Shipley Ram
RIP Colin Murphy, rather thrown in at the deep end at Derby. He was appointed with the intention of keeping the managers seat warm while Clough was persuaded to return. If only. https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/lincoln-news/fans-pay-tribute-imps-legend-8757738 IslandExile, angieram, admira and 4 others 6

The next man in the hot seat after Colin shat in those shoes.

angieram
I always thought he was a bit too gentle to succeed at Derby, but I remember him fondly. richinspain
I DONT MIND
Great football man, but as Angie says, didn't have the killer instinct to succeed at top flight club. He was a great coach though, and archetypal good guy. angieram
PistoldPete
Sad to hear this. I seem to recall we were after Graeme Souness when Colin was manager. But we ended up with Derek Hales instead. Oh well. Edited September 18 by PistoldPete
IslandExile
Always sad when someone passes. He was a classic example of appointing a caretaker manager after some good results which, given the team, was almost impossible not to achieve. But he was around at the start of the slide into oblivion. He did better later in his career, at Hull and Lincoln. EDIT: to add, we called him "Blinker" because he didn't cope in front of television lights. And please everyone, it would be inappropriate to discuss glass coffee tables.
