I know steve mac wants to get hendrick, bryson and hughes into the same team so this formation could work. Butland Christie Keogh buxton forsyth Mascarell Bryson hendrick Hughes Russell martin Our fullbacks would provide the width. This formation would get the best out of russell and hughes as well. The midfield could interchange.

The only problem I can see with this diamond is if we play it at home we could get hit on the counter easily, especially if we need our full backs to provide the width. What about a 4-2-3-1, similar to what we play now but with a more attacking CM instead of the defensive one we play now. Hughes could be amazing just behind the striker and with 1/2 CM's providing cover the full backs can still get forward. October 27, 201410 yr Diamonds are generally designed to pack/dominate the midfield, which we do already. Only time we will change formation is when we're drawing/losing at home and then we'll go to a 4-2-4 with both Martin and Best up front.

October 27, 201410 yr No, 4-4-2 doesn't work, the 4-1-2-3/2-1 works 99% of time, just Wigan are a horrible bogey team and at least 9 out if 11 players had a below par performance, just a bad day at the office, now if we go and lose the next 3 then yes, Mac should tinker

October 27, 201410 yr No. When you are sat top of the league after about a quarter of the season playing one formation it would be ridiculous to change the system after one loss.

We need to adapt for our home games. We are only at the top of the league thanks to our away results. Our home form hasnt been good enough this season
October 27, 201410 yr I reckon the players should pass the ball to one another until we get reasonable close to the opponents goal , then we should put the ball in their net by any fair and legal means possible .
