  1. You admit to having Brum supporters as mates. 😮
  2. I'm being a bit dim. Will their income and costs (and therefore net losses) change much just because they have new owners?
  3. If I was DC I’d accept the hospitality and gorge myself on as much as I could manage. I’d also make sure I “accidentally” trod some ketchup (or similar) into the carpets an anomalously damage the toilets. 😀
  4. Fair comment although I don’t think motivation is something you can instil and then leave. I reckon it’s a constant demand on a manager’s capabilities (in pretty much all walks of life).
  5. I don’t agree. At this point in the season the managers job is to make adjustments to accommodate injuries, continue to make tactical decisions based on the set up of the opposition and how individual games are panning out (yes I know some would question Warne’s ability in this respect but it’s still a job for him to do), and continue to maintain the spirit in the team by lifting them if we’ve had a poor game and keeping their feet on the ground if we’ve had a good one. I think this period of the season is just as important (if not more so) for all concerned: the management team, the players, and the fans.
  6. I agree we shouldn’t assume it will be easy BUT, it’s more than three months since we played them at home and, whilst it was a less than convincing performance, it took a penalty in the 98th minute to deny us all three points. Also, football isn’t as simple as that. We beat Posh away but they played us off the park at our place, we lost to Oxford at home but, apart from the first 15 minutes, I seem to recall we were the better team at their place (although we did leave it late to get the goals). I’m sure there are more examples. Last season they were on the fringes of the play offs for part of the season I think whereas this year they are nothing more and nothing less than mid table. I’m obviously hoping for a comfortable win but fear a hard battle and potential dent to our push for the autos. A lot may depend on their Wembley exploits. Will it take a lot out of them or will they still be riding high and full of confidence? Will they win on Sunday but still be suffering from a hangover on Wednesday or will they lose and come at us with a point to prove? There really is no telling.
  7. I think it’s only a red card if the player (including the keeper outside of the penalty area) deliberately handles the ball and it prevents an obvious goal scoring opportunity. I guess on this occasion it wasn’t deemed an obvious goal scoring opportunity. I don’t really think Wildsmith can really blame the conditions and I think he was lucky not to get a yellow card.
  8. Exactly. Respect to both teams. It could easily have been a dull 0:0 draw with both sides showing the other too much respect and playing just to avoid defeat.
  9. A lot of people talk about ifs and buts and not turning up for certain games (e.g. Northampton away) but we're not unique in that respect. All of the top teams have dropped points in games they shouldn't have done (Bolton only drew at Northampton, Barnsley's and Posh's recent home defeats spring to mind). I would imagine supporters of all the top 5 teams often think "if only".
  10. It’s not so much the sentiment of the posting but more the bluntness and the timing. FFS, we were all pretty chuffed at battling for a well earned point away against the table sitting top of the table (I think most of us were proud of the lads last night) then someone has to post a message like that. If the post had been made before the game, and been a little more subtle (for example, “I worry about how these two teams will survive in the Championship without some major surgery ….blah blah blah”) I don’t think it would have had quite the reaction as the actual post did.
  11. Surely there must be a graduate somewhere looking for a fairly meaningless study for their PHD 😏
  12. But why post such a negative comment after an entertaining game of football when we've just earned a deserved point away from home against the league leaders? Clearly trying to ruin the mood and wind people up.
  13. Makes you wonder why some folk seem to get so much enjoyment from bring a WUM. Perhaps a reflection of their sad lives.
  14. Good second part of the first half. Just hope we don’t see a repeat of what often happens - the opposition manager changes things at half time and we fail to react. COYR
  15. A bit of sustained possession might be nice. This could be a long night.
