The welterweight division is the best in the world, but it's one of the least active. US promotions are rubbish.

Errol Spence has only fought three times in two years, and it will be eight months since his last fight against Brook when he faces Lamont Peterson in January, another who has only fought once since October 2015.

Khan is off the radar. Keith Thurman has no fights planned since facing Danny Garcia last March, likewise Danny Garcia hasn't fought since March nor does he have an opponent named. He, also, has only fought 3 times since August 2015.

Shawn Porter has a decent resume with Brook, Thurman, Broner and Berto as 4 of his last 6 opponents. But his recent win against Adrian Granados came 7 months after the Berto fight and it will probably be another 7 months until he fights again.

The whole set-up in the US is terrible.

You can't get excited about them. Have to wait too long between fights. The excitement from one fight should carry fans into the next.

Can't do that with a fight every 7 months

Late with the stoppage wasn't he? The lad had clearly gone well before the ref stepped in. Devastating work from Kovalev.

Yeah, was surprised it wasn't called on the 2nd knockdown at the end of the first.

What was with the crowd? It looked like a small venue but they said Madison Square Garden?

Some good fights to be made at that weight. Badou Jack fights at that weight now. Maybe Adonis Stevenson could show up more than once per year.

Shame we've not got much British interest amongst all the eastern Europeans and Americans.

  3. Kovalev destroyed Shabranskyy. Probably could have been stopped in round 1.

Just watched IFL interview with Fury. Feel for him. I like it when he's himself more and not playing up. Really hope he comes back.

    Yes he’s done Sheffield proud.

The lads had it tough though.

Don't watch  much boxing these days as the big fights are mostly on box office.

Tend to listen on 5 live

YouTube the day after has nearly everything matey.

If I miss a fight I get the missus to find it on YouTube so I don't see the result.

It's thriving in the UK right now. The super middle weight has great potential for domestic brawls. Eubank Jnr v Groves in Feb. The winner will likely face Callum Smith. And all will be hoping for a big meet down the line with DeGale.

Eubank v Groves could be special.

Do you think Kell will be back after this.

Not at elite level. After the doctors told him he could have gone blind with one more punch from Golovkin it obviously registered with him.

He took a knee in that Spence fight and spoke about protecting his health/vision.

I think once you compromise once you make it easier in the future. Not calling him a quitter but he'll be up against guys who aren't thinking of their health.

The Khan fight will probably happen when they've got nowhere to go.

    Do you like Brook?

Replay of Brook and Spence at Bramall Lane  on Sky Sport Mix now

    Round 8 coming up

Gutted for Brook but Spence was the better man. For an awesome weight division it doesn't seem to drum up interest.

I having nothing more to add. I fully agree.

So have you seen the Parker team's press conference? Lol. In a reception area, with a few posters. And nothing for them to sit on. They even have to keep moving for the mic.

That's not the best bit though. You've got to see the offer made to Joshua's sparring partners, Parker sweating his tits off fanning himself with a notebook and his trainers receding hairline that keeps getting worse. It's very cringe, so watch with a pillow you can place over your face.

I'm going to watch it now. I've seen the Whyte v Joshua amateur fight before. I'm not sure what he's trying to prove. Lennox Lewis got knocked out by Hasim Rahman.

These heavies should go fight Whyte. Do a good job and you've got more to bring to the table. Or Bellew. Just anyone to increase your UK profile. While using the racism thing to devalue AJ.

While Joshua could sell out Wembley in a fight against Ant and Dec your not going to be able to make demands

Dillian Whyte has been telling people for years about the true Joshua. To be honest, i just thought he was jealous or bitter. Now i'm pretty sure he's right.

So now Joshua is a drug pusher and potentially a black supremacist

What disgusts me, as you say, is the lack of coverage. I don't know why, but it's that under reported i bet most casuals wouldn't even know about it. If i had hacked his account, i'd go for Fury. The target they chose, if he was hacked, makes no sense.

Imagine Fury being caught sending that?

Made me chuckle, that pic of Joshua and Terry.

