Not needed when we have Brown. This guy (27 years old!) has 21 goal contributions in 37 games (just under 0.5 per 90)

Brown has 9 goals and 4 assists in his 19 games, but only 140 mins across his first 9 league games - not far off 1.5 goal contributions per 90 mins!!!

The summer will likely see the non renewal of contracts for Washington, waghorn, gayle. John-jules loan ends.

So a 27 year old player who can give a decent goals return, is something that should interest the manager.

I think Brown might be sent out on loan next season to gain experience at a higher level, especially if we are promoted.

  2. I'd look at brannigan (oxford), Burrows (Peterborough), Mason-Clark (Peterborough), Dembélé (Blackpool), Jodi Jones (Notts County) as potential replacements for Hourihane in the summer.

Just trawled all that for 20mins, just to find his "prediction"...

    "I really hope so"
    and
"... But they’ve got winnable fixtures that you hope would see them over the line. Particularly when Barnsley and Bolton both need to play Pompey as well. One of them is gonna have to drop points.  So I think Derby will fancy themselves and I’m very hopeful they’re gonna get over the line.”

That's some feckin clickbait, that!  🤣

I've guess everyone has their own reading speed.

Maybe…..but that’s not a true central mf three…..and with the threats on the wing from Pompey we will need proper cover down the sides I think. I would go with a true 4-5-1 at Pompey….but it’s all opinions…..

But I’m sure PW will throw us a bit of a curved ball anyway…..bottom line is that we need every player on their game.

We should consider using either a 4-3-3 or a 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond) formation to counter Portsmouth's favoured 4-2-3-1. That way we have the best chance of overloading the midfield to gain control, focus attacks down the wings to exploit wide spaces, and be prepared to sit back in a compact low block and unleash quick counter-attacks. Player roles and adaptability will be essential, and set-piece preparation could prove decisive in this tactical battle.

Just watching Patrick Bamford play for Leeds - said to be on £70,000 a week . They can afford it . First season for coming down - they will pocket £55 million in parachute payments . It drops in season 2 and 3 but how can they fail with that sort of   income on top of good crowds .

If promoted to the Championship, i expect warne will adopt a strategic player recruitment approach focused on:

Experienced Lower-League Gems: Prioritise signing players from lower leagues who have already proven their quality and possess the mental fortitude to thrive in the Championship. These players offer valuable experience and immediate impact.

High-Potential Youth: Invest in young, driven players with high potential. This focus unlocks opportunities for future development and profitable player sales, promoting financial sustainability.

Smart Financial Decisions: Avoid the temptation of overspending on big-name signings from the Premier League or top-tier Championship clubs. These come with significant financial risk and might not align with the team's strategy.

Strategic Loan Market Use: Leverage the loan market to acquire talented players from higher-level clubs. This enhances squad depth and quality without excessive long-term financial commitments.

Playing Style and Culture Fit: Above all, prioritise players who seamlessly integrate with Derby County's established playing style and foster a positive team culture. Strong team cohesion and chemistry are essential for success at the Championship level.

Ideal Age Balance: Strive for a mix of experienced players in their prime (24-29 years old) and those bursting with youthful potential (18-23 years old). The experienced core provides leadership, stability, and Championship-specific know-how, while younger talents inject energy, growth potential, and resale value. Minimise players past their peak (30+) due to the Championship's physical demands.

Lower League Focus: Aggressively scout and recruit top talent from League One and League Two. These players embody cost-effectiveness, ambition, and a hunger to prove themselves at a higher level. Supplement this approach with a few experienced Championship players to guarantee the team has the quality and know-how needed to compete.

This multifaceted recruitment approach will empower us to assemble a competitive Championship squad that champions financial responsibility and sustainable growth within the club.

Good luck finding one for a fee we can afford

If we earn promotion, we need a budget that signals our intent to compete in the Championship. Otherwise, we're just setting ourselves up for embarrassment. Ambitious managers want to be part of a winning project, and the right budget shows owners are serious about success.

He’s a super player for sure but he seems settled at Portsmouth.

Has bullied our central defenders in the past.

Let's target a striker like Colby Bishop – someone who is strong, good in the air, and excels as a target man. We need a player in that 21-30 age range who can give us the goals we need for Championship success.

  8. Colby Bishop, Portsmouth fc, at 27yrs, is a physical, hardworking striker who excels at getting on the end of crosses and causing problems for defenses. Hes got circa 20 goals this season. In my opinion age matters. Here's how we can find similar players:

    Key Attributes to Look For:

Physicality: A strong presence in the box, able to hold off defenders and win aerial battles.

Work Rate: Someone who tirelessly presses, tracks back, and puts defenders under pressure.

Poaching: Clinical when chances come inside the penalty area. Good movement to find space.

Link-up Play: While not necessarily a technical dribbler, needs to be able to hold the ball up and bring others into the game.

Cashin exhumed class with the ball at his feet by making 71 touches, placing 50/60 passes accurately (83%) and three long balls while putting his body on the line for the team; blocking two shots, making four clearances and winning six aerial duels.

Those statistics won’t surprise anyone associated with Derby, but it does place his name further in the shop window.

Here they point out why cashin was our best player on the field.

Just out of interest, is there anything to back this up or is it just a guess?

The Impact of Long-Term Injuries on Football Players

Increased Risk of Re-Injury: Players with a history of injury are significantly more likely to suffer a re-injury of the same type in subsequent seasons. This highlights the need for tailored rehabilitation and prevention programs.

Lengthy Recovery Periods: Re-injuries often require longer recovery periods than initial injuries, particularly for muscle strains (e.g., hamstring, groin, quadriceps).

Injury Burden: The combined impact of injury frequency and severity is crucial for understanding the full effect on teams and player performance.

Age as a Factor: Older players (over 30) are more prone to severe injuries, which can lead to extended absences.

Need for Ongoing Surveillance: While overall injury rates may remain consistent across seasons, specific injury patterns can change, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring for targeted interventions.

In conclusion, long-term injuries significantly impact football players' performance, increasing their risk of future setbacks and prolonging their return to play. Coaches and medical professionals must work together to optimize rehabilitation, implement prevention strategies, and carefully manage the return-to-play process, taking into account individual player factors like age and injury history.
