Florist beware

Getafe and Espanyol were tricked into thinking Arab Sheiks wanted to invest in their clubs

A Brazilian waiter dressed up as an Arab Sheik defrauded Getafe football club in a million € agreement. Getafe cancelled the agreement last April after detecting that the cheques from the Arabs, who were going to purchase the club, had no funds.

The operation was based in Barcelona, where the Mossos d’Esquadra have broken up a network of alleged fraudsters who have specialised in football clubs with false promises of large investments from Arab Sheiks. Seven arrests have been made.

Getafe was the main victim although

contacts had also been made with Espanyol, with the club’s previous Chairman, Daviel Sánchez Llibre, even travelling to Dubai.

The fraudsters passed themselves off as intermediaries, in exchange for large commissions, convincing the clubs that the Arabs would make large investments. When the clubs realised that they had been had, the fraudsters were long gone.

There is something definitely dodgy about this bloke, owned a team previously and never spent out on it!! never brought a player either.

I hope it goes through personally, just to see how it pans out could work out well, could work out bad. Its a game at the end of the day, and the death of Notts Forest wouldn't make anyone lose any sleep. tin-pot as they come!!

Oh dear... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Forest will always be favoured by the neutral as the plucky underdog who punched further above his weight than any other side.

Derby? Nobody even knows who they are

Rose tinted spectacles there. As a Forest fan you are obviously more likely to think that neutrals favour you over us. But it's impossible to take every neutrals view into account. So we will never know. Frankly, I don't really care. I love Derby and hate Forest.

I posted up a link to another forum which quite clearly showed other supporters look forward to playing at our place, and shrugged their shoulders at the prospect of going to Pride Park.

Routinely ignored.

why would any team want another teams fans to look forward to coming to their ground? It's because they know they'll probably enjoy a win. Not that they like you.

Hahahaha too late to edit your mistake Daveo!

Don't care if clubs enjoy going to the City Ground more than PP. If anything that pleases me. I want clubs, (players and supporters) to dread coming to our place and get hammered.

Yes you won the European Cup twice and nobody will ever be able to take that away from you. In terms of trophies you are a bigger club.

In terms of our clubs infrastructure I believe Derby are a bigger club. I read Jonathan Wilson's book on Clough over Christmas and one thing that kept cropping up was Clough feeling let down by Forest's fans for poor attendances when they had such a good side.

Derby on the other hand. Well the atmosphere at the BBG was famous. Once Clough had moved to Derby he never left because Derby is a footballing town (Notts isn't), and he was a footballing man.

How many games did we go unbeaten at the City Ground ? If it wasn't for Doughty sacking King Billy 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> and hiring Mclown and Sunday league Steve we would probably have had a better ratio last year.

Ahem... Votes for Derby? Not because they are scared of forever lower middle table Derby County, but because they are bored to death at arriving at your legoland 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
