Disagree that there is no shame in that - I know it's easy for me to say sat on my sofa with a beer and some nachos but if you have built your brand on fear you can't quit on one knee, you just can't.

If you think Warren is bad, Sam Jones takes the biscuit - talking all over Joyce's post match interviews. Too much mouth by half. He has an East Midlands accent of some descruption, anyone know where he heralds from?

I think the 'quitting' debate is a really difficult one in this situation. On the one hand, it looks awful from a branding perspective as you say. The best boxers have a screw loose and so would choose to go out 'on their shield'. It does suggest Dubois could be lacking a killer mentality.

At the same time, he's 23 and clearly wasn't ready for this fight. He looked shook up from the first time Joyce hit him. And going blind is not worth saving face, in a fight he probably would have lost anyway.

I think his trainers really let him down, you could tell Martin Bowers wanted him to tough it out and win/lose on points. He didn't show much ring IQ last night. Mouthing off about 'putting Joyce to sleep' is one thing but despite his lack of defence Joyce didn't wobble once. It's a massive step up to go from fighting bums who have probably agreed to throw in the towel after 2 rounds, to Joyce who is a top 25 HW and is never going to show Dubois that respect

Hughie Fury would beat both of them on points. He may have poor punch power but he's smarter and quick enough to beat them both at the same time.

Joyce calling out Usyk. That would be easy work for Usyk.

That'd be a bizarre spectacle because I'd be surprised if Usyk didn't take all 12 rounds. At the same time, he wouldn't hurt Joyce at all.  That chin is granite.

Joyce will probably be fast-tracked to a world title fight, lose, and then become a decent gatekeeper sort and make a bit of money at the tail-end of his career. Dubois losing his unbeaten record isn't a big deal as he was pushed too hard too quickly but he needs a new trainer and to get away from Frank Warren. If he rebuilds his confidence he can come again, but psychological side is key. Otherwise he'll be the next David Price

  3. Dubois quit, but no shame in that, could have risked permanent damage to that eye. I think his trainers have a lot to answer for - him quitting by taking a knee is not a good look compared to them throwing the towel in which they should have at least considered. Plus why not teach Dubois to move his head! He was eating jabs all night.

Warren is just crap. Saw Dubois as his cash cow so pushed him way too early. He was so disrespectful to Joyce afterwards as well. And the undercard was terrible

  4. Came here because of @Carl Sagan's tag, stayed for film reviews.

Hell or High Water - 7.5/10. Modern Western with Jeff Bridges, who I'm a big fan of.

The Big Sick - 8/10. Not a huge rom-com fan but watched it with the family at Christmas. This mixes up the tired usual formula and is an interesting exploration of interracial issues.

    Logan Lucky - 6/10. Decent enough Ocean's Eleven knock-off.

Inherent Vice - 9/10. Weird stoner film but it could be a cult classic. Great acting from Joaquin Phoenix/Josh Brolin.

Can you not see why Norwich sold Johnson? I agree with other comments about Thorne though. I just hope that his football future, with his injuries, hasn't been ruined. If he mends well, he could make it for sure in the Premiership. Anya is also a possibility, but it wouldn't surprise me if we make a serious bid for Forest's captain, but seriously, if I'm wrong about the rest tell me which of Derby's current squad would fair well in the Premiership?

So, remove the rose coloured glasses and tell me who have I overlooked in your eyes that could really do a good job to keep Derby up in the Premiership if we got promotion, other than those I've mentioned?

Well first, I think the main flaw in your argument is this belief that teams need to be full of "Premier League quality players" to stay up. Survival is much more about having an effective system and having players that can execute that. Last year Bournemouth stayed up with Junior Stanislas and Josh King up front and loads of defenders that spent their whole career in the Championship.

Because they seem to fit well in McClaren's system, I think Carson, Pearce, Baird, Thorne, Johnson, Hughes, Butterfield and Ince could all do ok starting in the Premiership. Keogh, Olson, Anya would all be fine off the bench.

The reality is that although we are trying to gain promotion, we are nowhere near being a side that could compete at that level. We have players like Butterfield that is very poor in his passing ability. Johnson showed against Norwich that he is in the same category. We should NEVER have paid what we did for the likes of Butterfield, Johnson, Vydra, etc. we need MAJOR injection of quality even if it's in the form of five loan players of Premiership quality.

I can only think of TWO or THREE players that could survive in the Premiership, and that would be Hughes, Carson, and possibly Ince. The rear guard are good, but aging, and wouldn't survive in the Premiership, evidenced against Norwich. Am I wrong?

    Yeah.

I wouldn't really trust WhoScored's ratings when it comes to centre-halves. Always seems to overate the big 'head it and kick it' types.

Yeah fair enough and regardless of that statistics never tell the whole story anyway. For what it's worth, seems like Leeds fans don't particularly rate Bamba. I'd still be tempted if we were considering moving to a 3-5-2 formation but if we just play two centre halves we probably don't need anyone else.

he's no better than what we've got. He's no faster than Keogh, he's worse on the ball than all of our defence.

Per whoscored, last season Bamba averaged a 7.35 match rating and picked up 5 MotM awards.

Keogh - 6.94/3 (this season he's been excellent though)

    Shackell - 7.14/1

Statistically, at least, Bamba would improve our defence but given how well our CBs are playing right now he could give us a great back 3 for this level. I have to agree with B4 here!

    Thanks for the comment.:)

The only problem is that my revision is all on my iPad (our school gives each student one), so it's really easy to just open a new tab and click on the forum.

I know I should be able to resist the urge but it's quite addictive.:D

    Ooh, how posh!

I get that would be more distracting, it's why I don't really get schools giving out iPads.

I think the key is to do a couple of hours of focused revision rather than half a day where you keep getting distracted. Try to set up a timetable or something.

Ultimately I wouldn't worry too much, I used to get distracted all the time (although more often than not it was the kind of distraction @EastHertsRam is talking about ). Also, as long as you feel confident, don't do too much "last minute" revision, it's much more helpful to have a regular sleep pattern and spend the time before the exam thinking about actual exam technique than stressing too much over the finer points of your notes.

  10. I don't think you should leave, just have a bit of self-restraint.

I reckon I managed about 2.5 hours revision a day for my GCSEs which was plenty. Why don't you try to minimise usage of your computer/phone? If you're looking at something on a web address, print it out. Revise somewhere where your computer isn't and try to do a 50-60 minute chunk. In your breaks between revision periods still stay away from the forum, just watch TV for 30 minutes or something.

Then you'll probably be done by about 2 and can meme away as much as you like on here :)

  11. Is anyone going to be buying Uncharted 4: A Thief's End? Classic casual gamer thing I know but I really enjoy those games. Among Thieves in particular was incredible.

  12. AC Syndicate is really fun. I didn't get Unity but it does remind me a lot of Black Flag. Plot's quite light and humorous and the gameplay is nicely varied. Plus there's so much to do and being in Victorian London - with figures like Darwin, Dickens, Marx, Florence Nightingale and Alexander Graham Bell - is really cool.

Can someone tell me why I should purchase fallout? Been loads of hype but I don't normally do single player games.

I'm tempted to get it, probably at Xmas when I'm bored of Blops.

Whilst you'll get bored of Black Ops, you won't get bored of Fallout - immensley varied gameplay with loads of freedom to do what you like and a highly interesting world with entertaining characters.

Think I'll get it at the weekend, looking forward to it a lot.
