  1. Yeah, I wasn’t suggesting you were having a dig and I’m often frustrated as many others are. We see a player get to the byline and we’re all preparing for something exciting and then all too often it falls flat. If we can find a finisher we will fly into the autos.
  2. It’s boring football because it’s a ‘boring’ league. The lack of real quality means the ball spends a lot of time in the air. However, we wouldn’t be calling it boring if we had someone up front or running from midfield who could put away some of the crosses put in by Wilson, NML and Co. The fact they are headed or hoofed away leaves the spectator disgruntled.

  4. Battling performance similar to Saturday. Hope Wilson and Fornah keep their places. Well done chaps!
  5. Tired of endless replays for VAR? No longer enjoying goals for fear of them being ruled out seven minutes later? Then come to Pride Park in good old League One! Rediscover the joy of calling officials a cant, a nib jacky or a winker as they make good old-fashioned mistakes. No sign of technology being used, except from the morons who forget they’re at a live event and live their life through their phones. No place here for Lineker and his tired old chums trying to decide whether having your shorts flap slightly closer to the goal gives you an unfair advantage. Gasp as the ball reaches some eighty feet in the air, revel in the expert time-wasting and become one of many fans more expert than the managers. You’ll never go back to Premier League and its robots.
  6. I think he tried to put it through the keeper’s legs. He failed and so it looked like he hit it straight at the keeper. Small margins. I hope the lad makes it because his heart is in the right place and we’re not exactly awash with goalscorers. However, much like a lot of the squad, we may find he is replaceable. I’ll always cheer for him when he plays.
  7. We arguably need a new CM if Bird stays. If he goes I’d say we need two. Smith’s not good enough for a top six team, Hourihane is conserving energy and Fornah hasn’t quite established himself as a must pick (he may, in time, when he can control his aggression a little better). Our midfield lacks real drive, creativity and goals. It would be good if we could pick three that stay a little closer together.

  9. We need a fast start. Too often away from home we adopt a shape and allow the opposition to play. I’d like to see us get in their faces, give a few fouls away, but don’t let them settle. There’s no reason why geography should change our game. Let NML and Wilson try their tricks and let’s get more than one person in the box. A passive approach will cost us. Vamos ramos!
  10. Think he’s on the wane. Would prefer a younger player like Michael Mellon, a Burnley player out on loan at Morecambe.
  11. I don’t think I have to say anything about El Tel. Just read what the players he played with or managed have to say. Some beautiful tributes and that’s all you can hope for in life.
  12. It was pretty turgid stuff for the majority of the game but the goal transformed it. Apart from one lay off, CM had been completely dominated by Nelson. One of those win ugly days.

  14. It was NML which was why it was especially nice he got the winner.
  15. I think he should have been substituted for the end of the game once we’d gone 2-1 ahead. He was shattered and it was no surprise he picked up an injury. It’s important he plays Tuesday night and that he’s on form. We can’t afford to run him into the ground.
  16. It made no sense yesterday. Nelson had Martin in his pocket and Rovers were toothless. Bradley immediately assumed Martin duties and no one jumped against CM for the goal. When your central pairing is performing well why complicate things? I can only imagine Ward isn’t fully fit because he’s better than several of our starters. Similarly, Wilson is a far better player than Barkhuisen and his introduction made a difference (again). A tough watch but I’m really pleased we ground out the win.
  17. Hourihane spends most of his time in the back four where can collect it, play a five yard pass and have an easy life. Bird has quality but never wants the ball and Smith spends his time upfront with his back to goal and just gets outmuscled. His pain threshold is zero. The three off them are never close together so we just play it to the wings and hope, which is an odd plan with the forwards we have. We looked more dynamic with Fornah on and Wilson improved us too.
  18. Really looking forward to the game today and to paying my respects to B4. Might even bring the top hat to doff on 38 minutes. He deserves it.
  19. Is Cleary a possibility? I think he’s been mentioned on here before. He is certainly in the right mould. I think a young, quick forward would partner well with one of our experienced forwards.
  20. Youth and pace upfront would be so nice to watch. Dobbin was raw and often infuriating but he was also exciting and different. Our main strikers are experienced and try hard but pace and trickery will always beat League One defenders.
  21. I always remember ‘I just whack ‘em’ Biley getting a lot of stick at Derby but he looked tidy in that Luton game.
