Another name linked to making a potential investment in Leeds United appears to be fading further away.

Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz al-Hasawi is believed to be slipping out of the equation as sources in the Middle East suggest he does not have the financial clout to make him a serious contender.

Mr al-Hasawi held a press conference on Tuesday where he said he was close to acquiring a “second rate English club” with “a big past history in football from over 30 years ago"

That led to widespread speculation that it was either Leeds or Notts Forest.

And although it is yet to be confirmed which club his interest is in, if either, it is understood it is not Leeds United.

Overnight there was little movement on developments in North America, but it is still believed that a Chicago-based invester - who visited Elland Road and Thorp Arch last week - remains in pole position.

Keep checking the website for updates throughout the day.

Interesting to note that their potential new owner only ever signed freebies at his previous club.... maybe not all sunshine and roses as first feared, hopefully he'll give Cotterill a 14 year contract and he'll take them to league one, then league two and then... the conference and then onto liquidation where Gadsby buys the city ground to allow all the Derby fans to come down with big hammers to tear it apart.

that's a bit far fetched.

You wouldn't need big hammers....................

Forest going down with 800 million in the bank?

Don't think you will go down, however the 800m won't be in the clubs bank. Looks like if he did by you, as obviously he cannot afford to buy Leeds, and had to go for a cheaper option, you will have unknown freebies that are there to try and make a name and then he sells them on, pocketing the profit.

Keep clutching them straws. Only don't go for Leeds because Ken Bates would only give them 30% control of the club. 100% with us and were cheaper and have a big a pull with regards to history etc..

Anyway nobody knows anything with regards to potential investment year by year. Not even confirmed he's taken over yet

History is interim reports issued periodically. Its the past and unlikely to repeat itself, so non-starter in terms of being a USP. What a buyer will look at is what is happing now and where is the potential.

Considering the size of Nottingham Urban Area you have very poor attendances, you have 3 times the population and average 22,000 and our average is almost 20% higher. You use to be a footballing City, however you are not as well supported anymore, and that could be a factor in who buys you and what their plan would be.

You are certainly cheap, low squad number = low wage bill, limited fixed assets - you do own the training ground / academy? I hope so as this is one area where you have some real potential.

But we charge for tickets? And have a League One club less than a mile away? If all you'v got going for you are attendances then that's quite sad.

Why can't you be happy for us? 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
