I forgot McDermott was a wicket keeper ? and that he, Van Beek and Melton can’t all play ?‍♂️

id sill play Godleman over Hughes, but agree with the other 10

Not sure if Billy still warrants a place, maybe open with Wood and McDermott. Think I would have Hughes in and probably Conners too....

He had a better average than Du Plooy, Reece, Hughes and Critchley in last year's competition. Definitely a place for him in my side, even if it’s not as opener. Wood as an extra batsman sounds good, we’d still have plenty of bowling.

What will our best 20/20 Xi be?

Hmmm, at a guess these 8 will be in

Godleman, Reece, Du Plooy, Madsen, McDermott, Critchley, Guest, Van Beek

The last 3 spots are hard to pick, is probably go Hudson-Prentice, the new spinner from Warwickshire who's name I've forgotten and Melton, who's been good bowling at the end in the past.

Yeah I guess, doubt the Falcons would have traded him somewhere that he didn't want to go though, out of respect.

Titans may make the playoffs, bit their not exactly Super bowl contenders are they, not with their defence.

Borderline contenders, that offense will be hard to stop. The secondary isn't very good though. Get in the playoffs and you've always got a chance.

    "I wanna win"

Then joins a similar level team with a similar level QB ?‍♂️

Titans will probably be at least in the playoffs again, a healthy Julio pushes them into the contenders category for me.

Don't know how much say he's having in where he’s going either.

In fairness, he does contribute as a Jonty Rhodes type cover point/backward point fielder. It's difficult to justify his inclusion on athleticism alone though. The upper order has been largely non-existent since April, and that's where the problem lies. A team which is seemingly incapable of building partnerships, let alone the prerequisite of posting 300 in the first dig is not going to win matches. The seam attack is very inexperienced and just learning their way in the game, and by and large have performed way above expectations. There is no 'old head' - a couple of years ago we had the likes of Palladino and Rampaul, both vastly experienced, and before that the likes of international players Hardus Viljoen and Duanne Olivier.

Derbyshire are not a wealthy county by any means, they have the lowest membership of any side in the championship, no large test ground and basically live hand to mouth. Consequently, recruitment is always going to be a problem.

The Warwickshire commentator compared him to Trevor Penney today. I can see why they want him in the team, he a up there with the best fielders around. But with him joining the long list of batsmen who can't score any runs, and he very rarely bowls, it does seem difficult to justify a place in the team for him.

Can we bat out the hour until lunch? Might be too much to expect. First one gone now.

Openers have been terrible this season, it doesn't help the rest of the batting line up when they can't even see out 2 overs of the new ball ?‍♂️

The 20 overs - in one match or overall?

It has been pretty feeble. I'm surprised Warwickshire did not enforce the follow-on. This game had 2 days written all over it until pity kicked in.

Would that have been 4 follow ons in a row? Depressing thing is I don’t think we’ve got any other batsmen left to try, pretty much everyone’s had a go at this point.

What on earth is going on with Dal? What exactly are the selectors seeing in him to give him chance after chance? I've seen plenty of decent players hit bad runs of form, I've seen plenty of promising players who just need something to click, but I don't see any of this with Dal. What am I missing?

He’s probably our best fielder, just a shame about the batting and bowling ?‍♂️

A most enjoyable day sitting in the sun. Sam Conners was mightily impressive in his first couple of spells, and Derbyshire were competitive throughout, keeping the lid on the scoring rate.

Time to make some chicken phal wraps now, then off to the cricket again.

    It's a tough life.

    Not jealous at all ??

If Conners can find the consistency, he can be a very good bowler. Regularly making the new ball pay this season.

At least Dal is back in the squad ?

Mot been a great season so far has it. Maybe the blast will be more our thing.

And back in the team ?

When we go to the next phase in a group with the other 5th and 6th place teams, we might win a game...maybe

A couple of early wickets for Sam Conners, always seems to bowl well the first morning.

Think it might have been a knee injury. I think if he was the best we could get pace wise I would have opted for a decent spinner if one was available...Santner after the England tour would have been nice....

Playing against Ireland at the moment, scored 29 runs and taken 2 wickets in his first 2 overs, at least he’s coming with a bit of form
