A quick check he made 21 appearances (8) starts and scored 5 goals. As I recall small but nippy forward. Apparently Colin Addison didn’t rate him and sold him to Blackburn R ( then in old 3rd division ) for 50K. He scored 23 goals in his first season for BR and they were promoted. Apparently he then pushed for a move which was rejected so he went on strike and hardly played the following season. Moved onto Bournemouth but his career seemed to peter out. I see Phil Neal + three centre-backs. Pretty hard-tackling midfield they had there too!

FlyBritishMidland
1983. I seem to remember Malcolm MacDonald wanted the game replayed because of the missing 70-odd seconds or so. Simmo definitely scored a hat-trick against Tranmere one year, and for a few seasons we had a tradition that they were allowed to hammer us at Prenton Park as long as we could do the same back to them at PP. EDIT: I'm not sure it was Chris Powell who scored, but Darryl. I don't remember Chris scoring that season (?) Agreed , Chris only scored one league goal for us and that was against Everton in the Premier League (the second league game at PP)
