The midfield is totally lost and we're allowing Modric all the time in the world to dictate play. Lingaard and Alli may aswell not be playing. Not in the game at all, both offensively and defensively. We'll rue the missed chances. Croatia have all the momentum. Denmark looked better against Croatia than we did 2nd half. Alph Posted July 11, 2018 Share Posted July 11, 2018 We spent too much time trying to play on the counter. Sit off them, leave 2 up and surrender midfield Gary Rowett style. Very risky as Croatia attacks were creating and England seemed happy with that on the hope that they'd get the counter. But it stopped looking like a tactic and more like Croatia making us work and stretching us. Really needed someone to drop in the middle to defend so Alli and Lingard can stop trying to cover 3 central players and 2 full backs. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
