Rample Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 Only reason to wait until after 1 July apart from the fact he's on his jollies is if there is a favourable clause in the contract that alters when it starts a new year. Reduced release fee, loyalty bonus for Wisdom etc. Even players out of contract can talk to domestic clubs and sign pre contracts about a month before theirs expires. I heard from an ex Albion player a few years ago if they don't get fixed up straight away there is something where they also get paid for a number of weeks afterwards so some just sit out a while to get that payment.
