Neither, I am certain, did Alan intend to upset a 14 year old lad who just happened to hit a raw nerve. I recall being at a match where a player was hurt and 'fans' started chanting 'Bring on the Bostik!' A fairly inocuous joke. One fan went ballistic and screamed at the crowd. "Shut up! He could be badly hurt!" He wasn't and this was at a time when Bremner etc made a meal of the slightest contact. Plus ça change! I agree with you about Alan and am proud to have taken this photo. PS at least you got to talk to him and I'm sure he never meant to upset you either! Thank you for clarifying for me. It seems I was naive then and just obtuse these days. I blame the virus! RamNut
Well as far as I’m concerned he is one of the all time greats, and an absolute hero. This bloke contributed massively to the good times, and nothing will change that - least of all this twaddle.

Hinton was an incredible player to our generation so any rambling tweets he makes nearly 50 years later will never take that away. Whatever he has or hasn't said will never diminish his pinpoint crossing and shooting that we worshipped him for. Matt Busby, Bill Shankly, Brian Clough and Alex Ferguson were all left wing socialists but I'm fairly sure that right wing supporters of their clubs still remember them fondly for the great times and success they gave them. I thought Cloughie was a centre forward. Didn,t realise he played on the wing!

Alan Hinton - a great left-winger but an incorrigible right winger.
