What if he continues with the 4-3-3, or maybe a 4-2-3-1?

I'll prepare a Pearson out thread, just incase he dares to stray away from the cliche he is being presented as!

I don't think it's out of the question at all. If you actually look at it, it's served us well now for 3 years and we have just come up short, which isn't necessarily because of the system employed, moreso the players, injuries and management issues. If he can adapt it to suit, be flexible and improve our tempo and aggressiveness then we'll all be happy. (shameless plug, but this was said on the podcast)

Yeah, he played a variation of formations in his final season at Leicester, including 4-5-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 5-4-1 and so on. We don't know what we're getting.

Wow that's not exactly such Amiga amount of formations as people thought.

So you're saying that we should have a Spectrum of different formations?

Amiga to see how Pearson sets the team up.

ICL to pay if it goes wrong though.

Maybe I should start a topic on if Nigel Pearson only knows one, prehistoric, flat, formation in 4-4-2, last employed in 1995 like our fans seem to think.

If it's not flat then it's not 442?

If Nigel Pearson can't work out how to use our best player then he shouldn't be in the job. I don't believe for a second that he's daft enough to sell unless Hughes he requests the transfer.

So basically every manager we have had then since Hughes emerged? Because Hughes has played less than a handful of games in his optimum position.

Hang about - you think that every single manager who has picked Hughes is using him incorrectly? It seems stupid, if that is the case, that Morris didn't make you manager in February, then pushed the boat out to bring in Nigel Pearson when that didn't work.

;)

On the other hand, Hughes just might be played where he is in the role that he is given for the benefit of the team, not just the individual.

You know when they run analyses on the telly, and they join players together with a line, it's not actually like that in real life.

Can someone brilliant zap up a list of the last 10-20 players signed by Pearson, what they cost and whether they did anything? Should give us some insights.

Doesn't tell you a lot, unless you know whether he was the one who identified them, asked for them or anything like that. Different teams operate with different transfer models.

He must have vetted and agreed to them, though.

Go on then, what's his optimum position?

Not necessarily. He might well have had absolutely everything to do with them, but it's all a bit subjective.

Pearson built the side that finished on 102 points and scored 90 goals during the 2013-14 season, the same team that d*cked us 4-1, played some pretty tidy football as well.. also the core of that side have just won the prem... I'd say NP knows what he's doing tbh, might take a bit of time but he'll get us there.

Would you tell Nigel Pearson that you had just signed a player for him that he did not want?

What is a 'balloon head'?

If I paid him to coach the players, then yeah.

I think that Mel will not get Nigel any players that Nigel does not really want. For the first year -

Mel - Do you need any players, Nigel?

Nigel - Hang on until I have checked out all our players, Mel

Later- Mel - do you need any players, Nigel?

Nigel - I would like three out of these five players, Mel

Mel - I will do whatever i can to get you them, Nigel.

Mel to Sam - make it so, Sam.

CornwallRam... what a guy. Brilliant work

Pearson is not a big spender and with the help of Walsh he has made some great signings. The future in the transfer market has taken an upturn
