1) Pace - He isn't slow for a defender and none of our other centre backs have any, maybe aside from Shotton (ish).

2) Desire - Keogh has a lot of desire and passion to succeed. However his leadership was relatively poor because of that. That's where shacks comes in. That weight can be lifted off Keogh's shoulders and hopefully he'll begin performing again.

3) He is an experienced player with over 300 league appearances and knows the league well.

4) He can bring the ball out of defence and run with it to relieve pressure off the defence.

Keogh was our best defender last year, despite our completely disastrous season. His problem was that he wasn't in a settled back 4, like in the previous season he was. That along with out right back problems caused a very leaky defence. All in all I do not believe we should be selling players like Keogh, especially to a championship rival.

completely totally utterly disagree with the majority of this. Desire? I have desire too... doesnt mean i should be playing professionally. Can bring ball out? U see how many times he drops his shoulder and goes on one like a madman and loses the ball? Keogh.... dont care if he stays or goes.... but if can get a decent fee for him and strengthen elsewhere im all for that

Any one looking at my past posts will know I am not his biggest fan and could easily pick holes in everything said in support of him, apart from the fact his wife is a babe.

I am sure my arguments also could be picked apart however what I will agree with if a decent bid comes in then he goes has it would with any player.

Think Clement wants his own defensive partnership so it will be Shacks and Pearce also think Bucko will be allowed to leave once fit has both Shotton and Baird provide cover.

I'd just like to say I hope Keogh stays as he and Shackell are different kind of players who would play well together bringing their strengths to help each others game.

However if he does get transferred to another club then I personally will sad to him leave and would wish him well for his efforts.

Lest we forget he's given his absolute all for three years and been our player of the year.

Some of his detractors are rather harsh about him and to hound his family on various other sites is very low to say the least.

Who, Sheffield Utd?

EDIT: That would actually explain why Beardsley was watching us in Holland.

Beagle, some of your ideas are completely Galapagos, but I like you. :)

or those idiots who can use only swear words like "feck" (and not even the real word) because they haven't the intelligence they were born with to express themselves properly?

Challenge accepted.

The word 'feck' is a common Irish expression which is NOT considered to be anything other than a mild expression of annoyance, and although it is accepted by some that it was derived from an original Anglo-Saxon expletive, many consider that its roots were quite possibly Scottish, and it may well originate from the same source that gives us 'feckless'. As a part-Irish, part-Scottish, part-Dutch inhabitant of this board, I feel justified in resorting to its use on occasion - consider it as part of my heritage.

With respect to your statement suggesting that 'feck' is '...not even the real word' - it most definitely IS included in the Oxford English Dictionary, and has been for many years. It is what is known as a 'minced oath' - rather like saying 'sugar' instead of 'bugger'. So you see, Strange yearnings, in your rush to be clever, you have really just shot yourself in the foot.

I hope it fecking hurts. ;)

Remember in the 13/14 season when Keogh was out injured and we played Keane in his preferred position at RCB. We had no leadership, started defending really deep and invited pressure. The highlight was getting dismantled by Leicester. Keogh came back, instant improvement. Sometimes you don't know what you've got til it's gone.

Just goes to show how people see the game differently!

I would not say he is fast for defender but not slow either.

He certainly has desire but sometimes too much in my opinion. I think he is over eager at times and this leads to some of his poor decision making.

Certainly cannot argue that he is experienced and the fact that he has played so many games at this level often leads to me questioning my own opinion of him.

Him bringing the ball out of defence gives me nightmares! Yes once in every 10 occasions it will lead to him bringing the ball 70 yards out but all too often it leads to situations that are more dangerous to our defence than the oppositions!

I have it on reasonably good authority that the new management do not see Keogh as the future of DCFC and if true that he was offered as a makeweight in the Shackell deal then this would seem to be true.

Keogh's errors are largely when he gets the ball stuck between his feet and can't adjust. He actually passes the ball more efficiently when he is running with it. It's Forsyth who has lapses and passes the ball to the opposition or kicks it into Row F when he tries to cross it. Keogh's passing isn't bad.
