Khabib v McGregor

I really hope that other lad destroys McGregor and manages to shut him up for a while.  He has become a national embarrassment if you ask me.  If McGregor wins he'll just become even more unbearable.  It that what sport is now, the more obnoxious and idiotic you are the more famous you become?

At last the main event. Been an amazing card so far, one of the best I've seen but it's Feckin 5.23AM!!  Heyho, I'm going all in and staying up for the Grand Prix from Suzuka after the fight. Should be an interesting fight with Khabib's Brazilian Jujitsu & wrestling skills  matched against McGregor's superior striking ability. Whether it can live up to the rest of the card we'll have to wait and see.

Well, well, well. Both fighters ushered out the cage without the result being called or any interviews, Dana White wouldn't give Khabib his belt.

Going to be some heavy suspensions and fines after this, any thoughts of a rematch ahem...

That was a little bit crazy. Overall one of the best cards ever, but soured by the ending (although it was a bloody fun watch ?)

McGregor's teammate Dillon Danis shouts stuff at Khabib after the submission, so Khabib jumps out and attacks him. Both teams are attacking each other on the outside and McGregor who's chilling in the octagon is attacked by at least two members of Khabib's team, one of them from behind. Khabib is refused the belt as it may incite a riot and both fighters are escorted out by police and security.

And to top it off, Khabib who is really heavy on sticking to the Islam laws/rules(?), has beer chucked over him as he's leaving by angry Irish fans

Yeah, there's been bad blood since McGregor and co attacked the coach Khabib and others were travelling in. McGregor then spent the entire build up demeaning Khabib and calling him a 'cowardly little rat' amongst other things so it was always going to end in tears. Poor from Khabib who was insistent he'd not come down to McGregor's level but he kind of has. Shameful end to a fantastic card. Worrying that there are going to be a lot of pumped up Irish and Russians wandering about post-fight. Not gonna end well.

An MMA journalist I follow on Twitter has said that outside the arena there are Irish fans and people wearing Khabib shirts hugging so it's peaceful at the minute, but who knows how long that will last

Khabib played it perfectly before the fight in the press conferences, destroyed McGregor in the ring and then....well.

What a way to possibly ruin your career, he's laid the red carpet out for Dana White to kick him out the UFC and stand by his golden boy McGregor.

Should be Khabib v Ferguson next, just can't see how that will happen.

Had this been the other way round the UFC would have probably used the footage to promote McGregor's next fight as they did with the coach incident, Khabib isn't a poster boy though, not a box office name on the same level as McGregor.

Get ready for McGregor v Ferguson next.

Which is a shame because I really think Ferguson is one of the few, maybe the only fighter I can see beating Khabib

Post fight press conference for anyone interested -

Keeping fingers crossed. Looked like a powder keg scenario so relieved to hear all is calm at the moment.

Pretty much spot on. I'm not sure if anything else has happened to stir the pot but there were some pretty unpleasant verbal exchanges during the fight and it was pretty clear Khabib was looking to hurt McGregor as badly as he could. That neck lock to finish it made me wince. For someone who is typically super calm, he completely lost it tonight. A suspension beckons for sure.
