Sounds interesting, send me a pm with some recommendations for reading ?
Agree with lots of the above but I do believe we lose a lot if faces are covered from chin to eyes and your not seeing the whole face , I’m one of those daft people that over the last few years ( before covid ) have made a conscious effort to smile at people in daily life , not the cheesy American have a nice day way but genuinely smile , be patient and warm ,
you know what ,, it does change people and situations in the main ,, when I wear a mask around everybody else wearing masks as I’ve done plenty over the last few years I feel really disconnected and laugh as people may I find it quite sad , it’s like the big city condition on steroids ??‍♂️

@Archied - I can share books in here and maybe others are interested.
I'll stick to easy to read stuff, not because I don't think you're capable of reading more academic stuff, but quite honestly a lot of it bores me senseless.
The Undoing Project by Michael Lewis - A brilliant introduction to the work of Tversky and Kahnaman from the guy who wrote Moneyball.
Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely - A cool intro into behavioural economics and why humans do irrational poo. Ariely is a Professor at Duke so a lot of the research he's done himself.
Influence by Robert Cialdini - Probably the seminal book on how and why we are influenced by others and outside factors. This book has been raped and pillaged by marketers, but it has real value for anybody wanting to understand human behaviour.
It has just been republished with a lot of new cutting edge research. I read the old one a couple of times and I'm working my way through the new one that is almost twice as long.
Like Ariely, Cialdini is a professor and much of the research is his own.
Situations Matter by Sam Sommers -Another book written by an academic but for laypeople and really entertaining. He breaks down the whole James Bulger murder when upwards of 50 people (I think, could have been in the 30s actually, but a lot) saw Thompson and Venables with James but nobody properly intervened.
It seems none of us would, it was typical human behaviour and people who say otherwise are just victims of hindsight bias.
Anything by Malcolm Gladwell other than his short stories book which I forget the name of. I loved Blink which is a deep dive into rapid cognition and have read it maybe 5 times. But his last book Talking with Strangers was really good too and shows how we and why we jump to erroneous conclusions.
Gladwell pretty much turns every topic on its head and says it's not like we think it is and he's usually right. His revisionist history podcast is great too.
Freakonomics - Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner - A really fun read. Like seems to be a thing in this thread, they look at common misconceptions and explain why all is not what it appears on the surface. I read this 16 or 17 years ago so cannot remember many details, but the fact that it went to America with me in 2006 and came back again last year means I must have loved it.
Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman - One of my favourite books of all time and a must for anybody serious about understanding how we come to decisions and how/why we often get them wrong.
I have a couple of hundred books in my Audible.com account, but you cannot merge .co.uk and .com so when I moved back I had to set up a new account and now I cannot get to my older ones to scroll through.
Well, I suppose I could if I could be arsed, but I've lost my password and it would mean logging out of Audible.co.uk and then resetting my old password.
But I'm sure that should keep you going for the weekend.

You don’t want or like the mandatory wearing of masks ,, UNLESS people with not as much sense as YOU chose not to wear them or less empathy than YOU choose not to wear them ??‍♂️Can you actually see what your saying and let’s have it right here it’s not masks it’s FACE COVERINGS, cloth , paper ,plastic ,in fact anything from the wife’s tights to a pair of your pants will suffice,
it reduces transmission by 53% I’m told on here but real world figures show countries that kept face mask mandates along with more regulations have not only not done better case wise but actually done worse than England, face coverings do bugger all ,real world numbers clearly show that ??‍♂️
the selfish ones are the people who cling to the safety blanket in the face of undeniable and want to force them on those who will not take part in this stupid theatre ?
the same trick is being pulled on every aspect , vaccines can’t just be allowed to be for the individual s protection they have to be for the protection of others even when real world evidence starts to kick in showing that being double, triple or however many times jabbed doesn’t stop catching and spreading covid yet vaccine passports and the victimisation of non vaccinated speeds ahead ??‍♂️
    ffs wake up people

Also forgot to add that this was all being done whilst some of the people on our tv screens, telling us how dangerous the virus is and we must follow the rules, were carrying on their lives as normal.

Well you really don’t know or are ignoring the impact masks have had on children , masks do not just cover the mouth as you try to portray  it , we are mandated FACE COVERINGS and these face coverings / masks cover everything from under the chin to just under the eyes so actually yes it does impact hugely

If the Government are forcing people to take mandatory tests, for no logical reason, then it really should be them that pick up the tab.
Would you have the same outlook if the Government insisted that you had to pay £70 or £80 to go to the pub or to a football ground? Because I would hazard a guess that you've got as much chance of caching Covid in them settings as you have in Lapland.

That’s the least of it , the trivial ludicrous stuff,
don’t ever forget , leaving our families / friends to die alone , or suffer for months and months alone , buried alone , not allowed to support and comfort our friends and families who have lost someone or may be going through extreme mental , emotional or physical difficulties ,
never never never again , masks the thin edge of the wedge driven taken out driven in again , I will never be dehumanised again and anybody saying it’s only a mask has a very short memory ,
covid is not the be all and end all of everything that people have become obsessive about ,, there’s real lives , real tragedy s , real joys all around us all the time , it’s the nature of life ,, jeez covid would barely scrape into the top ten of things that kill and or disable us on a daily basis
whos bothere about the big rise in non covid excess deaths we are now seeing in stats ? Certainly not the government or the media

the government have been very clear from the start that they have targeted anything THEY call covid misinformation  , that’s censorship my friend

To be fair, there has been a couple of times when I have wanted to drive a tank over the protestors. Getting to an IKEA is bad enough at the best of times without some soap dodgers littering the road with bodies and glue.

When have I expressed an opinion other than produce facts that the BBC has recieved getting on for 1m complaints for bias over the past 2 years, giving self-confessed communists air time re. more covid restrictions whilst ignoring the protests of those that don't want more restrictions?

A lot of people, especially older folk still trust the BBC.  My parents for example don't have Sky, get the Burton Mail, listen to Radio Derby and watch BBC News.  I have had several chats with them about not vaccinating kids, discussing the realities of covid and protests around the UK and rest of the world - non of which they knew about.
My point remains that unless you get your news from multiple sources you are only ever fed a narrow perspective and you are ignorant to a lot of what is going on around you.  Not only do you receive the bias from your chosen media outlet but you also suffer a lack of knowledge in not learning about the stuff they don't want to report.
