Our CURRENT best starting XI?

Recommended Posts

Its a slow Friday at work... So started to think about what our best starting XI is (and its formation) given our currently contracted players - no additions, no sales.

I'm going with the graphically-challenging-but-soon-to-be fashionable 3-1-4-1-1 formation....

GK: Carson

Back Three (right to left): Wisdom - Huddlestone - Davies

Holding Midfielder: Ledley

Midfielders: (right to left):  Lawrence - Thorne - Johnson - Weimann

Attacking Midfielder: Vydra

Striker: Jerome

I told you it was a quiet morning!

GK: Carson
RCB: Wisdom
CB: Keogh
LCB: Davies
RWB: Bogle
LWB: Forsyth
CM: Huddlestone
LCAM: Lawrence
RCAM: Elsnik
CAM: Vydra
S: Martin/Jerome

I know two of those are entirely unproven but I'm comfortable standing by my opinion of them.

Bogle is not ready yet is he and Elsnik is going to have a good pre season to displace Bradley.

I disagree on the former, I think he's the best RWB at the club. The latter is obvious and a non-statement. 'Tis just my opinion, no point in having a thread if we're just going to write the players who started the play-off games.

Is Bogle better than Anya and Wiemann then and is Elsnik better than Butterfield or Johnson.

Slightly different formation to mine but I’d happily go with yours depending on home/away and opposition ?

Aye - because he's competing with Lawrence. In a formation where they're both comfortable, or if we sell Vydra (meaning Lawrence would move centrally); then Thomas would probably get in my team.

In MY opinion yes if we are to see the fruits of the academy. Anya has provided absolutely nothing and I do like Weimann but he needs a different brain as his decision making for the final ball is horrendous 9 times out of 10.

imo

Rowett mentioned Bogle loads of times.

Though if he worked hard he would do well.

Lets see pre season how it all goes.

Im told it’s clean slate policy with Frank  on here is that right

Blank canvas again for me so I’d pick out best eleven footballers and build from there

Carson

Wisdom Keogh Huddlestone Lowe

George

Elsnik Bryson

Anya Martin Lawrence

Needs work but that’s what I’d build from

No that’s fine but just remember it’s a massive step from Academy to Championship as it is from Div 1 and Div2 and non league to Championship.

ie Different level and loads tougher.

That's what all managers say - and that is indeed what Frank said. You never know how true it is. Unlikely anyone comes in without any preconceptions about some players.
