The Text Ellis Campaign

As a Leicester City supporter, I hope you all don't mind me joining your forum, but there is good reason! "http://oneboro.com/forum/images/smilies/smile" title="Smile" alt="smile">

My son suffers from a rare chromosome disorder called MECP2 Duplication Syndrome, which affects many aspects of his development. Recently a breakthrough has been made in research and a cure is now a possibility!

Due to how rare his condition is, there is no funding available from the government, so we are having to raise the money ourselves. As his Daddy, I'm not prepared to sit and do nothing to fight for my little boys future!

This season, along with 2 of Ellis' uncles, I will be cycling to every Leicester City away fixture, promoting a text code and number. Anyone will be able to donate to our cause by simply texting MECP77 followed by £1, £2, £3, £5 or £10 to 70070.

We recently completed the 184 mile journey to Middlesbrough for the first game of the season and now face a much shorter trip to Pride Park on Saturday. I am hoping that some of you may have ideas of how we can promote the Text "Ellis" campaign at the match?

I also hope that some of you may be able to help by donating to the cause, even if it is just £1...EVERYTHING HELPS!

More information on the challenge and my sons condition can be found at http://www.textellis.com or you can visit my JustGiving page http://www.justgiving.com/textellis

We may support different teams, but sometimes things are that little bit more important in life and I hope we can join together and make the Derby leg of my journey a real success!

Richard

An idea - which is too late for us but worth doing for future games. Every club runs a feature on the away team. Email each club and ask if they will include a piece about your campaign in that section.

You could email derby I'd say go to Sam Rush direct - I'm sure someone on here has his email address (anyone that has please PM it to me) they may invite you onto the pitch and say something about - perhaps even finish your bike ride by onto the pitch.

Ask DCFC if you can give flyers out - get some printed (4 to a sheet of A4) and give to programme sellers around Pride Park tomorrow.

Just a few ideas.

this is the stuff the club love to do and will go out their way to promote - best of luck!

Looking at @textellis on twitter the club have said No

Richard - check your twitter feed DM @dcfc_flagman (he should be on your feed somewhere) our fan of the year might be able to help.

I would assume that all clubs get many requests to help promote good causes, maybe a couple of days before the match is a bit too short notice to agree to stuff. There may be Derby fans requesting things as well.

Just thinking aloud really.....

Richard, what's the deal with Leicester City mate? Have they committed to help you?

Good luck for your quest and for the future fella.