Eddie Hearn did an interview with IFL today and he says it's happened a few times that dodgy messages have been sent out. He seemed so relaxed about it. Joshua is on holiday and will sort it when he gets back kinda thing.

That makes me think they're even more full of s***.

It sounds like a 'play'. To just dismiss it with a shrug of the shoulders. It's nothing. Not worth commenting on. It's obvious he's been hacked. Nothing to it.

I'd maybe buy it if they did the obvious response. Send out apologies for any offence, I've been hacked, I'm obviously not a black supremacist, go public as there's nothing to hide.

The way they've acted is like it's a very considered and patient response to something, if it was me, i would want to be all over it.

I mean we've seen a different side to Joshua since the win over Wlad. Very celebrity, recently started biting and just a bit more ego. Which is cool. No problem there. The nice boy image was a bit much anyway considering his background and profession. But if the message to Eddie chambers had been sent another time then I'd think nah. But while he's had a bit of grief from all angles it makes me think he might be firing back at everyone.

Hope he was hacked. He still is an exciting talent and Olympic champion. I'd like to keep supporting him, wouldn't You? I quite like seeing his more aggressive responses.

But the way it's been handled just doesn't seem a natural response.

I mean if Fury does go up against him he's going to bring up all of this and more in the build up. He will love to fight a Joshua that will want to kill him in the opening round. As we've seen Joshua has had 2 dodgy moments when he's got greedy.

Yeah, spent too long in America. Not many people will stay up that late for build ups and the fight. In fact, has he defended his title here? I dont think he has. And he won it over there too.

Yeah, his front teeth fell out vs Badou. Was doing it before then. Just seems to be slurring his words. That fight i stayed up for. Was brilliant. You know someone is digging in when their gum shield keeps coming out because they have no teeth to clamp down on it.

Interesting to see if BT and Warren can start to put these big shows on over here. Think saturation point might be getting hit. Probably why Hearn is off to America.

I'd love Warren to comeback strong. Competition is good for the fans.

What do you make of the Joshua thing. I can't see it being a hack. And the way the media has ignored it... well that's just dirty!

I don't think Wilder or Parker will beat him. But I can't support him if that's how he feels. I didn't expect him to be as perfect as his image suggests. But a black supremacist is quite far from perfect.

I know he's been under lots of pressure lately. He's getting criticised for his recent performance and every heavyweight on the planet is hammering him. But it's no excuse. He can go join John Terry by the pool in Dubai again and they can argue it out which colour person is superior.

Like Dillian Whyte said "if he's been hacked they'd send a message to Fury or Wilder."

Perfect time for Hearn to take him abroad.

Long way back to the perfect image.

Super middles semi finals are end of January/early February. Very surprised a venue hasnt been announced for Groves vs Eubank Jr. Probably trying to pull off Stamford Bridge or something.

The rumours of Haye being injured from two weeks a go seem legitimate again. Not sure i believe how he did it or which injury he is carrying.

Looking forward to De Gale. Is it me or has he got a bit of a stutter and a bit of a heavy tongue? Some of his fights have been wars. Looks like it's taking its toll.

I've not seen DeGale interviews for a long while. I saw his fight against Jack though. Lost his front teeth didn't he?

Feel a bit sorry for DeGale. He's kind of not got quite the public interest he deserves in comparison to other UK fighters who have achieved less.

So Haye is a retirement home job. Where does Bellew go now? Fury just put up a funny call out video for May but Bellew surely won't want any of that?

Be giving away about 9 inches and 5 stone wouldn't he?

If he wants to cash out then I'd take it. Fury isn't a big puncher so he could possibly survive 12 rounds and lose on points.

He gave up his cruiser title. He said the big money is in the HW division. He's surely looking at making some cash and calling it a day.

I'm sure ideally he wants Parker.

Whoever he fights I don't see him winning. These guys are too big. All he can be looking at doing is surviving and then it sounds good.

When is the semi finals for the super middleweight?

