Stimacked
brief article on bbc confirming Clough is poised to sign a new contract and it quotes clough saying I am looking forward to working together with my staff at Derby something along those lines. Think there is still this issue to be resolved with his staff or at least there was an issue.
Pudding Jack
he's proberbly trying to get a little more in the way of transfer freedom too..... maybe he's trying to include a little more backing in his contract.....say for january!

That would not be in an employment contract. How about..... they have all been extremely busy, and as there is no issue things can drag on a little. It would not be just a case of Tom Glick and Nigel Clough talking, both the club and Nigel would have their own legal/financial people involved....... it all takes time. RotherhamRam
i won't be happy if a 3 year deal is given, I am not a fan of 3 year contracts in honesty, if you want to get rid if it goes south it will cost a fortune. The thing is if you have a rolling yearly contract your manager can be stolen, also sends a message out to the players yes he is the manager now but may not be in the future. Everytime a job comes up this debate will be brought up again where some will say that he is not quashing the rumours because its true, some sitting and waiting for decisions, some arguing like on here etc. If I was a manager who had a young family and bills to pay as everyone else I would want a 3yr deal. If Clough can achieve what he has on a shoestring and keep us up then give him the 3 yrs and actually back him. What I am surprised to see on this forum is how many have got into his ribs blaming him for all the woes of DCFC (and I know this is the miniority). But looking at all the threads and comments not many if any have actually posted comments supporting him leaving. Give him the 3 yrs and back him fully financially not just in words as has been the case for the majority of the time here. Finally people have said why does he not just come out and deny it. Why should he at no point have Derby indicated that there was a problem. If Clough wanted to leave why state yesterday that Leacock and Pearson are now in the shop window. Two players that were never going to stop with Clough. If I was wanting to leave this side of business would be on hold. Clough is just getting on with the job and I don't feel that he needs to come out into the press and deny anything if it is untrue.

Thats because if you post anything that questions the running of the club you have to get your tin hat on and hide in a corner for a few days, as you are jumped on from every angle about how everthing is rosie, why are you hitting the panic button, or if you have any questions like that email Glick and get the answer. Derby_Dave
Not lost for nearly a year so could definitely argue I am due!! Depending on which side of the fence you are though. It does seem to work the other way as all our happy clappers etc will testify. Maybe you should email TG and ask him why! froggg
Nigel Clough poised to sign new Derby County contract Nigel Clough Clough was appointed Derby boss in January 2009 Derby County boss Nigel Clough says he is on the verge of signing a new deal. Clough's contract expires at the end of the season and he has been linked with a move to managerless local rivals Nottingham Forest. But he told BBC East Midlands Today: "I am happy at Derby and am looking to forward to securing the long-term future of me and my backroom staff." Last week chief executive Tom Glick reassured fans that the club were eager to keep Clough at Pride Park. (BBC)

Now where is that tin hat 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I have no problem with people moaning but it is when they do not actually back there comments up. They just throw one liners in or leave it vague. In respect of all the threads that have been posted since Clough was here asking him for head, blamining him for apparently falling out with players, being negative, poor tactics, poor signings (although not that many) I am very surprised that these so called doom merchants who have been posting negative comments have not jumped onto the bandwagon with this one. This is probably the most appropriate thread to place the comments. Just wondering why this has not been the case. In respect of your comment being shot down and needing a tin hat has never bothered anyone in the past why now? Is it because the long term plan is starting to take shape, the development of players starting to take shape, the players he has apparently fallen out with being used again and that they have come out and said Cloughie told them what to work on and left it to them to prove they can do what he wants, the bargain buys which will either get us up or develop into very profitable players which could be used to develop the squad further. For example if we sold Brayford (I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN BUT IS AN EXAMPLE) for the alledged £3million WBA considering that could buy 3 of Clough million pound players the likes of Shackell and Barker shows what he can spend with a million pounds. Or 6 players in deals like the million pound deal for Brayford and Bailey. Just found it strange really
