Well.....that optimism was short lived. Hopefully the Dal at 3 experiment has ended. We really need to find another batsman from somewhere.

Excellent morning with the ball, bowled them out for 221, Critchley and Cohen with 2 a piece, Reece got the ball rolling with the wicket of Bresnan.

32 behind, the wickets been tricky from the start, and with uneven bounce. Of we could set them anything over 200 that could be tricky....have to keep an eye on the weather though.

169-5 and the rain is back. Been a good effort with the ball, a 50 plus stand has put Warwickshire in the driving seat now. The pitch is starting to misbehave quite a bit, if we can still bowl them out without them getting too far ahead, it will be an interesting last 2 days.

189 all out, 60’s for Reece and Critchley and very little else.

Perhaps at 37 he doesn’t feel he can bat that high up, and 5 is better for him now. I don’t know to be honest.

We are stacked with bowlers and all rounders, but only have 3 specialist batsmen. It’s crazy, but been that way for a while. We rely far too heavily on Madsen & Du Plooy and hope the all rounders can do enough in support. If we fail at the top of the order it’s usually a disaster.

Born out of a lack batting options. According to Dave Fletcher the other option to bat at 3 is Brooke Guest....which isn’t any more appealing to be honest.

Madsen wants to bat at 5.

Missed the Reece wicket.....I’ve missedmost of them to be honest, I need to stop leaving the screen.

Critchley with four 4’s in a row, and he’s motoring along. A great change of pace from the morning session.

Yeah if we want Critchley to be a top order batsman, these are the times he needs to show he can do it in these situations

50-4 Madsen falls just before lunch, disappointing as a good partnership was being it together.

Yeah watched most of it so far. Been tough going, warks bowling well in favourable conditions. Reece has applied himself well so far though.

Du Plooy out for a duck now. Reece has all 7 of our runs

The team....which suggests Dal will bat at 3. If he can do a job in there and split the main 4 batsmen up, that would be a bonus. Critchley at 6 rather than 5 also looks better.

Cricket season starts tomorrow. 13 man squad for the game against Warwickshire.

Looks very light in the batting department, only 4 genuine batsmen and Reece is an all rounder.

Billy Stanlake hasnt joined the squad yet as he’s still playing for Queensland.

Yeah, I don’t know much about Alonso, but it’s not like he’s the main reason Wednesday are a mess. That’s Chansiri.

We've dodged a bullet here too, Gladney was the third CB on our draft board after CJ Henderson and AJ Terrell according to Stephen Jones. Thankfully CD Lamb fell to us and we opted against taking Gladney! 

What a waste. Vikings fans won't be too down about the 2020 draft though. 

Cam Dantzler who we took in the 3rd turned out better than Gladney, but he had a decent rookie season considering how bad our defence was last season. Was looking forward to see how he went in what should be a much improved defence this year.

After bringing in Patrick Peterson and Mackenzie Alexander, it shouldn’t be a huge loss, especially if 2018 first round pick Mike Hughes can actually stay fit for once.....
