Ambitious
Must be horrible, bet his head is all over the place but may come out with a fire in his belly in tribute to his dad. I believe Lampard did when his mother died.

-JW-
What do you think any father would want their son not to play for england one last time, just because they died? If you ever lose your mother or father then you will realise how difficult it is to go about your day to day business.

uttoxram75
The rest of the family may sway the decision for him. If, say, his dad was proud as punch of his son's career and followed him closely, watching has many games as poss etc, then they will urge him to go "for his dad", "its what he would have wanted" etc. Its a personal choice at the end of the day tho and whatever he decides to do is the right thing. SillyBilly
Doubt the games would be the problem, more so being away from family for a considerable length of time under the circumstances, the players have always complained how mind numbing it can be between matches. Just because they died !!! , you have got to be 13 years old or a very cold hearted person ,, its the death of someones father , its not just because they died , the choice will be Defoes and what ever his choice will be it wont be just because his dad died
Brammie Steve
I took a church service on the same evening that my dad died unexpectedly, then went to work the next day. I went home early and had a week's compassionate leave after which I had 2 serious car accidents in 2 months. It is hard to know how someone will react after the death of a parent but no one is unaffected, Obviously everyone will be thinking of Jermaine but there are also other members of the family to consider. He may feel up to playing yet cause a long term rift among family members for perceived insensitivity. Whatever he decides, it is his decision to make, The press and media are too quick sometimes to criticise a person's actions and reactions. Non family keep out...and that includes England supporters. managers etc.
