Udinese fan Arrigo Brovedani was the club's sole supporter in Genoa for a Serie A match against local team Sampdoria. The 30-something wine merchant found himself alone in the visitors' section. But Sampdoria stewards gave him coffee and home fans invited him for a drink after the match. “I always take my flag and scarf around - they're always in the car with me” - Arrigo Brovedani Mr Brovedani told the BBC he had not expected to find many fellow supporters from Udinese, one of the smaller clubs in Serie A. It was a cold Monday night and Udinese never attracts more than 50 or 60 away fans. Early boos "But I went there thinking I'd find five or six other people," the Udinese fan said. "I went into the stadium while they [udinese] were warming up. I shouted and said 'hi' to the team. "When I went in the local fans booed me, I felt a bit offended. "But in the end they clapped and invited me for coffee and a meal, and the club managers gave me a shirt. They wished me a merry Christmas." Genoa is about four hours' drive from Friuli, where Udinese are based. But Mr Brovedani was in Genoa on business. "I like the stadium there, it's very similar to English stadiums," he said. "I always take my flag and scarf around - they're always in the car with me." Luckily for Mr Brovedani, Udinese won the match 2-0 and the team dedicated their victory to their only fan. He has been invited to attend its next home match on Saturday.

davenportram
That could be Nick when we get drawn against Aberdeen on a cold Tuesday in December for a 5pm kick off in the Anglo Scottish cup when it is introduced following Scotland's independence and the collapse of the SPL

EastKentRam
He's just fulfilled my dream, im jelous. That's why a part of me wishes when i was a kid i'd chose to support Maccelsfield, or Rochdale. Being one of about 10-20 fans away at some **** hole like Scarborough mid week on an open terrace as it p*sses it down whilst watching your side get absolutely battered facing a 6 hour journey home with work in the morning, is probably the best feeling in the world. uttoxram75
Udinese won 2-0. Wonder if he celebrated? You'd have to! I would have run up and down all the stairs in the away end for both goals.

Alex W
I love this story, plus the fact the home fans invited him over for a few drinks and a meal at the end of it. Great stuff.

You should have seen us in 1985 at places like Newport and Swansea. One evening away game at Newport there might have been about 30-40 Derby fans there - I think Trevor Christie scored but the memory's not what it was. Thinking back those more likely to be Kilted up to the nines might of been Mr Billy Davies and Stephen Pearson. Maybe you met those instead! Anyway Billy looks to be doing well at the moment! Inverurie Ram
Aberdeenshire Rams would turn out in force. We could only dream of that tie happening. I'm just dreaming of a white christmas and 3 points against the Ully Gullies. But if that tie ever did happen, I just might pop into Pittodrie for a look.
