? Drama? Take her to a West End show or summat. Two tickets to something she likes but knows you don't like seems to be "sweet", so I'd go for that.

I'm dangerously, dangerously close to booking two tickets to see Dirty Dancing at the West End for christmas.

I'm sorry mate, that's the price of love.

S&B - Why not do something ultra spesh, like cook her a romantic meal.

Imagine the scene -

"Book" the house for the evening, boot everyone out

1 nicely laid out table. Borrow a couple of crystal glasses, make sure cutlery is spotless (women notice these things)

1 red rose - don't buy 18 of the buggers, cos it'll cost too much and 1 makes more of a statement. Don't throw it at her when she walks in, place it correctly at an angle across her empty starter plate. (She might fall about laffing if you stick it in your gob)

1 easy starter, 1 main, 1 pud. Go to M&S, they do a dining for 2 set for a tenner. Nice bottle of champagne. It doesn't have to be Bollinger, Tesco's do some great deals on bottles,

Make sure she knows your "cooking" yourself. It'll earn brownie points 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Maybe dim the lights, have some soul music turned low in the background. Kick the dog out if you have one. Turn off all mobiles. Chat to her about her day, etc, you have to make her feel special. Don't sit yakking about the Rams' next match.

All makes for a romantic evening and I don't know a girl who doesn't do romance!!

For a special gift, a piece of jewellry - a ring, maybe with her birthstone in it, a bracelet, or maybe earings or an ankle chain and present it to your good lady when you bring desert in. The pressie needn't cost the earth. Can't go wrong. She'll be way impressed. Enjoy!!

Then, after, when you get back from your jolley's, tell Dav how to do it, cos he aint got a foooooooookin clue!
