Hmmm!  Not sure why they'd be niggled by bumping into the Derby County mascot in the County of Derbyshire!
That's like driving around Edwinstowe, and being surprised to be surrounded by sprigs of broccoli! ?

    Anyway... RIP Dean.

    The original, The best.

I work in Alfreton, different breed, not really like good old Derbyshire folk a lot of six fingered and twitching types

Its easy to judge. None of us have a clue whats going on.

True, but too many footballers think they have made it with an appearance for first team, or not even that.

Why are we getting so many young people with mental  health problems?  I think some of it is they are not taught life has downs it is not all ups, and if involved wth Derby County get ready for a lifetime of downs with a sprinkle of ups, a small sprinkle

  3. Bobby Duncan's demise - what has happened to Steven Gerrard's cousin soon to be at fifth club - Mirror Online

Sounds a prat to me looking at article above. Another thinking he has made it and not needing to work hard at career.

Cannot imagine the likes of Curtis Davies or James Milner behaved this way as kids. An ego thing rather than 'mental health'

Forest fans have really come out the woodwork this season.... I never ever see any forest shirts around Nottingham until last few weeks. Think it will be a close final, two decent teams.

Yeah knuckle draggers everywhere with gleaming new shirts. Dreading the next week with 50,000  'been a fan all my life' clamouring for tickets     COME ON UDDER

Whoa!!! Wait a minute everyone. I cannot believe what I am reading?

Everyone seems to have gone off-topic. That does not happen on this forum, does it?

The topic was all about what might've been had Wayne Rooney been able to keep the current Derby County team together for a promotion push next season.

It was not about what might've happened if Juventus hadn't bought the referee off or if Tommy Docherty had never stepped foot in Derby or if Steve Mac had never left for ManU or if I had been introduced to Debbie Harry.

Thank you. As you were. I'm just off to play some Blondie records.

If only Blondie could have stayed like she was when first on Top Of The Pops

It was incredibly depressing hearing Chelsea fans chant Abramovich's name the other day. Integrity and morals are non-existent in football today. As long as your team is winning and your owner has a lot of money he's a hero and nothing else matters. Where the money comes from doesn't matter.

The morally correct thing would be for all Chelsea fans to refuse to support their team in any way until they have a new owner (they won't). All broadcasters, Sky, BBC etc. should refuse to show any Chelsea games (they haven't), and Sky continue to make money off showing their games, and no one is criticising them for doing this. All Chelsea players should refuse to play or get their dirty money wages (obviously they won't).

Yet Sky, Chelsea fans/players continue with the empty gestures, like holding up a Ukrainian flag before games, then everyone feels better about themselves and just continue on.

Yeah i know they say sport and politics do not mix, sometimes they have to.  Some fans are just too thick, probably don't know it is happening, don't know where Ukraine is. Like you say, depressing at times to see fans who's only thoughts all week are football pub football pub football pub Mcd's Mcd's Mcd's

The documentary featured one of Wayne Rooney's first appearances for England - a Euro qualifier against Turkey in 2003 played at Sunderland - he was 17 !!

And let me tell you, that game was very naughty, on & off the pitch

I also remember being in a packed Sunderland pub before the game and all the songs were 10 German bombers & No Surrender etc except one non England related song - " We Hate Derby & We Hate Derby" - sang by most of the pub. It made me chuckle & slightly proud ?

why would they sing that in the pub????  Been to watch England many times, home and abroad, NEVER heard  that song

I was.  Great fun wasn't it.  Coach drivers turning all the lights off and doing 40 in pedestrian areas to avoid old ladies throwing stones.  A lot of older boys were out of retirement that evening or it could have been much worse.  We actually held our own quite well that evening.

Lol some of the 'women' were as bad as the fellas.  Group of us in car that night, kept in for an age, not sorry to be honest, like a war zone where we were parked, they fought with police for ages. . . . . . . . . we didnt stop for a jar ANYWHERE. Defo most intimidating place to go when they have a big game

I'm afraid that as soon as they start singing 'that' song, all hellfire is going to break loose and it won't be only the usual cap wearing 18 year old who film themselves and post comments about limbs and pyros.  There may be a few 'older' campaigners who are just as disgruntled making this kind of trip. The easiest answer is to postpone the game.  If they don't, I expect to see scenes reminiscent of Millwall away in 94.

