Still got 2 years left on his contract, so a tad concerned as he would be fiercely expensive given he played 41 games this season. Seems a lot to fork out on a single player unless Clowes already has investment lined up, but it's an interesting one for sure. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. I'm not sure saying that aiming to be competitive at least is particularly revealing anyway. Would be a blinding signing, but I can't help feeling the most likely outcome is him staying at Celtic next season. That said, if Warne could genetically engineer a player, this lad wouldn't be too far off. He looks huge, for a start. Google says 6' 2", but I think he must still be growing! He looks a specimen too and seriously strong. Watching him brush players off the ball, it looked like a dad had sneaked onto the pitch at a kid's game. He looks absolutely rapid too, if not instant pace, it's not far off and he's a huge stride on him and positively eats up the ground once in full flight. It seems he can tackle, pass and shoot, knows how to link play and seems to read the game well too. His video actually reminds me a little of George Thorne, which I mean as a big compliment. Some definite interest from me then, but based on what I concede is flimsy evidence. Irrespective, I'd like to think we'd want to have a good look at him, at very least, if transpires that he is going to be available.

I'm gutted that we're losing Max, but mindful that the cash he brought in secured us Ebou and Gayle and his insistence on being loaned back and the performances he's put in during that loan very much helped us to secure promotion. I think he was stung by some of the criticism he received and I'd say he's answered his detractors in the best way possible. Nothing left to do then save for thanking the lad and wishing him every success. Needs to return to us sooner, rather than later, mind! He's still a Ram after all.

He's earned another year, but I think Warne will be honest with him and it'll come down to whether Collo accepts that he won't be guaranteed starts the way he has been in L1. The club will have been looking at how to strengthen the attack all season and for all that I love Collo to bits and fully acknowledge the hugely significant part he's played in getting us promoted, it seems unlikely he'd be a regular starter in a Championship side, at this point in his career. Can never really write the lad off though, can you and if he left I'd see him as more likely going to a top 6 side in L1 where he's guaranteed to get all the games his legs can handle. Whatever he decides, he does so with my heartfelt gratitude though. Absolute Trojan IMO.

Bit choked reading this mate and of course everyone respects and understands your decision, but would it not be worth a thread on here, or contacting the club to see if there are other older fans in the same situation, who could perhaps get together on matchdays. It must be tough to sit there feeling lonely while among 30k fellow Rams, but there must be others in similar scenarios. Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best and hope we'll still see you pop up on here from time to time!

Well done, Warney! where before we crumbled post-xmas, we've finished stronger than ever and honestly, this is nothing less than your hard work warranted. Huge close season now, with a major overhaul to come, but those are some lovely problems to have. Hopefully, DC can attract a bit of additional cash to fund the war chest.
