  1. Travesty is the one thing it wasn’t. We got no more and no less than we deserved. (Oh no, I said “deserved”😀).
  2. Good to meet you today. Shame we didn’t carry on chatting instead of watching the game.
  3. No it isn’t. Assess it at pretty much whatever percentage you want but it wasn’t 100% Warne’s fault and 0% the players. It seems you agree “our defending was shocking for the goal”. What that Warne’s fault? I’m not sure why you’re bringing the ref into the debate. I don’t think it was his fault and never said it was.
  4. I just see it as a shared responsibility. I don’t see how the players get a free pass on the assumptions that “they were only following orders”.
  5. I hope you're right but not much to inspire any confidence so far.
  6. Personally I think you are being a tad (but only a tad) over dramatic. I reckon, if we don’t go up this season, attendances will drop a little but not dramatically. If we fail to go up next season, attendances will probably drop again but the degree of decline will probably depend on the nature of our failure. I sincerely hope we’ll go up this year or, at least, next season but if we don’t the world won’t end. We’ll bounce back eventually (I believe) and a few seasons in league 1 hasn’t done too much harm to the likes of Ipswich (not that I relish the prospect). As for “restoring Derby to England’s football elite”, assuming you mean the Premier League, well I’m sure that’s going to happen anytime soon.
  7. They were bound to blame Ukraine (even if there is no evidence). But I can’t see it being a state sponsored Ukraine attack. What would they have the gain? On the other hand, if Putin can convince the public that Ukraine were behind the attack, it may help them strengthen resolve and support for the war. Am I being overly cynical?
  8. Cheers. I thought Venice was alright (but busy) and Pisa worth a visit but you’d struggle to spend very long there. Love Lake Garda. I’ve been there three times (driven all the way each time) including visits to Verona. Been to Rome twice and I’d go again. Luxembourg City is also good. Not been to Northumberland before so I’m looking forward to that in September.
  9. I think the restoration is due to be completed this year.
  10. Yes I loved Bruges. We stayed within walking distance of the bell tower so, a stroll around the city was easy.
  11. I agree with @sage regarding Musee D'orsay and Montmatre. Just around the corner from Sacre Coeur (our favourite spot) there is a small outdoor artists market which is interesting to browse around. The Eiffel Tower is interesting to see from ground level but I wouldn't bother going up it. Finally, a walk along Ile De La Cite (including Notre Dame) is good.
  12. I would imagine it’s never been the case that a team finishing third would rather forego an automatic promotion place in order to take part in the play offs regardless of how wages have changed. Given no club can reasonably expect to finish third, I think it makes perfect sense for them to want to keep the play offs. Even the Premier League teams relegated to the Championship would probably prefer to retain the existing system because of the risk that they might just miss out on a top three place. As long as they make the play offs they are probably still favourites to go back up even if they don’t finish third. It wouldn’t be the cash bonus that attracts them (especially as the tradition is that the losing team at Wembley gets all of the team shares of the gate receipt) but rather the chance of a get out jail free card if they just fall short. I don’t know if or when the system was voted in by the clubs or what the split was between those in favour v those against but, I would suspect the vast majority voted in favour because of the reason I stated.
  13. Absolutely not at the moment. Not whilst we’re, along with Pompey, in pole position for the auto’s.
  14. I really disagree with your theory as to why play offs were introduced. Surely they were introduced to a) generate more income and b) keep the season interesting for as many clubs as possible for as long as possible. It’s tough on the team that finishes third (especially if they finish comfortably above the teams below them) but it’s the system we’ve got and, on balance, I’m happy with it.
  15. It's only the most important until the next one. I don't think it's as important as the Bolton game. Whilst hopefully we won't need it, that win gives us a bit of breathing space in case we only manage a draw (or, heaven forbid, worse) tomorrow. If we'd failed to beat Bolton then tomorrow would have taken on even greater significance. If we'd lost against Bolton we'd already have one knacker in the door. For the avoidance of doubt, I'm of course not suggesting for one minute that either PW or the players should approach the game with the mindset that the Bolton win has given us a little bit of a comfort blanket. I fully expect everyone at the club to view the game as one we aim to win and are more than capable of winning.
  16. Thanks buddy. Good suggestion. I've actually been to Carcassonne as my brother used to live just outside of the city. Thanks
  17. Yes, Athens is looking like my favourite at the moment.
  18. I think it’s obvious why some people do it. In order to get a head start on the crowd leaving the stadium. It’s simply a bit of a compromise. They want to leave earlier than most people but don’t want to miss any late goals. I wouldn’t do it myself but some obviously do.
  19. I don’t think we’re a basket case anymore. Also, I agree you would have thought there would be changes if we don’t go up but I’m pretty sure SP said such losses had been allowed for within our five year plan.
  20. Good summary of the key points. Although I’ve only watched the video once, I would add the following from my recollection: Government bill: Widespread support across the Championship except for the clubs with parachute payments (surprise, surprise). Booing: As you say, he asked us to reserve any booing (if we feel it is necessary) until the game has finished. He also said the fans had every right to boo. I think he included himself as a target for such a reaction. Connection with away support: I think he said this was partly due to being a more compact group (or words to that effect) at away games. He also said the away support is more boisterous - possibly due to a bit more alcohol being consumed 😀. Adams: He said he was a Cardiff player and therefore more a case of unlikely than likely. Squad: I must have missed the vibes as I didn’t pick up on the feeling that promotion this season is the assumption. Cheering every kick and every header: I seem to recall that he was referring to when things get a bit nervous or we’re under a bit of pressure things get a bit quiet. The players get a boost when we cheer even the simplest things under these circumstances.
  21. Another good option. I did Split (when the area was still Yugoslavia so shows how long ago that was) and found it interesting.
  22. Having just watched the video, even though his answer was a simple “no”, I very much got the impression that it was a case of remaining focused on the job in hand now (which is what Pearce said when he chipped in) rather than the challenge of getting EFL sign off. Without it being said, it is probably a case of 1) depends on what division we’re playing in next year and 2) not risking players getting complacent if they’ve had a contract extension before the season is done.
  23. Been to Barcelona but that was only a day trip and an awfully long time ago when I was only about 17. Probably worth another visit sometime.
  24. Neither. Can’t stand them.