If you think scenes will be like outside that night. . . . . . . . you were not there!!  Boro and Derby today,  pussycats compared to Millwalls knuckledraggers that night

I was there too. It was a disappointing day which for me started before the kick off when for the first and last time I had to suffer being served in the Peacock pub with bitter in a plastic glass. I have declined such an offer ever since.

However, my redemption came much sooner at Elland Road when we won  1-0 there in 1975 on the way to the second championship title. We had been under the cosh all game but it was still 0-0 late on when Francis Lee broke away to beat David Harvey with a dipping shot to secure both points. It was our first league goal at Leeds since our return to Division One in 1969.

Remember Frannys goal well. Didn't go down to well with the locals though. Intimidating walk back to the car, you didnt wear your colours in those days!!!

One vivid recollection of that period as a 10 year old, was the woman who used to sell programs from the front window of a terraced house (walking towards the Normanton End). She had the loudest voice I've ever heard - "PROGRAMS"

Hahahaha  Remember her well, think you first heard her on walk to ground,  around Pear tree Crescent. God knows what away fans used to think as they were coming to  the night matches. Leys billowing crap out and to be fair she did sound a bit like an old hag or witch

In all of this, for the ‘fleeting’ supporter, there might be a team just 13 miles down the road that may be a division above us next season. What is the more attractive fixture: Derby v Fleetwood or Burton v Leeds?

If Barton had still been there, worth it to see two old has beens slugging it out in tunnel after match

When you look at the fixtures it is difficult to see when we'll get our next win. Sadly, I could see it not coming until possibly Reading at the end of September. I obviously hope it will come away at Hull but I am finding it difficult to feel positive going into any of our games.

Reading???  U seen our record against them?

I don't agree Mel is blameless at all and in fact think he's been a bloody nightmare especially over the last couple of seasons and didn't IMO need to go on talksport and in a way stoke up the EFL  but do agree we as fans need to get onside with this and stand together because we are in a mess....when Mel and co have gone WE WILL STILL BE HERE supporting this club home and away

Players,Managers,Chairman,Owners etc come and go but we as fans are forever.............................

I do like the idea of us fans raising the 100k and presenting it to the EFL on DCFC's behalf...it would be great publicity and send a message to all the bamfords in the EFL including arses like Gibson that we are Derby and we are not going away

We have been good members of the EFL over the years with good attendances and a good record and we need to stand together and be heard.

I don't know if David could possibly organise a fund raising appeal but someone said 4000 at 25 quid which I think sounds reasonable but I will be happy to put a 100 quid in ....i've saved well over that not being able to travel to games

Fund raise???  I'm a fan but not that thick, doubt 4000 would agree to that

Easter Monday 1975. Away to Burnley. For those that were there I need say no more about the significance of the result. A second championship in four years was almost in the bag.

As a 12 year old the Burnley fans were terrifying that day, to be fair they probably still would be now 46 years later. No scarves in Burnley town centre that day

Only done that twice, gone in away end. 3 of us went in Kop at Sheff Wed 1990 League cup game. Deano scored and we couldn't contain ourselves. All around us they had just been bellowing 'Atkinsons Barmy Army'. Luckily escorted out by a South Yorks bobby asking us if we were looking for a good hiding. Allowed us to stay in Sheff Wed seats! 1-1 bloody freezing as usual at Sheff

The Liverpool game was my 18th birthday, I hadn't got a ticket but a neighbour who was a steward gave me a complimentary ticket, only problem was it was in the away end. It was at the height of the hooligan problem but I still decided to go anyway. I stood right in the middle of the scouser's not dareing to speak and I remember just nodding once when the bloke next to me asked me my opinion. They were worried when big Rog came on for Leighton James and of course he justified his super sub tag with the goal. It was difficult but I had to feign disapointment with the rest of them around me when the goal went in but inside I was secretly elated.