Lomachenko on the 9th. DeGale on the 9th. I think Saunders is the week after. Povetkin is December. Still some decent fighters to come out this year even though Bellew/Haye is off.

I think it's more interesting where Haye goes from here. If he talks about carrying on i would love to know what he's got mapped out

Povotkin is 38 now, I don’t think he has much left in the tank.

Assuming he beats Hammer, he will probably have one last big fight in him then retire.

I’m disappointed he didn’t fight Wilder in Russia. That would have been an indicator as to Wilder’s ability.

Yeah, I don't understand how he failed a drugs test yet is fighting a sanctioned eliminator next month!

Shouldn't have any problems with Hammer.

Wilder is in for a payday nothing else. Minimum risk all the way up padding a record with garbage and then cash out. Joshua coming along is a dream come true for him. But anyone who thinks Whyte beats Wilder is mad in my eyes. Chisora gave Whyte war and just got completely outboxed for the European title. Whyte got wobbled by a jab from Helenius and then struggled to a win. Wilder is too athletic and too powerful for Whyte. He's shown zero improvement since Joshua beat him, if anything he's gone backwards. Wilder stops him for me.

Did anyone see Bivol last week? The next Golovkin right there, true power.

Yeah, can't wait to see Bivol again. What a beast.

Looks like Whyte will headline at the O2 in February. Maybe they could get Miller over. It's winner winner chicken dinner either way then. Either boosts Whyte to Wilder or boosts Miller to Joshua. Both can talk enough garbage to sell what would end up being another platform for Wilder or Joshua to use to boost their profile in the opposing country

  14. 16 hours ago, Norman said:

Lemieux. Billy Joe shouldn't even have that belt after his second to last fight in some run-down leisure centre

    1. Because he didnt win the fight.

    2. No world title fight should be watched by less than 400 live.

The Monroe fight was no better.

Being a bit harsh on him there. But i really dont like his style or him as a person.

Plus he's fighting in Canada, isnt he. So he cant even rely on a dodgy points decision.

Golovkin wont be making much from whoever wins, i cant imagine.

I desperately want the little gypo to get beat before a payday. I can't believe he's held that title for so long.

Good night in the US for Eddie Hearn with Miller stopping Wach and Daniel Jacobs winning a wide UD.

I’d like to see Miller and Whyte fight. Reckon that would be an interesting one.

Only seen Miller fight once and it was against Washington. Looked pretty good. Good win last night.

Do you think Povetkin could spring some surprises on these guys

  16. 4 hours ago, Norman said:

Don't know why Wilder won't fight Whyte. Whyte says the deal is 3-4 million, which is way more than Wilder has ever been offered for a fight, Whyte has looked poor in his last few fights too.

Fight Whyte, get well known over here, massive build up for the Joshua fight who has just took the other belt off Parker and a super fight is made.

Whyte is mandatory anyway, isn't he?

    It's mad isn't it.

If Whyte makes him nervous then he can't back himself that much. He took the Povetkin fight for less than $1m I heard? Whyte would be the ideal launch pad as you say.

I think Whyte is waiting to hear if he has to fight one more eliminator.

Breazeale beat Molina the other night which was an eliminator. Not sure what for but I think it was also WBC.

Joshua's interview on IFL was good. Have you seen it? Great response to all Wilder's recent rant.

BJS v Lemieux in December. Who you fancy?

  17. Think Wilder might have dug himself a hole. He's not offered Joshua the fight but he has talked Hearn into making him an offer. After saying he's not bothered about splits he's about to get offered way more than he's ever earned I imagine.

Might be time to work on that defence Deontay.

  18. 1 hour ago, ossieram said:

He really didn't have to put on a great performance last night.

He blitzed him though. Took no punches, picked shots, played to the crowd, took him down 3 (?) times in 1 round. It was punch perfect.

I can't imagine any other heavyweight doing it so spectacularly perfect. Even Joshua tends to spend round 1 getting the range and figuring out the mechanism of the opponent. Wilder put on a show.

    Well I enjoyed it anyway.

Still think AJ will do him.
