Done very well to get us in 2nd position if he gets everything wrong.

Have you considered the possibility that it may actually be you getting things wrong?

So you think nml should be captain? He gets alot of credit for getting us 2nd yes but captain decisions have been bad hourihane? Nml is a joke also with the squad we have we should be top 2 i aint going to say hes done well i think he has achived the target what should of been in place tbh

The Hourihane sub made some sense, we took off the ineffective CBT and changed shape which got Wilson further up the pitch. The delay to make any further changes is the bit I’m more irked by. But I’m not putting it all on Warne, collectively it wasn’t good enough tonight from those on the pitch and off it.
Credit to the fans who were singing throughout and doing their bit.

Wilson the one who loses the everytime and nml has been poor for the last 8 or so games? The subs are too predictable! How did it make sense please answer, we are trying to win the game you take of a attacker for a real slow midfielder who gives you nothing!

We looked all over the place at times but blame still lies with the players for me, gutless performance and can't excuse those missed chances.

I also agree its down to the players as well but warne has to get them going! Every time we get to this point we throw it away! Tatically we were poor a few good chances yes but everytime we have a break we look s*it we are better not being on a training ground and just playing everyday

Rather than focus on the manager, what about chances missed by poor shooting or bad touches ? There is a point when it’s 11 v 11 and the guys with the ball at their feet having to do something with it.

What about the subs? Blackett t for hourihane when your looking for a goal should of just give him a red card and told hourihane to stay comfy

Not on them. He's got a bottle inside one of his boots. Tough playing like that tbf.

I didnt know that to be fair, but why risk him? Give weston ago some they dont know i know its a gamble but its better then risking him

He might be playing with painkillers etc. which sort of lets him off the hook.

But if he isn’t hampered at all then that finish is tragic.

Who said hes on painkillers? Also theres no reason why hes been out of form for so long as theres no medical team would allow him to play so many minutes if he was in pain

I'd have put my mortgage on Mendez-Laing scoring there. This is going to be one of those games isn't it.

Nml has been shocking for the last 6/7games doesnt surprise me he missed it totally out of form. Also dont agree hes a captain never has and never will

One day, maybe not in my life time, people may realise that wingers, and creative players in general, outside the premier league are wildly inconsistent. They’re asked to try things, scoring and assisting is difficult. They’ll mess up a lot, they’ll give it away a lot. It’s even more difficult when you’re often the only creative outlet in the entire team as NML has been.

When you play through a player as much as warne has in nml then your going to get goals and assists im not saying hes been bad but theres been more consistent players the nml in the season as in nelson. Also if your in the prem or sunday league 2 you should have a better touch then he has first touch 8/10 is awful

Who has Nelson been overlooked by?  Mentioned in virtually every post on here, mainly stated he'd received the voters vote!
Certainly not been overlooked by Warne, looking at the appearance stats.

    🤷‍♂️

Not so over looked just consistently good where players like that do get over looked thats what i mean it just expected. I didnt say he was over looked just pointing out the obvious

A wet pitch and players slipping is potentially the WORST conditions to try a high intensity press as easy to sidestep someone racing in to close you down.... look at the 1st goal we conceded, Nelson needed to hold position instead of getting too close to be easily passed, but it's hard in those conditions

Thats not high press in that manor i ment when the ball is forward which is a high press! High press is putting pressure on there defensive line where pressing is consistant pressing around the pitch it does get confused alot but coaching terms thats what its classed as

Press a man hard on a pitch as waterlogged as that and as you approach he’ll push the ball to one side and watch you slide towards the bye line like a duck landing on a lake north of Toronto in February

I didnt say hard, it said a high press so when the ball went forward not press all the time then giving them time all the time

Surely every post in here is an opinion?

X had a good game tonight.

    That’s a good point.

    Warne’s subs were poor.

    Thompson looked lively.

Wildsmith has to do better there.

    Warne deserves credit tonight.

Pretty much everyone’s statements in here are opinions. Mine too. It would look a bit tedious if you have to write IMO after every line.

Opinions are fine as long as they aren’t insulting anybody.

Bit harsh the conditions were awful for gks tonight i said at the start id have long shots with the wind makes it very hard. I aint going to say anything about warne as people must see football in different ways

Perhaps the pitch and conditions played a part in that? Plus our threadbare, injury affected squad. Did we have the fitness and legs to press them relentlessly, letting them have the ball with time seemed fairly effective, save for a tired/half-committed tackle and the subsequent wonder strike to equalise.

My only criticism of Warne tonight would be the timing of the subs, IF he’d taken Collins off for Washington earlier we could speculate that the ineffectiveness of the tackle from Collins is a non-event with a fresh legged Washington closing him down instead.

But that’s a theory. The reality is we got a good point at Portsmouth which puts us 4 points ahead of Bolton and 8 points ahead of Posh/Barnsley. Yes they’ve got games in hand but even if they win their respective games in hand we’re still ahead of them all. It’s in our hands, we’ve got 8 days to recover and prep for the next game. I’m still optimistic 🐏

Yes thats fair enough, but defending 45mins solid is alot harder then controling the play and making teams work harder to get the ball so theres more chance of injuries due to sprinting more to covering so if you won the ball more forward you could of kept the ball and taken pressure of the players trying to defend

I am not a happy clapper but Warne got most of it right tonight and I am proud of the team. Bolton now need 2 wins to get above us.

Im not being a p***k about it i just feel we gave them too much respect 2nd half and didnt put pressure on them, like i said before the game i was well happy to get a point but feel we gave them too much time second half and it cost us the win

    Why high press??

Just because Man City and Liverpool do it, does it mean everyone does? Our shape and discipline were outstanding. We were comfortable. They created nothing. There was no space, everything was in front. Just because they had 70 odd percent possession means nothing. We were not holding on. We were sitting deep, but they were getting frustrated. A wonder strike was the difference. A high press is what they would want, opening gaps to exploit.

Its a wet pitch and players slipping left right and centre you put press on them it make it hard im not on about having the ball but being behind the ball all the second half we gave them too much respect

  16. Just now, Jimbo Ram said:

    Really 🙄

Sitting 11 behind a ball when every player has been slipping all game and not put press on them yes! I was happy with a point before the game but we played into there hands collins to be defending for there goal wheres the midfield? In our fibal 1/4 of the pitch and they score because you only hald collins that far forward is shocking!
