I'm not sure Peterborough would rest anyone against Bolton regardless of their midweek result - they'll be pushing for 3rd as a minimum for the playoff advantages it brings...

COYR - let's do the job ourselves though, let the rest sort the playoffs out between themselves

Looking at Barnsley's form in 5th there's probably more of an advantage finishing 4th than 3rd.

I don't think it will matter regardless but will Ferguson rest players if they still have a mathematical chance but not really a realistic one say needing a 7 goal swing?

Interesting (perhaps only to me as my kids are playing on devices at the moment) if Peterborough do that, they would be second starting the last game of the season.

We'd beat Carlisle and they would draw with Bolton.

I would imagine that whoever is in 2nd place ahead of the final day will be the team to go up, I don’t see anyone in that position slipping up even if it’s Bolton or Peterborough as the other would probably have nothing to play for in that scenario.

  3. The way the points are now I can’t see GD coming into play, and this would only really help us if we’re 2 or 3 points ahead going into Carlisle and would give us the cushion of having an off day.

Bolton have Shrewsbury and Port Vale at home where they could easily eradicate our superior GD.

Not sure where that leaves us in terms of points realistically needed to get over the line.

  4. every time we log in to renew, it sends me to the edit profile section to add a title gender and city. and its changed my address back to an old one, I know its been right at some point this season as we've had tickets delivered to the new address. anyone else getting this?

I thought he did well (for most of the game) and possibly his best game for while in my eyes. Funny how we can see things differently. I guess that's football for you.

agree with the post that you replied to, an absolute passenger all night. players were getting past people or getting the ball out of their feet under pressure, giving it to Bird in hope of a bit of reprieve and he just gave it them straight back. cant remember once where he turned and ran or looked for a forward pass, just gave it back to where it came from all night

  6. to be outnumbered 4 to 1 there would only be 9,492 home fans going to the game.

why should we have over 3k going?

we only belong in them if we are in them at 2pm on Sunday

    balloons/roar

other than that, your post is great. but could have gone in the matchday thread nonetheless

Peterborough have Ipswich. If we can win these two home games then I reckon we'll do it. It'll be very tight though.

On the flip side, if Peterborough beat Ipswich that will be a hammer blow to our chances, if not terminal. Not only the 3 points they pick up but it will almost certainly mean Sheffield Wednesday will still have a chance of automatic promotion on the last day.

  8. With a potential quick turnaround if we finish 5th or 6th hopefully the club can start selling home leg tickets before the final whistle on the last day if we secure a spot a week earlier.

Has anyone got a good guess as to when the PO dates might be?

The League One season finishes first on Sunday 7th, championship and league two finish a day later on Monday 8th.

So on that basis I’d guess that League One will kick the Play Off schedule off.

    Leg 1. Fri 12th or Sat 13th

    Leg 2. Mon 15th or Tue 16th

    Final Sunday 28th
