North_Stand_Ram
Motherwell wait for Derby's O'Brien 12 August 2014 Updated 16:33 Mark O'Brien has made 35 appearances for Derby County Motherwell manager Stuart McCall aims to ease his defensive worries by signing Derby's Mark O'Brien on loan. The 21-year-old from Dublin is expected to arrive at Fir Park this week after recovering from an ankle injury. Steven Hammell, Simon Ramsden and Adam Cummins are currently sidelined from McCall's squad. Craig Reid, Zaine Francis-Angol and Fraser Kerr played in Saturday's 1-0 win over St Mirren despite not having trained for two weeks. "I think Mark would probably have been with us if he hadn't gone over on his ankle in pre-season," explained McCall. "He has just been coming back to fitness now, so he's one we are waiting for. "He started full training now so hopefully at the back end of the week, he will be a player we would like to get in on loan." McCall is also working on a deal for a new striker with a loan arrangement also likely. "If what we're working on comes off I'll be delighted," he said. "We've got to give it a chance. If it doesn't, we will have to look elsewhere. Rather than taking somebody else, I'd rather give it a chance."
Uptherams
Is he being shipped in bubble wrap?
Albert
Scotland tends to have decent attacks, but poor defenses, so he's on the right side of the field experience wise there.League One would probably have been a better bet experience wise, as it's a more consistent, if not better standard, but it'll be good to see how he gets on. Hopefully his injuries are behind him, because he's a talented young lad.
IlsonDerby
surely there's a recall option?
Srg
I'd expect someone else in here
Ramchope
I'd expect someone else in here It would seem that way, wouldn't be comfortable having just Bucko, Keogh and Whitbread at centre-half what with Bucko's latest niggle and Whitbread's general injury proneness. Hopefully this does mean we will bring in a versatile centre-half who can play at full back as well.
CumbrianRam
Unless O'Brien has learnt how to pass a football, then he doesn't fit into our style. Seems like a nice lad, good luck in the future.
AmericanRam
Not surprising. He does not really fit into our current style of play anyway.I wish him luck in helping Motherwell this season.
davenportram
Maybe with a big of fitness he csn develop into a CB that does fit our system. Hands up how mang thought Bucko would before last season?
DCFC1388
Pretty sure this was a Nixon story before we went to Austria but O'Brien did his ankle in
Harrowram
Does this make room for Robert Huth as we now only have one substitute centre half?
VulcanRam
Good move for OB, gets him some games and hopefully he can stay injury free. He wouldn't play here even if he was fit. At his age and with his injury record, he really needs some prolonged time on the pitch. Good luck to him.
RLACML
Nicholson said he expected a versatile RB/CB addition, but that is Nicholson.
RamNut
Good player but its ages since we've seen him. I'd like to see him get another chance here.

Srg
Good player but its ages since we've seen him. I'd like to see him get another chance here. Not a chance he's going to get one here right now for several reasons. He's 4th choice. He's not proven he can stay fit. He's never had a run of games at any senior level.
