Carl Sagan
Ha! I've also been looking up past seasons and points totals over the last hour or so and just posted that. This is interesting, especially to see we're behind both Billy's total at this point and Mac1. And in both of those seasons we finished third. We are at least in the box seat this time and if anyone is to catch us, they need to outperform us in the run-in and that won't be easy.

Recovered a bit in 2006/07 but not at all in 2014/15. I would expect us to top the 2006/07 points total , which I think was 84 points was it? lazerock
I mentioned in a post on Jan 3rd that we were, broadly speaking, only where we have been for the past few seasons:-(http://www.derbycountyblog.com/deja-vu-as-derby-county-celebrate-another-happy-new-year/) The question then was (and remains), will we sustain it this season, or fall away, as we did in previous years? RamNut
2017-18 rowett pld 30: 57 pts 2nd: for 47 against 23 2016-7 mac2 pld 30: 47 pts 8th. For 33 against 25 2015-16 clement pld 30: 51 pts 5th. For 40 against 26 2014-15 mac1 pld 30: 58 pts 3rd. For 58 against 28 2013-14 mac1 pld 30: 55 pts 4th. For 58 against 40 2006-07 billy pld 30: 59 pts 1st: for 39 against 28 some interesting stats. this season is our best defensive record, but only 2 goals better than last year with christie, shackell and pearce etc the mac1 era is notable for how many goals we scored. Presumably thats why people remember the hughes, bryson, martin brigade with great affection. its also evident how the attack was affected by loaning out Martin last season. Phoenix
Also interesting that in previous years (bar Billy's), 57 points would have given us no better than third, but in Billy's year, we'd still have bee 4 points clear. Does this not suggest it must have been a weaker year in Billy's tenure?

Harrowram
Our run in isn't too bad. Apart from away games at Wolves, Villa, and Preston there isn't much to frighten us.

Doodle
I think this seasons 2 nd placed team will have 92-94 points. 11 wins and a few draws and that will be us, especially if we don’t lose to Cardiff or Villa. I think it’s going to be a near record points tally for the team finishing 3 rd. I think the 3 rd placed team will get 90+ points

I really don't want us going into that match either having to play catch up or only being 1 point ahead of them, but we never do things the easy way and this is the championship, lots of twists and turns yet
RamNut
Before Ledley pld 8: 11pts for 12 against 12 after Ledley pld 22: 46pts for 35 against 11 pro-rata for last 16 with Ledley +33 pts for +25 against +8 Projection for this season pld 46 : 90pts for 72 against 31 - with this result where could we finish? 2016-17 3rd 2015-16 2nd 2014-15 2nd 2013-14 3rd 2006-07 1st that 2006-07 season was remarkable for the low number of points required to get promotion. Billy's success was still a great achievement but the context was an equally significant factor.
Tombo
Ideally, looks like we need 10 wins from the final 16, or even more ideally 11 or 12 to be certain of autos. Which is pure madness to think about. There's so little margin for error involved in automatic promotion. Crazy.

Which is the one with a catastrophic falling away that saw us miss out on the playoffs, even though we still ended it with 77 points. All the more reason not to count any chickens just yet! Yes and the falling away didn't start til February. I don't think it will happen this year tho.
