The demise of Forest

Serious statement of intent from Fridgy - fair play to the guy. Let's hope for his sake that Davros is up to it - and for our sake that he isn't.

I want a front row seat for Billy's excuses if he fooks up.

You'll make the Play Offs though. Easily I think.

Burnley are the only side that look like they won't pick up many wins. Look at their record since their great run ended. Not too good. But they'd done enough by Xmas.

I think we might finish 3rd and 4th

Fawaz must be expecting a good tilt at automatic promotion now as our squad before the additions was still easily good enough for a top 6 finish.

Davies' signings in the January of 2007 was what caused a massive downfall for you though. Did those signings just not work out?

What it did was destabilise the pre-existing dressing room harmony. A huge disparity in wages, the new guys in on massive promotion bonuses, that sort of thing.

Jack Hobbs is a Red. He has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal. Welcome back. #nffc

Dunno much about Hobbs. Did he go from Forest to Hull and as he's not good enough for a poor Prem team, Forest snatched him back on 4 half year deal. Reminds me of those long contracts William dished out at Derby.

Those transfers really crippled us. Good money on ***** players that no one ever wanted. Like signing a death warrant.

That is quite funny your incumbent manager did the same to us by signing the likes of Miller (a staggering 18k a week!), Greening and Derbyshire. Players like Morgan were on peanuts and were refused new contracts and ended up leaving.

I'm sure McClaren has learnt from it though and would not make the same mistakes.

Nothing wrong with Hobbs though.

Well, except that for the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would be so devoted to a club as volatile as Forest under Davies have been recently that they wouldn't consider the remotest possibility of joining anyone else.

Then again, that's Billy's stock and trade - get players utterly almost religiously comitted to what he's doing, then sod off and watch them collapse as soon as he's not in charge.

4 and a half years at about £20,000 a week?

Bloody hell, he's had to change the 'template tweet - yay we've signed (insert name here)....'

Watching them last night, Davros did his 'woohooo, how chuffed am I - hold on - Nah, ok, I was expecting that, stay coolio Davros'

my daughter said 'Is Billy Davies married?'

'yes why'

'just wondered, can't imagine anyone marrying him'

I know - childish hahaha

Its quite interesting to maybe look back on those signings, at the time they appeared like very good signings who should have improved us. Maybe signings that would have coped in a rotated squad in the prem.

Pearson-When he first came he was a prospect and at one time was looked on very highly in the Celtic set up.

Dave Jones-United prospect, again regarded highly

Mceveley-Had played for Blackburn first team by this time, another prospect

Mears-looked very accomplished

Teale-A player who had been involved in Wigan's promotion

Macken....meh

My point is that there looked a very decent crop of players, who in theory derby could build around for a promotion push/prem squad.  We obviously know the reality of what happened, but it does make you wonder if any these forest signings would be able to cut it in the prem. I suppose they have the money to completely rebuild a team if they get there

Can we just stop with the myths!!

Billy and Steve identify targets, the board or investors work on the financial side. Only in specialised cases does this differ, so it's not worth discussing.

Forest would have to pull out something ridiculous to actually get an automatic place - so much so, I don't even think it's worth entertaining yet.

Queens Park Rangers are far stronger than us and Forest - I'd be shocked if it wasn't them.

I believe Fawaz feels fan pressure a lot more than he should, as a reporter tweeted 6 hours or so before it was announced 'fee agreed, terms agreed, A LOT more than they wanted to pay'

Good player Hobbs, but not a Premier League player and it sounds like he could be earning Premier League wages..
