At 5am this morning, a pedestrian pressed the button on a pelican crossing, then crossed the road before the lights changed.  In fairness, I was still a few hundred yards away (approaching in my car), and he put neither himself or me in danger.
As I reached the lights, his green man lit up, my lights changed to red... but he had already crossed, and waltzed without a care in the world.
There was no other traffic in view, and no other pedestrians.
In that situation, I would very much like to be able to ignore my red light, treat the crossing like a zebra crossing, and drive on.
But I'm not allowed... so I waited... because they are the rules.
Sometimes, rules are pretty crap, ain't they!

On the sitting v standing debate, it should be quite easy for the club to fix.
Most games we are selling out away allocations, makes little sense to release tickets by blocks, especially when you combine it with the priority system. If you are going to reward fans loyalty, don’t stick them away in the corner of the stand for wanting to buy the ticket early.
Have 2 categories, singing blocks and family/over 50s blocks.
The family/over 50s block should be seen by fans as seated blocks and a family friendly atmosphere. There would be no restrictions preventing a 25 year old fan that would prefer to sit as well from purchasing tickets in these blocks, however if you go in there and stand then expect to be told to sit your arse down by those around you.
Singing sections, expect to stand and hear the more fruity side of the English language.
The club would have someone word it better without actually advertising any blocks as standing which goes against the ground regulations. Rotate the blocks per game so one category is not always being given the best views.
No football fan should ever feel unable to attend away games for fear of feeling unsafe and unable to see the game, right now the club are doing a terrible job at ensuring fans don’t feel this way.
So many stories on here where older fans have had verbals off younger fans either in their seat, or refusing to sit down so they can see, not right at all. It’s a complete lottery of who you will find yourself among and that one game, that one coked up 18 year old could end the away travels of another fan.
    Do better Derby.

... Apart from those disabled fans that couldn't get a ticket as able-bodied fans who just wanted to sit down snapped them all up.
How about those that want to sit down just buy a ticket in a seated stand, where there are many more seats than in the "mini-stand for disabled"?  ?‍♂️

Anyway... I'm done on this one... I can't compete with your rhetoric.  ?

On the standing vs sitting question as annoying as it is there is a culture in this country of standing for away games. I tend to think if you are going away then obviously you need to keep that in mind. It sucks for many people but that's the state of play for a lot of clubs nowadays and generally has been since I've been going. Given how difficult it is to get away tickets atm the argument that we cordon off sections for standing/sitting is most likely unworkable. For any 'big game' it would also be completely fruitless as an exercise thus limiting its effectiveness to matches where if you want to sit you likely can anyway.
However, having said this I've got a ticket for Bolton on the front row of the bottom tier and am expecting to sit down for the match. Whilst I'd prefer to stand I view it as common courtesy to sit down if someone is older and would like to watch the match. I'd like to think that most people would accept that if you're very low down then you may have to sit down for the duration of the game even if your personal preference is to stand. We all want to go for as long as we can and some people are unfortunately not blessed with the health or stamina to stand for 2 hours. I'd hate to think that if one day as I got older I felt I couldn't enjoy the rams away because younger healthier folk couldn't stand the idea of sitting down near the front of the stand.
So for me the name of the game is realism and consideration. It's not realistic to expect formal structures to be put in place on the standing vs sitting question and neither are they for my money likely to work. But people should be considerate of others. If you're wanting to stand then try to get a ticket closer to the back of the stand. If that's not possible you should accept it is the considerate and polite thing to sit down if you are asked to do so.

The reason people "back then" went in their thousands was due to vast open terraces that could accept thousands.  Because of the crushes that happened, those vast terraces were replaced with seats.  That equalled a much lower capacity for the same size stadia, and also due to seat widths/pitches, everyone is more spread out, thus further reducing the risk of said crushes.
That is the reason why we are less likely to get crushed today... and the whole point of the larger stadia being ordered by law to become all-seater.
Note the words "law" and "all-seater".
The fact that crowds are now smaller than "back then", and less likely to be crushed, is most definitely not a coincidence.  It's almost as if someone planned it that way!

The best idea was Burton, those that wanted to stand bought a ticket behind the goal, those that wanted to sit bought a seat ticket, and those that bought a seat ticket but thought it was ok to stand up were asked to sit down, but we’ve been over this.

So you had a choice of standing on the terrace behind the goal, or sitting in the seated stand...yet are moaning about not being able to stand in the seated stand.
Life unfortunately doesn't revolve around you and every one of your exact demands. If you want to stand, buy tickets in the designated standing section. If you don't, you can't moan about not being able to stand.

Happy to be proved wrong, but I'd imagine physics would prove that by merely standing up and losing one's balance, it would be nigh on impossible for a human to go tumbling a further 10 rows of seats, without additional intervention.  And I'd include inebriated humans in that... although they may manage to tumble 3 or 4 rows!
It would be much easier to manage nearer to 10 rows if one starts from a standing position, and is encouraged to tumble by a group of others, that are willing to experiment with various forms of pushing and collision techniques.
The odd individual that has gone tumbling down rows of seats is usually down to intoxication, and/or due to standing in a seated area.  I'm not aware of anyone going tumbling down the seats from a seated position.  I'm not, however, claiming that that has never happened.

Many people have been killed and/or injured falling down terraces (standing).
I'd wager a fair few on here have personally experienced the phenomenon of being moved down 10 steps of concrete terracing, without their feet touching the floor.  I doubt any of them have had similar experience when sat in the seats.
"Safe standing" is deliberately and consciously designed in such a way that the seats are locked away, purely to negate the possibility of falling when standing amongst "Flip-down" seats.

I'm a big fan of @i-Ram's analogy with cinema seating.  So much so, I gave him a "like", which is not something I am likely to make a habit of!   ?

I’m a wheelchair user and have to miss some away matches because I know that I won’t see some or all of the pitch because I know fans will be standing in the area in front of me (due to inadequate facilities that the clubs’ know they have but often won’t do anything about unless forced to).
If I or the person I’m with asks others to sit we are usually given verbal abuse (even though we’re all there for the same reason, to watch & support Derby).
Standing in seated areas IS selfish (and sometimes arrogance). @B4ev6is please think of others that cannot or don’t want to stand (or be forced to stand because everyone else is).
I also don’t understand the notion that the atmosphere is only better because people stand. As someone who likes to chant etc. I can tell you that it can still be enjoyable sitting down.

He's gonna be a good player for sure. How good is always a tricky thing to gauge (cf Sibley too). I'm glad that Warne encourages him to get forward and he seems to be get trained in how to challenge for headers! He's bulking up and no longer looks weedy. I really do hope we get to see him progress here with us. #COYR

The majority of away fans are elderly, have some respect.  Some of them fought in the war and if it wasn’t for them you’d be watching Derby Bezirk Fußball Verein.
Rest assured me and @iRam @David will be sat down all game.
