If Billy plays he will need to bat down the order…

Just seen the squad for Warwickshire game, no Madsen, Hughes or Thomson (parent club).

can see Mckiernan and perhaps Wood coming in, wouldn’t have Billy batting before 6 myself, but we’ll see

Reece, Came, Du Plooy, Wood, Critchley top 5

Really enjoyable game of cricket. I fear that our bowlers won’t be good enough to achieve anything but always good to see a win. Do you think Critchley will be with us much longer? I can see him elsewhere soon. They can stick the FA Cup, their cricket team were well beaten!

He’s under contract to the end of next season. The 2 divisions being scrapped has made needing to play for a division 1 team less of a thing, which is good for the game. I’m not sure what the plan is for next season though.

Great performance. Reece and Critchley the key players. Shame about Hughes injury. Very impressed with Guest behind the stumps. Billy needs to take a rest.

Think I’ll have to agree about Billy, trouble is if Madsen & Hughes remain out, we are running out of top order batsmen and captain options.

Racked up a huge 209/6 v Leics thanks to an unbeaten 80 of 45 balls from the superstar that is Matt Critchley and good contributions from Reece at the top of the order and Hughes when things could have gone awry when the 4th wicket fell at 90 just past the halfway mark.

Will take some chasing down that.

    That’s more like it ?

With all the all rounders I agree with losing a seam bowler and play McKiernan, bit of spin and he can give the ball a whack. 7 bowlers in that team as it is.

  6. Madsen not in the squad for today’s game against Leicestershire, his thigh injury is still being assessed.

Wood comes into the squad, I’d quite like to see the new lad Harry Came get a go though. We really need a powerful hitter in the team.

We batted out 20 overs which is a miracle in itself. Didn’t expect anything up there. 2:30 kick offs is bizarre. Missed it all due to being at work.
With regards to Hudson-Prentice, I thought it was odd looking at the stats. It seems to happen a lot. Someone has a really tidy over and is often never seen again. Anyway, onwards and upwards. I noticed Madsen ret inj. Is he OK?

It’s something that really bugs me about Godleman’s captaincy.

Unfortunately, Madsen is starting to look every bit his 37 years of age. He got injured diving in on a quick single, where he was hit by the ball. Not sure of the severity of it. He got injured last year pulling a muscle attempting a ramp shot, it might be time to reign in some of the stuff like that ?‍♂️

I lost the stream, assumed he was injured, all very bizarre. If we had McDermott and Madsen hadn’t picked up the injury who knows…

The Madsen injury saw the scoring slow at the end of the power play, a couple extra boundaries could have made the difference.

I missed it as it happened when the stream went down, but heard the commentators talking about a chance to catch Livingstone, where Critchley and Du Plooy ran into each other ?‍♂️

  9. Lancashire win with 3 balls to spare. Wasn’t a bad performance really, needed more wickets.

Hudson-Prentice 1 over 2-9 is the type of strange thing that seems a regular occurrence with Godlemans captaincy ?‍♂️

Godleman out in the first over, looks like he is going to be out virtually every ball…

That’s standard Billy to be fair ?

Great stuff from Reece that last over, unfortunately the school run will soon be disturbing my viewing....who’s idea was 2:30 starts ?

Harry Came, he saw, he thought about doing something else for a living.

I think on paper we look exactly like we will see on the pitch. The bowling looks well short to me. And the batting. Let's hope the bar can turn pints around quite quickly as the games might not last long.

With Van Beek back, we basically have the same team that went to finals day in 2019. With one major difference, Ravi Rampaul, who was leading wicket taker in the competition that season. The bowling is what concerns me, unless someone really steps up.

  12. 2 year contract for young lad who’s been playing in the 2nds. 22 years old and has 5 first class matches for Hampshire under his belt.

Scored 113 not out off 54 balls in a recent seconds t20 game, and is said to be a strong, powerful hitter....just what we need.

Hughton said of his signing, he will get chances this summer, will be an interesting one to follow.
