  1. First half was typical Warne ball, looked out of ideas and one paced. But we went in to half time 1-0 courtesy of Max Bird whose turned in to prime Zidane since his move. Second half two clinical finishes and then smart subs (albeit 5 mins too late) saw us see out the game with ease. Win on Saturday and I’ll wager that either Pompey or Bolton will drop points.
  2. I'd be surprised if we do. Wash and Waggy are allegedly back soon so makes no sense to add unless we think Gayle or Joao will drastically improve us. Personally i'd happily bring another in but thats because i don't rate Wash or Waggy.
  3. @MadAmster I think Rowett has shown that counter attack football is his way. I don’t blame him for signing Huddleston, Davies etc. Mel had a reputation for sacking quickly so why would GR plan for the future? Anyway we digress, I think ultimately some fans will never warm to Warne even if he got us to the prem. He’s shown during his career to be a good Lg1 manager, but whether he’s a good fit for Derby is up for debate (which has been done over and over again).
  4. I think if we do go up Warne must be praised as its mission accomplished. However Warneball is up there with the worst football I've seen at Derby. Although i will acknowledge that maybe myself and others are so down on PW as we probably expect to go up. Maybe if he had us 17th in the Championship next season playing Warneball me and others wouldn't be quite as critical. Although maybe that last sentence is rubbish because half the forum couldn't stand Rowett (I could) and he had us top 6. I do think sadly promotion or no promotion Warne's time here will never be looked upon too fondly. He seemed to have fans against him from the start and now i'd say at least 1/3 of the fan base either despise his football or want hm gone. Sad for everyone really.
  5. After 30 odd games it’s in no coincidence or luck we’re in the running for promotion. You don’t get there by fluking wins. But we do seem to win in spite of ourselves as opposed to blowing teams away or crushing them with our sheer class. Think ultimately our season will hinge on the results against the teams in the top 8. Win more than we lose = good chance of autos. Win a couple, lose a couple = play offs, lose them all = 7th place again? Think we’ll churn out the same level of performance, think results depend on whether the opposition can match us in the dirty part of the game or not.
  6. Fair assessment but not sure about good performances to come. We’ve not had more than 5 all season.
  7. Thought we’d draw today and thought posh would lose. Bolton dropping points is a bonus, but Barnsley joining the autos race is a little annoying. Didn’t watch the match so can only go off comments from you guys and twitter. But it is concerning that home games are no longer the banker they were in previous seasons. Seems even when we win at home it’s bloody hard work. If we do go up whilst we’ll all be cockahoot. I wouldn’t describe this season as enjoyable.
  8. Can't decide between 1-1 or 2-1 Derby. Will be tight either way and i have a sneaking suspicion Wycombe might do a job on Posh.
  9. I imagine all forums are the same. I'd actually say the reason why ours can be so infuriating at times is because of the bigger fan base. Passionate fans who want to see Derby back fighting at the top. Also the fact that this forum is run to a very high standard and doesn't look like its ran on a potato.
  10. Not sure what the blue card is trying to achieve other than cure the lack of respect in the game which would be nice but not at the cost of the fans enjoyment.
  11. Back on the grass tomorrow apparently so depends how much Warne wants to risk him for Saturday.
  12. Everyone making the lame joke about Rotherham when there’s anal right there to be used.
  13. Im not saying he’s free from criticism but I do think he’s been unfairly critiqued at times this season. Last year he underperformed and I had no hope that he would come good. However, this season he’s pulling his weight at the very least. I guess it’s a forum and everyone’s entitled to post on who and what they like. But I was just surprised to see his ability under the microscope when we’ve got players who have contributed far less and seem to go under the radar.
  14. Fair enough I take your point, but ultimately if he doesn’t score another goal this season, is that his fault? Or the clubs for relying on him solely? I think discussions around his season and his future and maybe a review of his time here will be a lot more fruitful. I was just surprised to see this topic growing in posts when it’s irrelevant whether people like him or not now.
  15. Sheffield Star reckons Joao is a freebie, so he would be my top pick on an initial 6 month deal. Do I think Warne will pursue the free agent option? No
  16. Doesn’t matter now if he drops a stinker for the rest of the season and we drop out the play offs. Providing he gives 100% we have no right to moan at him. Not Collo’s fault our hopes and dreams hang pretty much on his shoulders alone. Got to get behind him and then come the end of the season, win, lose or draw we can discuss his performance this season and whether or not he deserves a new contract. FWIW I think Collo is an average to good league 1 striker. Do I think we could’ve attracted better or had better alternatives? Yes. But that’s history now. Let’s back him and hope CBT and Adams can improve us enough to get us over the line.
  17. Is that Portsmouth and Bolton have done this year? Impressive if they have with the signings they've made.
  18. All clubs lose money, good luck running a club that’s self sufficient.
  19. The deal works for all parties. The issue is when was the transfer completed? I believe it was in the evening and then we asked for the announcement to be held off on the proviso we brought in a striker to soften the blow. If i'm wrong and the monies didn't transfer until past 11 then out of spite i'd have cancelled the deal and let them face a battle for his signature. However i have no evidence but i reckon i'm not far off with my theory.
  20. ] Okay the Bird money going in to the summer pot. But the league next season will be stronger. All 3 relegated teams will be up there, 5 of the current top 8 will be up there, Wrexham with their wonga and then the likes of Wigan and Reading if they get their acts together. IMO any funds would've been better spent yesterday at least partly to see if we can go up and avoid the royal rumble of next season.
  21. Song for Collins and our striker availbility. There’s only one. James Collins. One. James Collins.
  22. Better than nowt. Which is a sentence that says it all.
  23. Because we’re in a 4 horse race this season and next season it’ll be a 10 horse race. Theres being positive and then theres being blind. So if Collins gets injured you think the predicament we’re in is acceptable?
